  1. field goal

Field goal - Saintspublished at 23:06 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-26 New Orleans Saints

Trevor Siemian can't convert on third down, with a low throw to an open receiver doing the damage, so the Saints have to settle for a Brian Johnson field goal to make it a five-point lead.

Sean Payton may have gone for that back in the Drew Brees days.

  2. field goal

Field goal - Patriotspublished at 23:04 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

New England Patriots 27-17 Los Angeles Chargers

This Patriots offence is not exactly highlight reel material but they're effective today in their game plan of just grinding down the Chargers, not making many mistakes and running the ball well when they need to.

The field goal, and taking plenty of time off the clock, was all Bill Belichick was interested in there, and after Nick Folk booted his fourth field goal it was after almost seven minutes of possession.

Also a good day to have Folk as your kicker in fantasy football.

  3. touchdown

Touchdown - Seahawkspublished at 23:01 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

    Jacksonville Jaguars 7-31 Seattle Seahawks

You have to laugh sometimes! The Jags go for the onside kick but when Seattle's Travis Homer collects the ball, instead of dropping to the floor like we usually see, he just pins his ears back and takes off, galloping away for a 44-yard return touchdown!

Great heads-up play from the Seahawks' special teams unit.

  4. touchdown

Touchdown - Broncospublished at 22:57 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

    Washington Football 10-17 Denver Broncos

Melvin Gordon scores his second touchdown of the day as the Broncos capitalise on the blocked field goal.

Teddy Bridgewater finds Jerry Jeudy for two big completions to help get the offence into the red zone.

On third and 2, Bridgewater hands it off to Gordon and he runs in for the seven-yard score.

There is some concern for the Broncos as Garrett Bolles is slow to get to his feet and is eventually helped off the field.

  5. touchdown

Touchdown - Jaguarspublished at 22:55 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

    Jacksonville Jaguars 7-24 Seattle Seahawks

Touchdown Jaguars - two words I didn't think we'd be typing tonight but fair play to Urban Meyer, who goes for it on fourth down instead of kicking an easy field goal to ensure they don't suffer a shutout.

And the reward is a Trevor Lawrence touchdown pass to Jamal Agnew, which means almost nothing to this game but is a good lesson in keeping on going until the end for the young QB.

  6. Washington field goal is blocked again!published at 22:53 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Washington Field Goal 10-10 Denver Broncos

This game has seen a comedy of errors and the Washington Football Team commit the latest one but it is a repeat of what happened in the first quarter.

Chris Blewitt is on the field to attempt a 47-yard field goal and yet again it is blocked by the Denver defensive front.

  7. ouch!

Nasty looking fall for Callahanpublished at 22:48 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Washington Football Team 10-10 Denver Broncos

The Broncos defence has been decimated by injuries this season with six starting linebackers out.

And this one could be nasty for Bryce Callahan. Taylor Heinicke is looking deep over the right side for Terry McLaurin and Callahan is with him stride for stride.

There is a tangle of legs as both players lunge for the ball and Callahan steps awkwardly and hyper-extends his left knee.

He is now being attended to by the Broncos' medical staff.

  8. touchdown

Touchdown - Chargers pick six!published at 22:47 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

New England Patriots 24-17 Los Angeles Chargers

Oh, this is a big momentum swinger here as Justin Herbert is picked off by Adrian Phillips, who spent six seasons with the Chargers and takes the ball 26 yards back to the house of his former team.

That's a dagger just as LA were trying to get back into the game, but turnovers are absolutely crucial in tight games like this so that play was huge.

So is the successful two-point conversion that puts the Pats seven points in front.

  9. touchdown

Touchdown - Buccaneerspublished at 22:43 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-23 New Orleans Saints

The champs are right back in this now as Tom Brady launches a 41-yarder to Mike Evans, who had his man beaten all ends up right from his release. He takes a nice catch from a perfectly-thrown ball that loops over the defender and into Evans' hands.

