Lafferty questions marks for O'Neillpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

Michael O'Neill's main selection issue for Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifier against San Marino looks to be whether to start Kyle Lafferty.

Lafferty, 29, made little impression in the draw against the Czech Republic last month and has since remained largely out of favour at Norwich.

Manager O'Neill must decide whether to again opt for a lone central striker in Saturday's game at Windsor Park.

QPR's Conor Washington and Charlton's Josh Magennis are the other options.

Carl Froch has said retired boxers should be supported, to help them with mental health issues.

Former world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan voiced his support for a foundation for boxers with mental health issues yesterday. And Froch agreed that retired boxers can struggle to readjust after a life in "such a bravado sport".

“Retired fighters find it hard to get back into civilian life after they retire," he told Radio 5 live. "They have nothing else to do, they’ve only ever known boxing since they were kids. A lot of them get a taste of super-stardom and almost reach financial freedom, but 95% of them don’t.

“Support does need to be provided. People keep [mental health issues] under the hat. Especially boxers, where it’s such a bravado sport, you don’t want to admit you have got a weakness.”
