There were some controversial decisions in last night's Real Madrid-Bayern Munich match but Uefa spokesman Pedro Pinto suggests there are no immediate plans for the Champions League to include live trials of video assistant referees (VAR) that are taking place in a number of competitions this year around the world.

"Uefa is constantly looking at ways in which it can improve the matches taking place in its competitions and many discussions took place regarding goal-line technology (GLT) before it was introduced for Euro 2016 and the Champions League," he says.

"Regarding video assistant referees, there are currently trials taking place, so let's see the results and if or how the system can work while preserving the flow of the game."