That's the third TD pass of the day for Brady, making up somewhat for throwing an interception and losing a fumble. We're set for a thrilling finish in the Big Easy now.

  10. McManus misses field goalpublished at 22:40 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Washington Football Team 10-10 Denver Broncos

This Broncos drive just about sums up their season. They are finally driving but on first down, Teddy Bridgewater trips over his own feet.

They are unable to make the yards back on the next two plays from scrimmage and are forced to attempt a long field goal.

Brandon McManus had not missed a field goal all season. But his attempt from 53 yards just misses wide right.

Tampa Buccaneers 14-23 New Orleans Saints

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

London Warriors safety Vernon Kay: "Tom Brady has been in the league 21 years. There isn't any situation in football that Tom Brady has not experienced and been successful in."

  12. touchdown

Touchdown - Buccaneerspublished at 22:33 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-23 New Orleans Saints

A big slice of luck for the Bucs as Leonard Fournette looks to have fumbled and coughed up possession only for replays to say he never completed the catch in the first place, so the turnover is chalked off.

Then, Tom Brady throws a seven-yard TD pass to Giovani Bernard to drag Tampa Bay right back into this contest. Brady was never going to waste that second chance, was he?

  13. field goal

Field goal - Chargerspublished at 22:29 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

New England Patriots 16-17 Los Angeles Chargers

We're trading field goals in LA as Dustin Hopkins splits the uprights with a 48-yarder - interestingly that's the third kick of exactly 48 yards that's been made in this game. Probably shouldn't have put interestingly there.

Still, it's a tight game we've got going on here as we enter the fourth quarter.

  14. touchdown

Touchdown - Washingtonpublished at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Washington Football Team 10-10 Denver Broncos

It has taken nearly all of three quarters but Washington have their first touchdown of the game and it is a great play.

It was a strong drive for the Washington offence as they gashed the Broncos on the ground and threw the air.

Taylor Heinicke then puts a deep ball on the money to DeAndre Carter for a 20-yard touchdown.

  15. Postpublished at 22:22 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Former London Warriors safety Vernon Kay: "We should tip our cap to [Saints coach] Sean Payton - two very gutsy fourth-down calls that got them that first down and the touchdown with Alvin Kamara.

"We were sat on the edge of our seat but that was two good calls."

  16. touchdown

Touchdown - Saintspublished at 22:19 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-23 New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara literally walks into the end zone from the hand-off to extend the Saints' lead. The Bucs defence simply had no answer as Kamara darted to the outside and he had enough speed to just ease down to a walk as he crossed the line to score.

That's 23 unanswered points put on the board by New Orleans, who have had the ball for 10 minutes more than the Bucs, and have not turned the ball over yet while Tampa Bay have twice.

All the vital stats that win you games of football in the NFL are with the Saints so far.

  17. field goal

Field goal - Patriotspublished at 22:17 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

New England Patriots 16-14 Los Angeles Chargers

A third field goal for Nick Folk sees the Patriots tiptoe ahead with the Chargers bending but not breaking on defence, but still finding themselves behind.

The Pats have controlled the ball so far in this game, with 10 minutes more of possession than the Chargers, who need to cobble a drive together, just to give their defence a rest, if nothing else.

  18. Kamara getting involvedpublished at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-16 New Orleans Saints

No Jameis Winston but the Saints have the lead, and they also have Alvin Kamara, who dances through some tacklers for a nice 15-yard gain that gets New Orleans in position to score again.

  20. Turnover - Bourne fumbles for Patriotspublished at 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2021

New England Patriots 13-14 Los Angeles Chargers

Just a rough sequence of plays there for the New England offence. They have a 28-yard touchdown rush from Damien Harris called back for a holding penalty.

Then Mac Jones misses Nelson Agholor deep over the left side in the end zone.

On third down he hits Kendrick Bourne, which seemingly gives the Patriots a good field-goal position. But the ball is punched out by Derwin James and recovered by the Chargers.
