So, the Jacksonville Jaguars kicked off this year's NFL international series with a comfortable win over the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley.

The Jaguars looked set to run away with the game as they charged into a 17-0 lead after two first-half touchdowns.

The Falcons replied with a touchdown of their own at the start of the third quarter, before the Jags stretched their lead with a field goal.

Atlanta quarterback Desmond Ridder recovered from a woeful first half to keep the game alive, steering the Falcons to Jacksonville's six-yard line with six minutes left.

And although Drake London caught his pass high at the back of the end zone, he was denied a touchdown as he did not manage to put both feet inbounds as he landed.

The Jags, who have made London their second home by playing in every London series since 2013, then added another field goal to ensure they had the final say in their first win at Wembley since 2017.

The key moment in the match was that fourth down throw from Desmond Ridder in the redzone in the final quarter that Drake London caught but could not keep his feet in bounds.

A score there would have closed the gap to 20-14 and it could have been game on but it wasn't to be for Atlanta.

Victory formation for Jacksonville as the clock ticks down to zero.

The Jaguars improve to 2-2 with an impressive win, featuring a fine defensive display.

Desmond Ridder's errors cost the Falcons, who slip to 2-2, and were never really in the game despite a second-half improvement.

That seals it.

Desmond Ridder completes a couple of tidy passes to Jonnu Smith to get the Falcons to midfield.

But he doesn't see Josh Allen coming on the blindside and the Jaguars defender forces a strip fumble that Jacksonville recover.

Atlanta Falcons 7-23 Jacksonville Jaguars

Brandon McManus lands his third field goal of the day, straight through the posts from 38 yards.

The lead is 16 which means that, with two minutes remaining, the Falcons need two touchdowns, each with two-point conversions, just to force overtime.

Not happening.

Travis Etienne Jr's run on third down is stopped short as we hit the two-minute warning.

Jacksonville will kick a field goal when we resume.

The Falcons burn their final timeout after a quarterback run from Trevor Lawrence.

3:38 left and another Jaguars first down will finish this game. They probably don't even need that as Atlanta cannot stop the clock now.

That could be that.

Trevor Lawrence goes big with a deep throw for former Atlanta man Calvin Ridley.

AJ Terrell Jr is covering him but does so unlawfully with the contact preventing Ridley making the catch - that's a pass interference penalty at the spot of the foul.

Which puts Jacksonville into the Atlanta half.

Important first down for the Jags as Trevor Lawrence goes back to his comfort blanket Evan Engram, who stays in bounds to take more time off the clock.

Just four and a half minutes remaining. The Falcons have to halt this drive and quick.

Osi Umenyiora has changed his tune a bit on Desmond Ridder, who has had a decent second half.

"He has gotten stronger as the game is going on and is trying to show why the Falcons have so much confidence in him," the former New York Giants defensive end said on ITV. "You can see why they kept him in the game."

Andrew Priestley: Both of these two teams sit in two of the weaker divisions, so both have decent shots at a playoff spot come January.

Atlanta go for it.

And they are so close.

Desmond Ridder is under huge pressure but launches one to Drake London - he catches it but cannot get his feet down to complete the motion as he's pushed out of bounds.

Jacksonville take over on downs inside their own 10-yard line.

Great pass from Ridder to Jonnu Smith - but the Falcons still need three yards.

This is the game on the line...

A Desmond Ridder pass is batted down and it's third-and-14 for Atlanta.

Be interesting to see what they do if it gets to fourth down. Field goal is no good surely...

A 15-yard run from Bijan Robinson gets Atlanta into Jags territory - and then Desmond Ridder finds third-choice tight end John Fitzpatrick for a huge gain.

Fitzpatrick gets a couple of blocks from team-mates and surges into the redzone.

Just over seven minutes to go and the Falcons will be right back in this if they can grab a touchdown here.

Desmond Ridder almost throws a third interception of the game with a pass that is tipped by a defender but ends up on the turf.

However, he shakes himself down and finds earlier touchdown scorer Drake London for a key first down.

Nine minutes to go.

Atlanta will need two touchdowns to have a chance of winning this match.

They've only scored one all game.

Odds against them but stranger things have happened.
