  1. Mings set for Cherries exitpublished at 17:03 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2019

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe confirmed Tyrone Mings is expected to leave the Cherries before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.

A club in the Midlands appears to be his preferred destination, with both West Brom and Aston Villa both interested in the defender.

"We'll wait and see on what happens with Tyrone," Howe said.

"He's been unlucky since he signed for the club, so there's a possibility he could be an outgoing."

Richard Browne: Top four is everything today. You need money to invest in the squad, you need CL to attract top players. Outside of the Premier League and Champions League silverware is meaningless.

Varun Gupta: To Sam: Wenger won three league titles including the invincible season. He built a world class stadium from scratch & club faced no financial stress. Wenger was left behind by football becoming a vanity project for billionaires. Let’s not talk of him & Poch in the same breath

Sam, 16.38: Wenger should now be acknowledged for his influence on British football. Winning the double in his first full season. Poch has nothing in the bank when it comes to trophies. Top four isn't one.

    The Daily Mail

The Daily Mail reports, external the former Blues player, 25, is keen to show he can play in the Premier League if his deal with Arsenal goes through.

Richard Browne: Poch will go to Madrid, never United. And Ole can claim a lot of credibility for his start but De Gea was between him and losing by five or six to Spurs. Let’s not overstate things yet.

Sam: Pochettino should be criticized same way we all criticized Wenger. He hasn’t been able to produce anything of significance. Top 4 is not an achievement

Squonkster: Pochettino is simply full of excuses. He doesn't understand that winning something installs a winning mentality.

Tom: Let's hope United let those who are out contract in the summer either move to other clubs for a nominal fee, or run the contracts down and let them just go. All past their best - some not good enough to start with - and take the rest of the liabilities with them.

  8. Pochettino had plenty to saypublished at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2019

Tottenham v Watford (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino had plenty to say at his press conference earlier today.

Along with claiming "no one believes" in the club and saying Spurs can be on the "same level as Real Madrid" he commented on the lack of signings, and gave a particularly impassioned reply:

"For different circumstance the club has decided not to sign anyone," he said. "I understand everything, I understand the opinion about me.

"The most important thing is that we decide as a club. It is about the decision and working with the resources.

"My view must be different to the chief scout or chairman. Not because I don’t want to sign, it is because we can’t find the right player.

"I don’t know if we have the money. Maybe it is not the financial side. If we don’t sign it is because we can’t, not because we don’t want to."

Super Gian: the only reason why Hudson-Odoi wanted to leave was because of game time. Significant game time from now until the summer and he'll sign a new deal

Robbie: Finally a youth player Chelsea may give a chance. God knows how many we've let go

Ollie Glanvill: Can't wait to watch him live for at least another 5 months

I'd like to see more than a few players leave Chelsea rather than coming in, as I feel our backlog of players is one reason for our temporary slump in form. We have players from Jose, Conte, Hiddink and Sarri. We have a great depth in the squad.. just too many surplus!

    Ryan

Poch has shown he is not ready for the United job. He said trophies are not important but Solskjaer has said this is a must for any big club. Sorry but Spurs are not doing brilliantly.

    WW

Patrick Powell: There's absolutely no way Pochettino would jump ship for United. For one thing United will appoint Solskjaer and for another Poch would want to keep his powder dry for a shot at Real Madrid. It's not going to happen.

Once again, Mauricio Pochettino has got you all talking.

  12. Good news, Chelsea fans?published at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2019

Bournemouth v Chelsea (Wed, 19:45 GMT)

Maurizio Sarri confirmed Chelsea will NOT sell Callum Hudson-Odoi in the January transfer window.

He also went on to suggest the highly-rated striker, who is a target for Bayern Munich among others, will not leave in the summer, either.

While I really like Mata as he offers something different to the other attacking players, he’s not first choice and I understand if he’d want to leave. I’d try and get some cash for him though...

    Anon

Chu O'Sullivan: Mata has delivered when needed routinely for the club but he doesn't provide the quick pace that our other attackers possess. He would be a great squad player but doesn't warrant a starting role.

Grumpy Gregory: Mata is a fantastic player but under successive managers he's been given few chances. We should let him go so he can play first team footy regularly. He deserves the chance.

Should Juan Mata settle for a squad place or move on?

Pochettino's first win at Spurs new ground will be when he visits as new Man Utd manager next season

    Bryan

Well I want Spurs to finish in top four and win a trophy, or at least go out trying. Protecting players is one thing, but seven changes? What's more, whenever we lose, the hero always seems to be the goalkeeper of the opposition. This means we clearly lack precision in front of goal, and that's main reason why we are not title contenders.

  16. Batth completes Stoke movepublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2019

  17. Mata contract talks stallingpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2019

Juan Mata is yet to sign a contract extension at Manchester United, which has opened the door for clubs to express their interest in the Spanish midfielder.

The 30-year-old's contract expires in the summer and if a deal is not reached, he will be able to leave on a free.

Mata joined the Reds in 2014 from Chelsea in a £37.1m deal.

He has seen his opportunities at Old Trafford limited this season, with Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku preferred options in attack.

Ruebster: Poch is right. Spurs are doing brilliantly considering post-WC fatigue, multiple injuries, having played two fewer home games than everyone else, very narrow losses to Man Utd and Chelsea, Speroni was the hero on Sunday. Spurs are 3rd, and in the Champions League knockout round.

Bruce G: Not worried about Spurs not signing players, just want us to get as far as possible in competitions, get fourth place, get our stadium back, get back to winning at home!

We want players who improve the squad not overpriced players like Grealish, still makes me shudder at the thought

Sulaimon: Denis Suarez to Arsenal. Great News. Can Ivan Persic follow suit? I hope so. Time will tell
