A sharp intake of breath on the Green Bay sideline as Jordan Love almost throws another interception, but this time he gets away with it and the Packers will punt.

Rookie kicker Jake Moody had his field goal blocked earlier in the game, but this time his 52-yarder sails clear and just about has the legs to drop over the crossbar between the posts.

It's now a four-point game at the start of this fourth quarter. We've seen Kyle Shanahan in 0-30 when five points down going into the fourth quarter, wonder if this one counts?

Brock Purdy tries to waggle through the pressure but Rashan Garry is waiting for him and drops the QB - it's not quite a sack as Purdy manages to gain a yard in the scramble, but it's the end of the drive and they'll line up for a field goal when the fourth quarter starts.

Great catch from Brandon Aiyuk who takes it off his toes when crossing the field and he manages to get across the sticks to convert on third down.

Jason Bell, former NFL cornerback, on Sky Sports: "This is a momentum changer for the 49ers. Now the offence will be thinking 'the defence did their job, now this is our opportunity'."

Jordan Love's throw on third down is tipped and then intercepted by Dre Greenlaw as at last the 49ers defence comes up big to force the turnover.

Up to now Love has been largely untroubled but San Francisco finally come up with the big play to get the ball back around midfield.

No joy this time for San Francisco, who are reeling on the ropes here with Green Bay answering every time the 49ers thought they'd got a foothold in the game.

There's no really surprise that Jordan Love is thriving and his fellow youngsters in the receiving corps are putting up points, but the defence smothering this 49ers attack is the big surprise so far.

Phew! Breathless stuff in Santa Clara at the start of the second half, following a first half containing 13 points we've had 22 already with three straight touchdown drives.

Speaking on Sky Sports, former NFL cornerback Jason Bell had a clear message about those dismissing 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy as merely a 'game manager'.

George Kittle comes to the rescue with Brock Purdy under all kinds of pressure again but able to lash a ball to his tight end across the middle for a big third-down conversion.

Huge! A hopeful heave downfield to Bo Melton sees Ambry Thomas arrive too soon and get flagged for pass interference that costs the Niners 41 yards!

That's the stock play on third and long, a long throw and hope downfield to either get a big completion or draw a foul - and Thomas has fallen for it and cost his team, again.

That's his second PI flag of the game and they've cost his team 10 points.

Urgh, there's a big mess here, Jordan Love tripped up by his own man then tosses the ball to Aaron Jones who fumbles it and has to race backwards to recover and prevent San Fran from dropping on it.

Costs Green Bay 11 yards.

Another 'spot' of bother as Jordan Love again runs the QB sneak and looks to have stretched out far enough to move the sticks, but the refs rule him just short.

Matt LaFleur isn't convinced so the red flag comes out - think he'll win this one...And he does! First down Green Bay.

We've got some proper play-off football tonight haven't we? Every single yard tonight has been well earned and includes here with two sides able to sling it about only combining for 13 points so far.

Green Bay's defence has really stepped up - their offence has gained yards, held the ball, but not punched it in....yet!

In his half-time interview, Packers coach Matt LaFleur admitted his frustration at not converting in the red zone, saying he 'wishes he had a few of those play calls back'.

He added that his message to his players was: "You're right in it - let's go out and grab it."
