Touchdown - Packerspublished at 18:21 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Green Bay Packers 7-0 Detroit Lions

The Green Bay Packers have chosen against resting Aaron Rodgers - they'll get a rest for the first round of the play-offs anyway.

And at the end of a drive lasting over seven minutes from the game's opening possession in Detroit, the veteran quarterback picks out Allen Lazard in the end zone for a one-yard touchdown.

Rodgers completed six of eight passes on the drive for 56 yards. That's why he's a potential back-to-back MVP winner.

  2. TJ Watt strikes!published at 18:19 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Baltimore Ravens

It looked like TJ Watt had grabbed a share of Michaell Strahan's single season sack record as he took down Tyler Huntley and the ball pops out for the turnover.

However, it's gone down as a tackle for loss so Watt will have to try again. Pittsburgh ball though.

  3. touchdown

Touchdown - Jaguarspublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

    Indianapolis Colts 0-7 Jacksonville Jaguars

Well, well, well! The Jags start the game brilliantly and take an early lead against the play-off chasing Colts.

Laquon Treadwell takes in the 12-yard pass from Trevor Lawrence after a 12-play drive of 75 yards from the Jags stuns the Colts.

We did mention that Indianapolis have lost on their last five visits to Jacksonville...

    Pittsburgh Steelers 0-0 Baltimore Ravens

Ravens back-up QB Tyler Huntley is playing again with no chances being taken on Lamar Jackson with Baltimore all-but out of contention for the play-offs.

This will still be a tough hitting game, it always is between these two and Pittsburgh have at least half a chance of sneaking through. It's also set to be Ben Roethlisberger's last game in the NFL.

After the Kansas City Chiefs won last night, the Tennessee Titans now need to beat the Houston Texans to finish the season as top AFC seeds.

And it is a big prize - getting next week off and having home-field advantage throughout the play-offs. The Titans have already beaten the Chiefs, Bills and Colts in Nashville this season as well.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel has done a great job to get them here after dealing with a massive injury list - including superstar running back Derrick Henry, who will return to action in the play-offs.

The formula tonight will be simple - run, run and run some more, as the Texans allow the most rushing yards per game in the league (143.3).

D’Onta Foreman had a career-high 132 yards last week in his third 100-yard game from the last five, and another should follow tonight.

  8. Beasts of the AFC Eastpublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

The Buffalo Bills can win back-to-back divisional titles for the first time since 1991 if they beat the New York Jets tonight.

The New England Patriots haven't lost consecutive divisional titles since 2000 - but they will tonight unless they win at the Miami Dolphins and their big rivals the Jets do them a favour.

    Something's got to give...

The most simple formula here is that the Colts win as expected in the early games, and therefore it's a win-and-in deal in Vegas between the Raiders and Chargers.

BUT, if you're a mischievous soul then how about the Jaguars produce an upset win over the Colts?

That means a tie in this game will see BOTH teams make the play-offs!

Then all of a sudden we're getting images of carve-ups from football World Cups flashing through our minds and the Chargers and Raiders playing out a practice game to ensure both go through.

Of course, being AFC West rivals means they'd love nothing more than to dump the other side out, and this is hardly a sport in which you can easily play for a draw.

But it would be interesting coming down the stretch if the game was level and both sides knew a tie would suffice.....

  10. Can Colts cure Jags curse?published at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Indianapolis Colts v Jacksonville Jaguars (18:00)

    Jonathan TaylorImage source, Getty Images

The Colts just need a win at lowly Jacksonville to punch their play-off ticket, but curiously that's something Indianapolis haven't managed on their last five visits. Add in a defeat in London and it's six straight away defeats against the Jags.

With a staunch defence and MVP candidate Jonathan Taylor, the Colts will pose a big problem for anybody in the post season, but they just have to make sure they get there first.

Taylor will be key here. He needs 266 yards to become just the ninth running back to make it to 2,000 rushing yards in a season, and he did manage 253 against the Jags last season.

And quarterback Carson Wentz is also chasing a record as he's not thrown a single interception in seven road starts this season, and no QB has ever started eight or more road games in a season without throwing a pick.

For the Jags, the only thing they’ve got left to play for is top pick in the NFL Draft again, which they’ll get with a loss.

  12. What's at stake tonight?published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

There are many, many permutations and possibilities tonight but to keep it simple in terms of play-off places, there are three left to play for and seven teams battling it out for them.

NFC wildcard: 49ers & Saints in the running

It's a straight fight between these two, with the San Francisco 49ers in position right now but facing big rivals the Rams. A win will do it, but if San Francisco lose, the New Orleans Saints can pip them if they beat the Atlanta Falcons.

AFC wildcard: Colts, Chargers, Raiders, Ravens & Steelers

It's win-and-in for the Colts against Houston.

The winner of the Chargers v Raiders game gets a play-off spot.

The winner of the Steelers v Ravens can still get through if the Colts lose and a couple of other results go their way.

Read more on the full rundown of what's on the line tonight.

  13. Broncos fire head coach Fangiopublished at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2022

Kansas City Chiefs 28-24 Denver Broncos

Saturday's other game saw Denver's season end with defeat against the Chiefs and head coach Vic Fangio has since been fired by the Broncos.

After Peyton Manning led the Broncos to victory at Super Bowl 50, Denver have missed the play-offs in the last six seasons. No team has ever had a worse run after lifting the Lombardi Trophy.
