  1. What a weekend!published at 04:05 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

It may take a week to recover from the most exciting, and enthralling weekend of NFL action for many a year, perhaps ever.

And still, after dramatic late leads being blown, twists and turns, last-gasp field goals and overtime winners, we've still got two more games to go to find out who will compete in Super Bowl 56.

Our 32 teams have been cut down to four, and they'll do battle next Sunday to see who will fight it out for the Lombardi Trophy.

Read our report on Sunday's action and make sure you join us again on Sunday - you don't want to miss these!

    Sunday schedule

    • Cincinnati Bengals v Kansas City Chiefs (20:00)
    • San Francisco 49ers v Los Angeles Rams (23:30)

  2. Divisional Round resultspublished at 03:56 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

We've had some drama this weekend, with all four games seeing the game won on the final play - three by field goals with the last kick and the final one in overtime.

Three away teams won, with the two top seeds being dumped out, along with Tom Brady and the defending champions.

I don't think we'll see anything like this again.

    • Cincinnati Bengals 19-16 Tennessee Titans
    • San Francisco 49ers 13-10 Green Bay Packers
    • Los Angeles Rams 30-27 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    • Buffalo Bills 36-42 Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes was delighted to come away with the win, but has no doubts that they'll be seeing Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills again in the play-offs.

"We're going to play this team a lot of times in games like this," said Mahomes. "With that quarterback and that coaching staff and the players they have, there's going to be a lot of battles and I'm glad we got this one."

And Mahomes praised his top two targets Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce for their impact down the stretch.

"It was a great game between two great football teams. At the end of the day, guys like Tyreek and Travis made the plays that won us the game."

It was really the only way to finish a play-off game packed with such quality. What a game!

  5. Brilliant Bills will be backpublished at 03:27 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Spare a thought for Josh Allen tonight, who has produced one of the best play-off performances of all time and yet his season is over.

He won the game not once, but twice in the closing stages, and it's only Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs that could've produced that late drama.

In fact, in the form Allen was in, it's probably only the Chiefs that could live with them, and it's just bad fortune they're in the AFC and have to beat Mahomes at some point to reach the Super Bowl.

It's two years in a row now that the Chiefs have beaten the Bills in the play-offs, but Allen has risen a level this season and they'll certainly be back.

And we'd all love to see the play-off rematch next season!

  6. The final fourpublished at 03:18 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

    So what next?

We've got out final four who will do battle next Sunday for a place in Super Bowl 56 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Rams want to follow the Buccaneers in playing a home Super Bowl, but they've already lost twice to the 49ers this season - and in fact the last six in a row to their division rivals.

The Chiefs host the AFC title game for the fourth straight year, but face a Bengals side that have already beaten them this season and who have nothing to lose.

I'm not sure how they'll top this weekend, but these games will no doubt be close calls again with plenty of drama!

    AFC Championship

    NFC Championship

  7. Two minute madnesspublished at 03:12 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-42 Kansas City Chiefs

It's not always like this in the last two minutes of a game in the NFL, but there always seems to be drama in the play-offs.

You won't see stats like this very often though.

Jarleth Eaton: For drama, from all four games, this divisional weekend is the greatest playoff weekend I think I’ve ever seen.

Shrochis:Wanted Chiefs to win but that was incredibly harsh on Allen, who had an unbelievable game. Well played Bills.

Wayne Ellis: Kicking off into the End Zone basically cost Buffalo the game. Unbelievable mistake

  9. Overtime rule change needed?published at 03:09 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

We said beforehand that whoever had the ball last would win this, and that's how it worked out but the overtime rule does place a huge emphasis on winning the coin toss.

It's happened to the Chiefs before against the Patriots, and now Josh Allen never got the chance to get on the field in overtime due to the rule that a touchdown wins the game.

Maybe they need to look at the overtime rules in the play-offs and just play an extra period instead?

  10. Pick the bones out of that!published at 03:05 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

How do we even start to explain what's just happened tonight at Arrowhead, and over the weekend as a whole?

Three away wins thanks to last kicks of the game, then a duel between two of the best QBs around who produced possibly the highest-quality game of play-off football that we've ever seen.

To produce that level of quality under the most intense pressure, all inside the final two minutes of the game was just phenomenal.

We had three touchdowns, three lead changes and a field goal to tie it up all inside the last two minutes!

  11. touchdown

    Touchdown - Chiefs win!published at 02:55 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-42 Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce for the walk-off touchdown!

It's some drive, some throw, and some catch to win it for Kansas City after one of the best games you will ever, ever see.

  12. Chiefs closing inpublished at 02:55 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-36 Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs get inside the 10 with a short pass to Hardman who looked like he'd try to go all the way but just went out short.

  13. Over halfwaypublished at 02:53 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-36 Kansas City Chiefs

A nice screen pass to Jerick McKinnon seems him rumble with the ball inside the Buffalo 40.

  14. Kelce againpublished at 02:52 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-36 Kansas City Chiefs

The star tight end converts on third down as the Chiefs roll up towards midfield.

  15. Chiefs win the toss - get the ballpublished at 02:47 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-36 Kansas City Chiefs

This could be huge the way these two QBs have been playing, as Patrick Mahomes will get the ball first and the chance to win it with a touchdown.

A field goal would give Josh Allen the chance to go and win it with a TD or a field goal to keep the game going, then it's next score wins.

  16. field goal

    Field goal - Chiefs - we're going to OT!published at 02:46 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-36 Kansas City Chiefs

Harrison Butker nails it from 49 yards out! He's missed an extra point and a field goal in this game, but makes up for that now by sending us to overtime.

I know it's late, but you've got to be happy to be seeing more of Mahomes and Allen.

  17. Wow!published at 02:45 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-33 Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce gets down the seam and Mahomes finds him in stride and it's a huge gain that will make it a 49-yard field goal to send us to overtime!

  18. First downpublished at 02:43 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-33 Kansas City Chiefs

Eight seconds left as Mahomes find Tyreek Hill on the KC 44 yard line. They'll still need another 12 to 15 yards on this next play to give Harrison Butker a chance of a long, long field goal.

  19. Out of time?published at 02:42 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-33 Kansas City Chiefs

We said this could be last score the winner, and it looks like it's only the clock that will stop Patrick Mahomes as there's surely not enough time left to engineer something from here.

    Wonderful, wonderful entertainment.

  20. touchdown

Touchdown - Billspublished at 02:39 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2022

Buffalo Bills 36-33 Kansas City Chiefs

They can't! It's Gabriel Davis again! He's wide open right down the middle and it's a simple task for Allen to throw a dart to his receiver to surely win this game now, surely!

Just 13 seconds left to play.
