Heck of an accurate kick from Jags punter Logan Cooke - and his team-mates down it inside the Atlanta 10-yard line to give the Falcons a long field to work with.

  2. Jags forced to puntpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

    Atlanta Falcons 0-0 Jacksonville Jaguars

The first time the officials have to get involved - it would have been a delay of game penalty against the Jags but they just about called a time-out before the clock wound down.

Big third-down-and-five after a short pass to tight end Evan Engram on the previous play - but this one is incomplete from Trevor Lawrence out towards the sideline and the Jags will have to punt.

  3. First down Jaguarspublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

The Jags leaning on Travis Etienne Jr early on and he peels off out wide on third down to earn Jacksonville a fresh set.

The Star Spangled Banner is being belted out - and we're close to getting the action under way at Wembley.

Great to see the American anthem respectfully observed by everyone in attendance. Lovely moment.

And a rendition of the British national anthem follows.

More people know the words to this one.

Osi Umenyiora, the two-time Super Bowl winner, has big praise for the Falcons’ number one draft pick, running back Bijan Robinson

Speaking on ITV, Umenyiora said: “He is such an intelligent player. He reads the game so well, he understands the game so well. Under-rated part of his game is pass protection. A phenomenal player."

  9. Falcons need to 'hit more explosives'published at 14:26 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

Atlanta Falcons v Jacksonville Jaguars (14:30 BST)

The Falcons are making a swift return to the UK having won the other London game in 2021. Since then, long-serving quarterback Matt Ryan has left and his replacement Marcus Mariota lost the starting job to rookie Desmond Ridder last December.

It was very much a transitional year for Atlanta but Ridder, 24, now leads a promising young offence featuring tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London and running backs Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson - all drafted since 2021.

That offence is built on running the ball, and despite Atlanta being 2-1, coach Arthur Smith admits their passing game is yet to catch fire, saying: "It's not for a lack of trying, but we've got to hit some more explosives."

  10. 'We have great players' - Lawrencepublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

Atlanta Falcons v Jacksonville Jaguars (14:30 BST)

As mentioned, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence earned his first NFL win at Tottenham in 2021, one of the few highlights from a turbulent rookie season under Urban Meyer.

But under Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson last season, Lawrence showed why he was hailed as a 'generational talent' when picked first in the 2021 draft.

The 23-year-old led the Jags to victory in seven of their final nine games to reach the play-offs for the first time in nine years. And he was not done there.

After a woeful start against the Los Angeles Chargers, Lawrence regrouped to lead a remarkable fightback from 27-0 down to win 31-30. The following week the Jags ran Kansas City close in a narrow defeat by the eventual champions.

Although they currently have a 1-2 record, their offence still features running back Travis Etienne, tight end Evan Engram and receiver Christian Kirk. And with veteran receiver Calvin Ridley having returned from suspension this season, his former team the Atlanta Falcons could face an aerial onslaught on Sunday.

"We just need to go play," said Lawrence. "We've got great players and I'm going to find them."

Jacksonville were edged out by the Denver Broncos at Wembley last year but their previous trip to London was a happy one for Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.

It was actually the then rookie quarterback's first NFL win.

They beat the Miami Dolphins 23-20 in a 2021 thriller at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

No late own goals or VAR malfunctions in that one.

Atlanta Falcons v Jacksonville Jaguars (14:30 BST)

While the Jaguars are here every year, this is only the Falcons' third trip to London - and they have tasted both victory and defeat on their previous jaunts.

Their only previous game at Wembley saw Atlanta edged out 22-21 by the Detroit Lions in 2014.

But they did win in their second visit to England, triumphing 27-20 over the New York Jets at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2021.

Atlanta Falcons v Jacksonville Jaguars (14:30 BST)

It hasn't been all sweetness and light for the Jaguars when they have visited London, though.

Their record at Wembley as the home team - since agreeing a decade ago to play one home game in London per season - reads won three and lost five.

They did win their solitary game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Miami in 2021. There were no London games in 2020 due to the pandemic, of course.

  15. Jags 'double dipping' in Londonpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 1 October 2023

Atlanta Falcons v Jacksonville Jaguars (14:30 BST)

As Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence has neatly put it, Jacksonville are not just playing their 10th game in London this year, they are "double-dipping", becoming the first NFL team to play two regular-season games outside the US in the same season.

That is because they are staying in town to face Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills next Sunday at Tottenham, so for the first time since 2016, two teams that were in the previous season's play-offs will meet in London.

We're nowhere near must-win territory in the NFL season yet, of course.

But the Jaguars won't particularly want to fall to 1-3 with defeat today.

They were many people's picks to retain the AFC South title after winning the division with a 9-8 record last year.

Atlanta Falcons v Jacksonville Jaguars (14:30 BST)

Not too much was expected from the Atlanta Falcons this season but they find themselves in a wide-open NFC South where it is tough to pick a divisional winner.

They started 2-0 by impressively defeating divisional rivals Carolina and edging out the Green Bay Packers in a thriller.

But they were brought back down to earth a little bit last week by the Detroit Lions.
