Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-23 Green Bay Packers

That should have been a big start to the fourth quarter for Tampa Bay but Mike Evans dropped a deep throw from Tom Brady.

The Bucs have juggled a few tonight.

Not so on the next play though as a diving Tyler Johnson reels in a Brady bullet on third down to keep the Tampa drive going.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-23 Green Bay Packers

Another nice return from Jaydon Mickens for the Buccaneers - he brings the kick-off back out to the 45-yard line.

Great field position for Tom Brady as we go into the all-important fourth quarter with the game delicately poised.

Game well and truly back on.

The Packers opt to pass on third and goal - and it pays off as Aaron Rodgers connects with his reliable wide receiver Davante Adams from a couple of yards.

Green Bay decide to go for the two-point conversion to attempt to close the gap to three points but Equanimeous Brown drops a fairly routine grab. Could that be important?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-17 Green Bay Packers

A big penalty here for helmet-to-helmet contact as Tampa's Carlton Davis crunches Davante Adams.

It gives Green Bay prime position inside the Bucs' three-yard line.

Jamaal Williams is stopped short on a run and then Aaron Rodgers has to throw a pass away with no one available on second down...

Some nice plays on this Green Bay drive from rookie running back AJ Dillon, with Aaron Jones out injured.

A big third down for the Packers on the Tampa 25-yard line...

Green Bay convert as Aaron Rodgers flings a pass out wide to Jamaal Williams.

There's the first penalty. Jinxed it by saying there hadn't been any.

Tampa defensive end Ndamukong Suh is caught offside at the scrimmage and Green Bay are beginning to build momentum here.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-17 Green Bay Packers

The turnover battle is so important in play-off games.

It was New Orleans Saints errors that handed Tampa Bay the opportunity to reach this NFC Championship game.

Green Bay mistakes have helped the Bucs establish a lead here too but that Brady mis-throw will give the Packers hope.

  8. Turnover - Packers ballpublished at 22:05 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-17 Green Bay Packers

    Tom Brady is human.

The Bucs quarterback goes for another of those long lofted passes to Mike Evans that were so successful in the first half.

But his aim is off, well off on this one - and it's a fairly straightforward interception for Green Bay safety Adrian Amos.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-17 Green Bay Packers

The Stateside commentators just confirmed what I suspected earlier - there has not been a single penalty flag in this game.

That is crazy - imagine a Champions League semi-final without a foul. Wouldn't happen.

Testament to the concentration and discipline of the players on both sides when there is so much at stake.

Safety Jordan Whitehead is back in the locker room for Tampa Bay.

He has unleashed a number of vicious tackles, including a couple on Green Bay running back Aaron Jones who is also currently sidelined.

Whitehead appears to have a shoulder issue while Jones has hurt his chest. Both are big misses especially Jones who had a 1,000-yard rushing season for the Packers.

    Back in it.

That was some drive orchestrated by Aaron Rodgers.

He connected with a string of different receivers to lead Green Bay down the field before an eight-yard pass finds Robert Tonyan free in the endzone.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-10 Green Bay Packers

You feel Green Bay have to score here and reduce their deficit even though only five minutes have elapsed in the third quarter.

Aaron Rodgers finds Marquez Valdez-Scantling and Equanimeous St Brown in successive plays to test the Tampa defense and my typing.

  13. Postpublished at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

    Jordan Whitehead is pumped up.

The Bucs safety has forced two fumbles from Aaron Jones and now he's turned his attentions to Green Bay's other running back Jamaal Williams with another thumping tackle.

Williams hangs on to the ball though and Aaron Rodgers finds Davante Adams on the next play. A big drive for the Packers, this.

Touchdown - Buccaneerspublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-10 Green Bay Packers

It took Tom Brady and Tampa Bay one play to capitalise on that turnover.

Tight end Cameron Brate is all alone in the endzone and Green Bay are rattled here.

The Bucs beat Green Bay 38-10 in the regular season - we're only 10 points off a repeat.

  15. Turnover - Buccaneers ballpublished at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-10 Green Bay Packers

Nightmare start to the second half for Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers finds namesake Aaron Jones with a short pass and the running back is absolutely clattered by safety Jordan Whitehead.

Jones fumbles the ball which is scooped up by Devin White who is tackled at the Green Bay 10-yard line.

Tampa set up to extend their lead here. Wow.

Green Bay receive the second-half kick-off.

Can they find an instant reply to that huge blow of the Buccaneers' touchdown on the brink of half-time?

Joanna: I really hope it’s Green Bay’s year, especially as my dad had a Cheesehead hat shipped all the way over from Wisconsin for me.

All about Steve: I've seen a few big game anti-climaxes watching sport in my time but THIS is not going to be one of them.

Keep your Super Bowl wishes coming - who do you want to see make the showpiece? Cheeseheads has to be one of the best nicknames in sport btw...

  18. 'Brady identifying who he is going to attack'published at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-10 Green Bay Packers

    Jason Bell
Former NFL cornerback for the Houston Texans on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Oh my goodness. Tom Brady is going to attack wherever he sees a weakness. Scotty Miller can run and just beat his man to the ball.

Players have to win the game and discipline is the quickest way to lose and that was indiscipline by Kevin King.

On third down, Tampa Bay are executing again and again. Tom Brady is identifying who he is going to attack and if Green Bay can't find a way to slow them down on third down they don't have a hope.

  19. A home Super Bowl?published at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

It's worth noting that, if they hold on here, Tampa Bay will be the first team in history to play in a Super Bowl at their home ground, the Raymond James Stadium.

The venue is decided before the season starts and never before has the host club qualified for the showpiece. Until, potentially, now.

  20. Vote results are inpublished at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

It's been a thrilling first half so far and over the past few days we have asked you to vote on which teams would win the championship matches.

And the results are... 60% of you expect the Packers to beat the Buccaneers and in the later match, the Chiefs have been tipped by 65% of you to beat the Bills.

That 60% need a big second half from Aaron Rodgers...
