What happened to you?
You’re just not the game
as a kiddy I knew.
Now with players on wages
that could fund a small city
yet desire has lessened
which seems such a pity.
No respect for officials
and cheating abound,
a small puff of wind
sends a player to ground.
Our children are watching
what these fellas do,
they think they are heros,
they haven’t a clue.
I really do think
it’s time for a shake up,
and all of the top folks
now need to wake up.
I want players to think
of the badge not the pay,
before the sport I onced loved
starts to slowly ebb away
Many a birthday away from the football world too (from top left and then clockwise):
Vijay Singh: The former world number one golfer celebrates his 53rd birthday today

Yesterday, North Queensland Cowboys beat Leeds Rhinos to win the World Club Challenge.
Super League general manager Blake Solly told BBC Radio 5 live: “On the field, the results would indicate there’s a gap. Off the field, the series was a great success.
"You can tell from the full terraces that there’s an appetite for international club competition.
"But what we have to do now is concentrate on how we bridge that gap over the next 12 months."

Peter Conlan: Van Gaal isn't a red, Mourinho will always be a blue, Give it to Giggs, the legend That's the only right thing to do!
Average Alpha Male: Jozy Altidore, played for Sunderland, couldn't score, tried his best, but failed the test, plays in the Premier league no more.
Luisa Gottardo: Oh Reuben Loftus Cheek Didn't play this week But even on the bench He still looked on fleek. (Sorry)
For any of our readers over the age of 20, fleek means "flawlessly styled, groomed, etc.; looking great". Apparently.
Tennis
Back in 2007, the All England Club announced that men and women would receive equal prize money at the Wimbledon tennis championships. It was the first time in the tournament's history that there had been equal pay for men and women.

What happens in a heated game when you show a red card to the referee? He shows it back to you of course.
Trabzonspor learned that the hard way yesterday.
They were drawing 1-1, and down to nine men, in their game with Galatasaray when they conceded a penalty. Cavanda was so angry he charged into the referee and was sent off.
As the red card fell to the floor, Salih Dursan picked it up and showed it to the referee, who didn't find it funny, and Trabzonspor ended with nine men.
They conceded the penalty.

Denny Hamlin won the Daytona 500 by 0.010 seconds on Sunday in the closest finish to the 'Great American Race' in its 58-year history.
The 35-year-old roared from fourth on the last lap of the 500-mile race to beat Martin Truex Jr, with Joe Gibbs Racing team-mate Matt Kenseth third.
It was the closest finish since the all-American stock car series Nascar brought in electronic scoring in 1993.
"You couldn't have written a better ending," Hamlin said.

Now this will be hard,
Coz there's so many to pick,
So I'll start from the beginning,
If you'll give me a tic,
So when I was young and just off my leach,
There was only one person that was Kenny Dalglish,
Not long after that under his nose was a bush,
You all know this one of course it's Ian Rush,
Around the same time the ball went in with a tap,
That could only be John Barnes,
Singing his Anfield rap,
Michael Owen we all now disown,
But he got us the FA cup all on his own,
Now my last one you guessed it's not that hard,
You still sing his name out loud,
That's right Steve Gerrard Gerrard, Now the greats have all left,
And the teams not the same,
It's the same at all the other clubs,
All they play for is..fame.
