China Open quarter-finals latestpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    Johanna Konta 5-4 Shuai Zhang

Johanna Konta's serve is working like a well-oiled machine now, it's an impressive weapon when it's on song.

But this is against the run of play, Zhang finds some minerals, break point at 30-40 - a Serena Williams-esque serve saves the game, and Konta isn't losing this one from here. 4-4.

What started as a low-quality affair is rapidly becoming a bit of a humdinger, as both players find form, exchanging big blows. Deuce.

Five games in a row for Konta! That last point typified the way this match is going, massive baseline efforts from both players, but the Brit finds the extra bit of muscle to put her in pole position in this set.

  2. Cockroft: Los Angeles best option for 2024 Paralympicspublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

Five-time Paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft believes Los Angeles would be the best option for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. The Californian city is expected to be one of the three host cities, including Paris and Budapest, rubber-stamped as contenders later on Friday, with Rome expected to pull out.

Cockroft, who has been a guest editor at BBC Sport, said: "America is a country which hasn't really embraced the Paralympic movement as yet, whereas because London 2012 did such a good job, Europe has already done that.

"If America can fall in love with us, then I feel like the rest of the world will follow. At the moment, the coverage of Paralympic athletes is quite poor and it would nice to be able to change that."

As for her own chances of competing there, Cockroft added: "Let's just concentrate on Tokyo in 2020 first."

'Two opponents are chalk and cheese'published at 12:56 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

Northern Ireland v San Marino (Saturday, 19:45 BST)

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill and midfielder Steven Davis are currently talking to the media before the World Cup qualifier on Saturday at home against San Marino, with Northern Ireland then facing an away game in Germany next Tuesday.

Davis says: "The two opponents are like chalk and cheese but firstly it's great to be back in Belfast, the stadium is looking brilliant, we are very looking forward to having a full stadium tomorrow night.

"It's up to us to try and break San Marino down. It would be great to get an early goal but we'll stay patient."

    Johanna Konta 3-4 Shuai Zhang

If Johanna Konta can push on here, you really get the feeling this set is far from lost.

Oh. Two unforced errors and she's 0-30 down. Not ideal. That serve was though, an ace! Massive serves now, Konta is in business, that's 4-2.

This is the Johanna Konta we've got used to seeing in the last 12 months now, manipulating the baseline with heavy strokeplay. 0-30.

15-40, two break points, Zhang struggling with the power. And that's some way to put the match back on serve, scintillating serve return. Konta in the ascendancy.

China Open quarter-finals latestpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    Johanna Konta 1-4 Shuai Zhang

This first set is not going well for Johanna Konta. Did I say she was finding her form? I may have been wrong.

Konta looks more than a little nervous out there, and it's showing in her tennis, as she drops her set to love, largely through unforced errors.

That's better, the 25-year-old world number 14 getting into a rally, winning a point. And another, 30-30, a glimmer? Break point! Zhang now the one feeling the nerves, shanking her forehand very, very wide. Deuce, as Konta follows suit.

But you feel she's taking the upper-hand slowly. And Zhang crumbles! 4-1! That's one break saved, can she claw back the other?

The Republic of Ireland's Robbie Brady is set to miss the World Cup qualifier in Moldova after being knocked out in Thursday's 1-0 win over Georgia.

The Norwich player's neck was put in a brace and he was given oxygen as he was carried off on a stretcher late on.

Republic manager Martin O'Neill said that concussions protocols are likely to rule out Brady on Sunday.

Brady was "out cold" after a clash of heads but quickly regained consciousness and went to hospital.

    Johanna Konta 0-3 Shuai Zhang

There's no rest for the wicked, so off we go back to Beijing, where Britain's number one Johanna Konta has got off to a tepid start against home favourite Shuai Zhang.

Zhang has looked good in taking the first three games, including one break, but there were signs that Konta was finding form in that third game... Gulp.

Stay tuned for updates on that one.

Cambridge United goalkeeper Will Norris is the best in League Two, according to manager Shaun Derry.

The 23-year-old saved two penalties in stoppage time as United beat Accrington 2-1 on 1 October.

"I think I've got the best number one in the division, I really do, and I've said that for a while now," Derry said.

"He's a fantastic young goalkeeper who's really coachable. I think when you look at those aspects he's got a hell of a chance."

Duckett out for Englandpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    England v Bangladesh

There'll be no glorious debut century for Ben Duckett today, but as far as first impressions go, he's made a good one. He has to depart after Shafiul Islam uproots his leg stump.

One man who could score a century - a first in limited overs international cricket - is Ben Stokes, who's played a wonderfully mature hand to reach 98 not out, shepherding England to 217-4 after 39.1 overs.

Follow along here to see if the Durham lad can claim three figures.

    David HayeImage source, Rex Features

Former world heavyweight Champion David Haye is in negotiations to bring his next fight to Cardiff's Principality Stadium.

Haye, 35, will fight on 10 December against a yet to be named opponent which could be American veteran Shannon Briggs.

The home of Welsh rugby has not hosted a boxing event since November 2007.

It is understood officials are keen to bring boxing back to the stadium but have concerns over protecting the pitch ahead of the Six Nations.

Andy Murray 7-6 6-2 Kyle Edmund

There it is. It became increasingly inevitable as the match progressed, but Kyle Edmund played some fantastic tennis, especially in that first set.

And of course, there's no shame in losing to a three-time Grand Slam champion, and a double Olympic gold medalist to boot.

Kyle Edmund will not go away for Andy Murray in China.

After losing his service game twice on the bounce, here he is at 15-40 on the Murray serve. Can he break again? No. We're at deuce. Yes? A massive forehand gives him another chance. No, deuce. Definitely not, game Murray.

And now this game could be rapidly heading towards it's conclusion, as Murray breaks Edmund for a third successive time. It's been fun while it's lasted.

  20. 'A love-hate relationship with the word "inspirational"'published at 11:49 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

Some more quotes from five-time Paralympic gold medallist Hannah Cockroft, who is at BBC Sport today, talking about how she feels when she is described as "inspirational".

"There's been a debate recently over 'inspiration' and what it means within the context of disability," said Cockroft. "I have a love-hate relationship with the word. It gets thrown around so much. Every time someone describes a Paralympian as 'inspirational', I want to ask: 'Why?'

"Is it because I'm doing something with my life and you don't expect me to, or is it because I go fast and work hard? If it's the latter, that's fine, but if it's because I got out of bed today and didn't feel sorry for myself, then describing that as inspirational should probably stop.

"Disabled athletes are normal people. Genuinely, we're like you, it's just that a part of us doesn't work. The fact we're alive isn't inspirational. The word inspirational has lost its meaning. It's too easy to say inspirational. Saying it has become a habit so let's create a new word."
