Green Bay Packers 6-7 San Francisco 49ers

Brandon Aiyuk is open in the middle of the field, but Brock Purdy has Packers crawling all over him and can't get enough juice on the throw to find him.

More bad news for the 49ers comes with shots of Deebo Samuel inside the stadium heading for more tests on that shoulder, without his pads on. Looks unlikely he'll be back today.

Crunch time in Santa Clara and the Niners will have the ball first in the second half - looking to extend their brilliant run of six consecutive wins in the Divisional Round, dating back to 2011.

Only the New England Patriots (8) have a longer run.

  3. Jones the key for Packers in second halfpublished at 02:49 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Phoebe Shecter, former Buffalo Bills coach, on Sky Sports: “We saw the damage that Aaron Jones did. He’s wearing down that 49ers defence. He wants to be physical and that’s the identity they need to run with.”

Green Bay have responded to that 49ers touchdown by getting back into the red zone for a third time, but again were unable to grab a touchdown so had to settle for a field goal.

The Packers have had the ball for almost four minutes longer than the hosts so will be concerned about their failure to punch the ball in so far.

They would have been even more concerned had they not blocked that San Francisco field-goal attempt, which leaves the game finely poised.

Jordan Love and Brock Purdy have both completed 10 of 16 passes, for similar yardage, while Green Bay have 59 rushing yards compared to 35 for the 49ers, so making the most of your trips to the red zone could prove decisive.

George Kittle with the only touchdown of that first half, hopefully more scores for us to witness in the second half of this intriguing game.

  6. Half-time - All to play forpublished at 02:37 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Green Bay Packers 6-7 San Francisco 49ers

Impressive stuff from Green Bay on both sides of the ball, but mainly on defence when restricting the free-scoring hosts to just seven points.

And going forward themselves, Jordan Love has had no trouble getting the Packers into the end zone, but they need to be more clinical.

    An interesting second half awaits!

  7. field goal

Field goal - blocked!published at 02:35 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Green Bay Packers 6-7 San Francisco 49ers

Rookie Jake Moody lines up for a 48-yarder but it's quite a low drive and Colby Wooden gets one of his huge paws on the ball to tip it away to safety.

Rotten end to the half for San Francisco as Green Bay remain right in this game with just one point in it.

  8. Time running outpublished at 02:31 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Green Bay Packers 6-7 San Francisco 49ers

Delicate clock management needed for San Francisco in the final minute here, with Purdy completing a pass over the middle then racing up to the line to spike the ball and stop the clock.

With 14 second left you're probably looking at one shot into the end zone then settling for a field goal.

It's a third and two and the Niners bleed the clock all the way down to just 35 second before running another play just inside the Green Bay half.

  10. Two-minute warningpublished at 02:24 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Green Bay Packers 6-7 San Francisco 49ers

We hit the two-minute warning with San Francisco driving towards midfield, but down Deebo Samuel, and trail by a point.

Another good game this one, the teams look pretty event, which is a big compliment to Green Bay given how young their squad is.

  11. ouch!

Samuel doubtfulpublished at 02:21 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Green Bay Packers 6-7 San Francisco 49ers

Deebo Samuel has a shoulder injury and is a doubt to return to the game as he continues to get treatment, now back in the locker room.

That'll be a huge blow if he can't get back on the field.

  12. field goal

Anders Carlson splits the uprights in half with his second 29-yard field goal of the day to put the Packers right back in touch again.

Some brutal hits come in from this 49ers defence, but Jordan Love and the Packers are standing up to it and have the ball down in the red zone again.

  14. Much-needed drive for 49ers - not just for the scorepublished at 02:11 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

After having the ball for just three minutes in the first quarter, that was a much-needed drive by the 49ers, lasting for almost six minutes.

It would have been good just to get their hands on the ball for a while but to come away with the game's first touchdown too is a big boost. How will Green Bay react?

Jordan Love looks to answer quickly as he hits Jayden Reed for a 27-yard completion before Aaron Jones continues to excellent post-season form with a pacey and powerful run down the left sideline.

  16. Postpublished at 02:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Green Bay Packers 3-7 San Francisco 49ers

Jason Bell, former NFL cornerback, on Sky Sports: "It was a great drive. They spread the ball around and it was very efficient. There was no support for the defensive back so Brock Purdy just threw it out there and let George Kittle go and get it."

Or maybe they don't need Deebo at all as they score the opening touchdown of the game!

Brock Purdy buys time and rolls out right before firing a ball to the front of the end zone where George Kittle is there to catch a 32-yard touchdown.

That's a bit more like it from San Francisco after a slowish start, although they'd hardly had the ball until now.

Deebo Samuel jogs off the field presumably for more treatment or tests on whatever's troubling him, and that's troubling for the 49ers to lose one of their star playmakers.

Christian McCaffrey's not 100 percent as they're still working on his thigh on the sidlines - could be a dead leg.

When he gets on the field though he's running hard as usual to get the Niners moving.

  20. Turnover on downspublished at 01:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Green Bay Packers 3-0 San Francisco 49ers

Jordan Love tries the QB sneak on fourth down but officials on the field mark him down just inches short of the line and San Francisco take over!

The spot looked a little harsh on Love but TV replays won't reverse those type of decisions unless it's a huge error so Green Bay come up empty handed from an impressive drive.

"That's a bad spot" says Matt LaFleur on the sideline...
