Aaron Rodgers comes on for the traditional post-match handshake with opposing quarterback Tom Brady but he looks absolutely disconsolate.

Another shot at the Super Bowl has slipped through his fingers again.

Ultimately it came down to Tampa punishing Green Bay's turnovers and the Packers failing to do the same in return.

FT: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26 Green Bay Packers

A 10th Super Bowl appearance for 43-year-old quarterback Tom Brady is assured.

Only a second Super Bowl appearance in Tampa Bay's history.

Chris Godwin secures the win with a third-down run.

It's a fourth NFC Championship game defeat in eight seasons for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

  3. Postpublished at 23:13 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

There's a debate among the officials about a clock issue here, just to add to the tension.

It results in a Green Bay penalty and a first down and 5 for Tampa. Leonard Fournette is stopped for no gain twice.

Even if they get the ball back, the Packers will have about 15 seconds to do something with it. Surely not enough time.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26 Green Bay Packers

A pass interference penalty has surely handed Tampa a ticket to the Super Bowl.

Kevin King - who was burned for the Tampa touchdown right on half-time - pulls Tyler Johnson's jersey.

It gives the Bucs a fresh set of downs and Green Bay now have no time-outs.

  5. Postpublished at 23:08 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26 Green Bay Packers

A Leonard Fournette run goes for just two yards.

He gets four more yards on the next.

Third down and four. Virtually the game right here... Green Bay have to stop Tampa here.

  6. Postpublished at 23:07 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26 Green Bay Packers

Green Bay concede a penalty on purpose to give Tampa a first down.

They did so to keep the clock from winding down as the Bucs only needed a yard which would have been a formality.

    Smart. Sneaky. But smart.

Martin McVeigh: Does Brady keep throwing the ball to Green Bay in the hope they score and he can do one of his final drive miracles?

Gleddy: As much as being on furlough sucks, at least it means I can watch this game and hopefully get a Green Bay comeback and then a Chiefs win!

All about Steve: Is it too much to ask for a combination of Rodgers and the Packers defense to send this game into overtime? It'd be fitting and I REALLY would like more of this.

  8. Two-minute warningpublished at 23:04 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26 Green Bay Packers

There's time for one play before the two-minute warning and it's an important one as Mike Evans makes a nine-yard catch.

Green Bay have three time-outs left but they need a stop. A couple of Tampa first downs and this is over.

  9. field goal

    Wow, that's an interesting decision.

Rather than go for it on fourth and goal with just over two minutes remaining, Green Bay opt for a short-range Mason Crosby field goal.

They are relying on their defense to stop Tom Brady and get the ball back.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 Green Bay Packers

Two Aaron Rodgers passes have gone nowhere... third and goal.

Davante Adams is covered and the pass is blocked.

  11. Postpublished at 22:58 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

The thing is, even if Green Bay score here and level it up, the Bucs will get the ball back with plenty of time left.

  12. Postpublished at 22:57 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 Green Bay Packers

A good start to this crucial Packers drive.

Jamaal Williams produces a good kick-off return and AJ Dillon adds a nice run on first down.

Aaron Rodgers then drills a pass down the middle to Marquez Valdez-Scantling - and MVS has Green Bay inside the Tampa 30-yard line.

Three minutes and change to go.

  13. field goal

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 Green Bay Packers

A vital field goal from Ryan Succop - 46 yards and he struck it beautifully.

That was a pressure kick because it gives Tampa Bay breathing room with just under five minutes left.

Green Bay need a touchdown AND a two-point conversion to level.

  14. Postpublished at 22:52 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-23 Green Bay Packers

Rob Gronkowski had been a non-factor in this game but Tom Brady's favourite tight end has just exploded for a 30-yard run with his first catch.

Tampa are back in Green Bay territory but a halted run and a Brady incompletion have led to another third down....

Which Brady strangely throws into the ground.

Martyn Bamford: Rodgers has been sacked more times by the Bucs this season than the rest of the NFL teams combined.

Rant-a-Dad: Woeful quarterbacks in this game.

Tongue-in-cheek or not, both QBs have struggled in this second half.

  16. Three and out againpublished at 22:46 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

There's a decent crowd in at Lambeau Field, albeit socially distanced, of course.

Little for them to cheer on the latest Green Bay drive though - it's three and out as they fail to capitalise on successive Tom Brady interceptions.

Tampa gets the ball back with eight minutes to go. Still anyone's.

  17. Turnover - for Packerspublished at 22:42 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-23 Green Bay Packers

    Another Tom Brady interception!

And another pick for Jaire Alexander.

This one owes a great deal to Darnell Savage who puts Brady under all sorts of pressure and he tries to launch one to Mike Evans but Alexander picks it off and keeps his feet in bounds.

    Defenses stepping up.

  18. Sack - for Tampapublished at 22:38 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-23 Green Bay Packers

Pressure on the quarterback has been rare in this game but Tampa's defense comes up with a huge play as Shaq Barrett sacks Aaron Rodgers for a second time tonight.

It came on third down, forcing Green Bay to punt so the interception thrown by Tom Brady is not going to be costly and he will regain the ball in decent field position around the Tampa 40-yard line.

  19. Turnover - Packers ballpublished at 22:31 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-23 Green Bay Packers

A massive moment in this game.

Tampa's receivers have dropped some balls tonight but this one was on Tom Brady.

He overthrows a pass to Mike Evans when the Buccaneers were threatening a touchdown to stretch their lead.

It comes off Evans' fingertips as he leaps as high as he can and falls straight into the grateful arms of Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander.

All about Steve: When the going gets tough, Rodgers gets going...... You have GOT to love an NFL Championship game.

Andrew Priestley: A Brady vs Rodgers shootout in the fourth quarter for a place in the Super Bowl. It was always going to come down to this. Who will have the final possession?
