Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-10 Green Bay Packers

    What a half of football.

What an end to a half of football.

Time answers to no man - unless that man is 43-year-old Tom Brady.

A simply sensational first period from the Bucs quarterback ends with a stunning pass to Scotty Miller and Tampa have an 11-point lead. Work for Green Bay to do in the second half.

  2. touchdown

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-10 Green Bay Packers

    Oh my goodness.

Tom Brady doing Aaron Rodgers things in Aaron Rodgers' backyard.

It looked like the Bucs were just going to try to gain yardage so they could kick a field goal.

Instead, Brady launches one long, Green Bay's coverage is awful with cornerback Kevin King caught napping and Scotty Miller hauls in a 40-yard touchdown pass.

Sean Murphy-Bunting's questionable interception gives the Buccaneers the ball at midfield but Tom Brady is almost picked off by Will Redmond.

He drops it and the Bucs are going for it on fourth down and 3 with 13 seconds of the half remaining.

They need a completion and then a time-out before possibly kicking a long-range field goal...

  4. Turnover - Tampa Bay's ballpublished at 21:22 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-10 Green Bay Packers

    No, we're not.

Aaron Rodgers tries to find Allen Lazard again but Sean Murphy-Bunting is there first and intercepts.

Tampa are fortunate the play is not reviewable as the cornerback was holding Lazard before picking that ball off. He got away with one there.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-10 Green Bay Packers

Back from the two-minute warning and a Jamaal Williams run is stopped short, leaving the Packers on third down and six.

It looks a tough spot but Tampa Bay's defense goes to sleep, leaving Allen Lazard free in the middle of the pitch.

Aaron Rodgers finds him but is then sacked on the next play with just 32 seconds left.

We're going to see a Rodgers Hail Mary attempt, aren't we?

  6. Postpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Apologies if I've missed it but I don't recall a penalty flag being thrown by the officials thus far. That must be some sort of record if I'm right?!

    It's been a really fast-flowing game.

Tom Brady proves he's not faultless on third down with an incomplete pass, forcing the Buccaneers to punt.

Green Bay have the ball with just over two minutes of the half to go - prime Aaron Rodgers territory.

  7. Postpublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-10 Green Bay Packers

Tom Brady is on fire on third down tonight.

He floats a pass to a wide-open Chris Godwin to keep another Bucs drive going right on midfield with three minutes of the first half remaining.

  8. field goal

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-10 Green Bay Packers

Davante Adams makes it a hat-trick of near misses on successive plays.

After dropping a difficult catch on first and goal, he sees a pass to him batted down on second and goal - and then Adams hauls in a Rodgers pass on third down but cannot keep his feet in bounds in the endzone.

The Packers have to settle for a 24-yard Mason Crosby field goal to cut the deficit to four.

  9. Postpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-7 Green Bay Packers

Davante Adams is unable to catch an Aaron Rodgers throw that is slightly behind him that would have levelled the scores.

Linebacker Lavonte David then bats down another attempted Rodgers pass to Adams and it's third down...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-7 Green Bay Packers

Another narrow escape for the Packers as running back Aaron Jones fumbles while being tackled but alert Green Bay receiver Robert Tonyan falls on the ball.

Green Bay have turned the ball over fewer than any other team in the NFL this season but they were fortunate they did not add to that tally there.

Jones follows up with a couple of determined runs and the hosts are six yards from the Tampa line.

This is shaping up to be some shoot-out.

Aaron Rodgers finds Marquez Valdez-Scantling before decent runs from Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones get Green Bay into Tampa's 30.

The Buccaneers had the best defense in the NFL against the run during the regular season, conceding just 80.9 yards per game, but the Packers are getting their rushing game going.

  12. Postpublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-7 Green Bay Packers

A bit of a let-off for the Packers as the Tampa kick-off brushes the endzone line which means they start on their 25-yard line.

Kick-off returner Jamaal Williams had been unsure if it had touched and tried to run out, only to get tackled a few yards from his line.

But Green Bay challenged and won the ruling.

    Jason Bell
Former NFL cornerback for the Houston Texans on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

This is what we wanted to see. We know these guys at any moment could make huge plays. It's a cat and mouse game with the defences.

If you can cut the head off the snake the body dies and that's what they are trying to do. But haven't been able to.

  14. Postpublished at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-7 Green Bay Packers

So much to admire in those two plays.

Chris Godwin's catch, Tom Brady's arm (at 43, how can he still throw like that?) and a superb swivel move on Leonard Fournette's touchdown-scoring run that left a Packers defender on his backside.

  15. touchdown

Touchdown - Buccaneerspublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-7 Green Bay Packers

Wow. Literally a minute ago Tampa Bay were on their own 25-yard line. Now they are 14-7 ahead.

Then Chris Godwin makes up for a poor drop on the previous play by hauling in a mammoth 55-yard throw from Tom Brady, completely outmuscling a Green Bay defender in the process.

The Packers defending is even worse for the next play as Leonard Fournette breaks several tackles to reach over in the corner for a 20-yard touchdown run.

Watch below as the NFL Show's Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell look ahead to the NFL Championship games as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a place in Super Bowl 55.

Who will come out on top in the battle of the quarterbacks as the Bucs' Tom Brady faces the Packers' Aaron Rodgers?

  18. touchdown

Touchdown - Packerspublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-7 Green Bay Packers

Green Bay start the second quarter as impressively as Tampa Bay did the first.

Aaron Rodgers tells Tom Brady, anything you can do...

The Packers quarterback locates wide receiver Marquez Valdez-Scantling on the sideline and he fights off a Tampa defender to haul the ball in and race clear for a 50-yard touchdown.

    Poised.

Neil Smith: Brady has won enough and Mahomes won it last year, so between Rodgers and Allen. But I hope the Bills win it purely to see how many tables the fans break. It’ll brighten up the year! (Panthers fan).

All about Steve: Brady putting down a marker already with a great first drive. Green Bay will have to bring their A-game in all departments if they're going to win this one. Could be a CLASSIC.

To those unfamiliar with the tradition, the Bills Mafia (Buffalo fans) have a habit of breaking tables. There's a story to it but we haven't got time to explain so get your search engine running...

  20. End of first quarterpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-0 Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers follows that pass up with another to Davante Adams and Green Bay are almost at midfield as the first quarter ends.

That was some turnaround in the space of a minute.
