  1. touchdown

Touchdown - Lionspublished at 20:57 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Green Bay Packers 30-34 Detroit Lions

Blimey... Detroit are really determined to finish the season on a high, even if it costs them the number one draft pick.

Jared Goff leads a 75-yard drive which is capped by a D'Andre Swift run into the corner for a 14-yard touchdown.

The Lions are back in front with just 1:54 left.

  2. touchdown

Touchdown - Coltspublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Indianapolis Colts 11-26 Jacksonville Jaguars

Finally the Colts find their way into the end zone as Carson Wentz hits Michael Pittman - and then hits him again for the two-point conversion.

Indy go for the onside kick but the Jags recover it comfortably around midfield and will just bleed the clock as much as possible now with just over four minutes left.

  3. touchdown

Touchdown - Texanspublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Tennessee Titans 28-25 Houston Texans

    Houston aren't done yet!

Again it's Danny Amendola that finds space in the end zone to drag this back to just a field goal game. These teams who seemingly have nothing to play for just will not lay down will they?

  4. touchdown

Touchdown - Packerspublished at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Green Bay Packers 30-27 Detroit Lions

Now then. The Packers go in front for the first time since the opening quarter as Jordan Love dumps it off to tight end Josiah Deguara, who follows his blockers to break through and run in a 62-yard touchdown.

Love then runs in the two-point attempt for good measure and Detroit are now set to receive the number one draft pick.

  5. touchdown

Touchdown - Steelerspublished at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Pittsburgh Steelers 13-10 Baltimore Ravens

Ben Roethlisberger fires Pittsburgh into the lead as he hits Chase Claypool and a short slant on the goal line and now it's the Steelers who are still alive in the play-off race.

Just under three minutes left in this one...

  6. field goal

Field goal - Jaguarspublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Indianapolis Colts 3-26 Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have dominated this in truth from start to finish, and another Matthew Wright field goal has surely condemned Indianapolis to a truly awful defeat.

They've got just over eight minutes, but no timeouts remaining with three touchdowns and three two-point conversions required for a miracle.

  7. touchdown

Vikings Touchdownspublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Chicago Bears 17-31 Minnesota Vikings

Two quickfire touchdowns look to have sealed victory for the Vikings.

Kirk Cousins finds KJ Osborn for a 21-yard touchdown and on the seventh play of the Bears' next drive, Andy Dalton delivers a wayward pass under pressure which is picked off by Patrick Peterson, who jinks through untouched to run in a superb 66-yard touchdown.

  8. touchdown

Touchdown - Titanspublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Tennessee Titans 28-18 Houston Texans

    And breathe Titans fans...

Julio Jones (remember him!?) grabs his first touchdown as a Titan as Ryan Tannehill makes it four touchdown passes and that should just about be that for the AFC top seeding.

  9. Wentz comes up shortpublished at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Indianapolis Colts 3-23 Jacksonville Jaguars

Staring down a fourth and 12 just inside his own half, Carson Wentz goes for everything when he launches a deep ball to Parris Campbell, but he just can't bring in the diving catch.

The Jags get the ball inside opposition territory.

  10. touchdown

Touchdown - Packerspublished at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Green Bay Packers 22-24 Detroit Lions

The Packers capitalise on forcing the Lions to go three-and-out as Patrick Taylor punches it in from a yard. They then go for a two-point attempt to level things up but Jordan Love's pass to Amari Rodgers is incomplete.

  11. Tannehill trickerypublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Tennessee Titans 21-18 Houston Texans

It was nearly game really on as Ryan Tannehill looked to be wrapped up, but he slipped his way out of the sack and then unloaded a huge play to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to flip the field on the Texans.

  12. touchdown

Touchdown - Texanspublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Tennessee Titans 21-18 Houston Texans

The Jags and now the Texans showing how tough divisional games are when you're trying to finish off a season like the Colts and Titans are trying to do.

Out of nowhere we've got a three-point game on in Houston as Danny Amendola gets an eight-point haul with the touchdown catch and then the two-point conversion also going his way.

Suddenly there's a few nerves on the Titans sideline and a few Chiefs fans getting a little bit excited about possibly pinching the top seed.

Jonathan Taylor, the league's leading rusher, gets the ball on the one-yard line but he's rejected by a swarm of teal as the Jaguars stand firm against the mighty Colts' offensive line.

They've been a different team today the Jags with absolutely nothing to play for, while the tight Colts have continually shot themselves in the foot.

Kirk Cousins rolls out of the pocket, evades a tackle then launches a bomb towards Justin Jefferson for a 45-yard touchdown.

That's Jefferson's 10th receiving TD this season and only Cooper Kupp has more receiving yards.

  16. Wentz droppedpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Indianapolis Colts 3-23 Jacksonville Jaguars

The Colts are in the red zone but Carson Wentz was sacked for an eight-yard loss and they're struggling again.

It's clearly fourth down territory for the Colts right now though.

  17. touchdown

Touchdown - Giantspublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Washington Football Team 12-7 New York Giants

Jake Fromm wasn't having a good day, but he's just floated a 22-yard touchdown pass to Darius Slayton to get the Giants on the board.

  18. Big pick for Pittsburghpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Pittsburgh Steelers 6-10 Baltimore Ravens

Cameron Sutton gives Pittsburgh a lifeline as he grabs the interception in his own end zone when Tyler Huntley was aiming for tight end Mark Andrews.

Sutton picked the ball almost right out of the hands of Andrews, who had to wait on the ball just a touch with Huntley not putting enough juice on the throw.

Ben Roethlisberger may now be playing to extend his career with what's happening in Jacksonville. Exciting stuff eh!

Andrew Priestley: There’s been no standout MVP candidate this year. The best individual has been Jonathan Taylor, but it’s a QB’s league and Aaron Rodgers has been the best of the bunch in almost every QB efficiency metric. The whole vaccination controversy won’t help him however.

At least one sportswriter has said he won't vote for Rodgers, external as he's yet to receive a Covid-19 jab and admitted to misleading some people about his vaccination status, external before testing positive earlier in the season.

  20. As it stands...published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

If the scores stay as they are and the Colts lose and Ravens win, that means the Las Vegas Raiders would be IN the play-offs before even taking the field against the Chargers later.

If the Chargers won that game (or it was a tie!) they'd take the other spot, but if they lost to the Raiders then stranegly enough it'd all depend on how Miami got on at home to the Patriots.

A Miami win would put the Colts through, a Pats win wold complete Baltimore's remarkable qualification. Still a long way to go yet though.
