Andy Murray 7-6 3-2 Kyle Edmund

That's enough to knock the wind out of the sturdiest of sails, going a break up against a two-time Wimbledon champion, only to drop your serve straight after.

Andy Murray compounds the misery by breezing through his service game, leveling up the set at 2-2.

Can Kyle Edmund recover? I tell you what, Andy Murray defends like Terry Butcher at times. Dogged. He goes down 30-0 but he won't go away, clawing back the advantage. Deuce.

Edmund on advantage after solid net play, back to deuce after an excitable forehand nestles in the net. Oh dear, more unforced errors, and that's back-to-back breaks for Murray. Game over?

Kyle Edmund needs to follow up that break with a solid service game. What does he have in his locker?

Well, that drop shot at 40-15 isn't wise. And with the score moving to advantage Andy Murray after deuce, it looks even worse.

That's a champions reaction. Back on serve in the second set.

Angry Chinese fans have called for the resignation of the president of China's football association, after the country lost to Syria in a World Cup qualifier.

Syria's 1-0 victory on Thursday shocked fans in the Chinese city of Xi'an who took to the streets.

But the loss means the team could now miss out on a place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Andy Murray 7-6 0-2 Kyle Edmund

Ominous for Kyle Edmund after losing that first set, Andy Murray can smell blood, he has a break point, this could be the game right here... but Edmund hasn't read the script, he holds his serve. He's got some bottle, for sure.

Something else he has is one smasher of a forehand. But I've mentioned that already. He brings it to the party once more to reach 0-15. A Murray mistake makes 0-30. Foot in the door?

The door is open! Murray claws him back to 30-30, but Edmund's having none of it, he's done it! First break of the match!

    Andy Murray 7-6 Kyle Edmund

Set point four for Andy Murray after more great tennis, he gets a second serve to tuck into, we're into a rally, could this be when the Scot pounces... no! He goes long, all square once more.

There's a long pause between games, Edmund with ball in hand, another rally, this is grueling now, and Edmund falters, backhand into the net. Set point five.

And this time Murray takes the set, Edmund firing a tired looking shot long. Phew, what a set! Murray wins it 11-9 on the tie break.

China Open quarter-final latestpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    Andy Murray 6-6 Kyle Edmund

Oh this is interesting, interesting indeed, Murray flinches first and Edmund takes the first mini-break! 4-2 to the 21-year-old. And that quickly becomes 5-2 when Murray uncharacteristically finds the net with a backhand slice!

Murray doesn't mess around on serve, 5-4, two serves out of two and Edmund takes the set. Two points go too... Murray. We're back at 6-6.

7-7. This is some match. Here's Murray serving for the set, no! Awesome tennis from both men, but Edmund's howitzer forehand keeps him in it! This could go on for a while...

    Andy Murray 6-6 Kyle Edmund

Kyle Edmund is far from being outclassed in Beijing, but Andy Murray is beginning to control this match, charging through his service games with accurate serving and creating chances on the return. Another easy hold makes it 6-5. Tie-break or Murray's set?

Tie-break, if Edmund has anything to say about it. Fantastic serving and strokeplay under pressure, and Murray has no answer to force an opportunity this time around.

    Tie-break time.

Capping off Saturday's stellar sporting line-up is Ricky Burns, Scotland's three-weight world champion.

But for Burns, his assignment at the Hydro in Glasgow is simply another opponent, another world title defence.

There are plenty of reasons to be wary of Kiryl Relikh, but Burns has never carried apprehension into any of his fights.

Friday night's bout will be Scot Burns' first defence of his WBA super-lightweight belt and there is a stark contrast between the two boxers.

Burns is experienced, a 33-year-old about to fight his 47th bout with 349 rounds behind him in his professional career, and a man at ease with his status and the demands of being a world champion.

China Open quarter-final latestpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    Andy Murray 5-5 Kyle Edmund

Andy Murray is wasting no time with his service games in China, reeling off four rapid, unanswered points to move to 5-4. Now the pressure is on Kyle Edmund. Can he stay in this set? He's played well enough to deserve at least a tie-break.

Oh dear, he fluffs a relatively easy pass first up to give Murray the advantage. You don't want to be doing that young'un!

0-30, both man in a stand-off at the net, Edmund blinks first, Murray with the pass.

That's a composed reaction, two unanswerable serves levels up the game. He can't find a third first serve in a row though, Murray is into the point, but there's that enormous forehand once more, that could help him achieve big things in the future. Or maybe even tonight.

But there's Murray showing power isn't everything, caressing a backhand down the line to take us to deuce. Another stunning backhand brings us the first break point of the match - but Edmund defends. We reach fourth deuce, it's tense out there, Edmund's forehand against Murray's class. The forehand wins as Murray finds the net. 5-5.

    Andy Murray 4-4 Kyle Edmund

Over in China Kyle Edmund really rips into Andy Murray's second serve, phwoar did he give that some. Long though. So no gravy.

Plenty of sauce in the next point though, as Edmund comes to the net and plays a delightful little drop shot. Murray scrambles, he nearly gets there, but his save hits the net. 15-15.

Is Edmund building confidence? Maybe, but as soon as he gets a sniff, Murray reacts, closing out the game with the kind of ease that makes him a champion. 4-3.

He isn't looking like breaking himself though, as an Edmund ace goes whistling past his nose. And he keeps it comfortable, only losing the single point. All square.

Eight of the nine men arrested in Malaysia for stripping off at the Formula One Grand Prix have returned to Australia.

The men, branded the "Budgie Nine", were detained on Sunday after posing in swimwear decorated with the Malaysian flag.

Budgie smugglers is an Australian term for the swimwear they were wearing.

On Thursday, they were charged with public nuisance and fined but avoided jail.

Malaysia has strict rules on any display of public indecency and foreign offenders are typically issued a fine before being deported.

One member of the group, Nick Kelly, warned other Australians to be aware of "cultural differences" when travelling.

It's a bit late for that, Nick...

    Andy Murray 3-3 Kyle Edmund

Back to the tennis, and this time Andy Murray makes his service game look easy, Kyle Edmund doesn't even get a look-in, hold to love, 3-2.

Edmund's turn to serve, this is turning into a bit of a slug fest, big serves, big ground strokes. These two will know each others games well of course, as Davis Cup teammates and training partners.

And it's the power of Edmund that counts again, short rallies, winners and errors, but the youngster comes out on top to level once more.
