Being as we're talking about Usain Bolt, here's a question: what's better than listening to Usain Bolt? Listening to Usain Bolt's parents!

Imagine having produced the fastest human in history... Mum Jennifer and dad Wellesley say they never thought their little boy would have enjoyed so much success.

It's going to be more difficult for Usain Bolt in the 200m. You need to have really good speed endurance and that is probably something he missed a bit of earlier this year when he was trying to get back from injury

  3. Gatlin dominant over 200mpublished at 11:36

The tale of the 200m in Beijing is a familiar one: An event where a two-time drug cheat has been dominant, posting three of the five quickest times of the year over the distance.

But can Justin Gatlin perform when the eyes of the world are on him, when the the stakes are high, when it matters the most?

He couldn't in the sport's blue riband event on Sunday, while we all know Usain Bolt thrives on stages such as these.

  4. Can Bolt do the double?published at 11:33

It's that man again, Usain Bolt. Fresh from winning the men's 100m title, the six-time Olympic champion will this afternoon start the defence of his world 200m title.

Who could stand in his way? Justin Gatlin is again in the frame, having set a world leading time of 19.57 in June.

Bolt's season's best of 20.20 only leaves him equal 27th in the world standings so, based on that form, there are many who could block his path to world domination.

I think the way he has been described is fair. I can't stand the sight of him.

This year's 100m silver medallist has refused to speak to the BBC. Gatlin goes in the fourth heat of 200m (12:51 BST).

His agent, Renaldo Nehemiah, told the Guardian:

“Justin, as well as I, feel that the British media and journalists have been extremely unkind to him. There’s been nothing positive said about him now for some time. Every characterisation is solely about doping and vilifying him.

“So, to maintain his own dignity and self-respect, he feels it best not to speak to them. The BBC in particular should report without lacing their comments and reporting with biased views.”

  6. The Gatlin and Bolt show V2published at 11:26

The men's 200m heats begin today (12:30 BST) which means we will once again see Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin on the track, flexing their muscles, putting their fast-twitch fibres to good use.

Inevitably, a day of sprinting, a day of watching Justin Gatlin, means discussions centre around the sport's problems.

In the BBC studio, Dai Greene and Michael Johnson have been discussing doping, with the Welshman describing Gatlin as a man he "can't stand the sight of".

  7. Henderson the favouritepublished at 11:23

Rutherford has been consistent this season, winning three times in the Diamond League, and although he is only fifth in the world rankings, three of the men above him in that list -  Zarck Visser, Marquis Dendy and Rushwal Samaai - have failed to qualify for the final.

The favourite this afternoon, though, is American Jeff Henderson, the world number one who has a season's best 8.52m and jumped 8.36m in qualifying.

The long jump final will begin at 12:25 BST.

  8. An incomplete collectionpublished at 11:19

Today is an opportunity for Greg Rutherford to complete his medal collection. The long jumper is Olympic, Commonwealth and European champion, but has never finished on the podium at the World Championships.

Should he win gold this afternoon, he will join Linford Christie, Sally Gunnell, Daley Thompson and Jonathan Edwards as British athletes to all four major titles at once. No pressure, Greg.

"Rutherford makes a lot of inflammatory comments but there isn't a lot of explanation behind those," Michael Johnson has told BBC Radio 5 live.

"So it's hard to know what's prompted him to make those comments. He may want to look at why he hasn't been able to benefit from being an Olympic gold medallist at home.

"He may find that some of it has something to do with some of these comments he makes.

"If you have a problem with UKA, Twitter is not the place to deal with that and I think he has to learn that. Now's not the time to be focused on UK Athletics - do more jumping, less talking."

  11. Too much talking?published at 11:12

Greg Rutherford has a long list of grievances and he's not finished having his say yet.

He's accused British Athletics of being “more of a hindrance than a help”,, external has claimed he's been paying for his own medical treatment for the last 18 month and reacted angrily to not having a Union flag on his competition vest. There was also chat that British athletes are suffering because of a

But has Rutherford been talking too much? Well, Michael Johnson has an opinion on that...

One or two people aren’t speaking to me. There have been one or two awkward moments in the lift with a few members of staff. That’s fine, I can deal with that, I’m used to being the black sheep. Growing up with ginger hair gives you a thick skin, you’re used to being an outcast.”

Hello! Is it day four of the World Championships already? That means there's only 121 days until Christmas. Time flies.

Anyway. There are plenty of gifts and treats in store for us today, with Christine Ohuruogu, Usain Bolt, Zharnel Hughes, Genzebe Dibaba and David Rudisha all competing.

All we need to do is wrap fairy lights around them all and place tinsel in their hair and we could call it a track and field Christmas Day.

He's described himself as the outcast, the black sheep of British Athletics, but even shunned rascals can make history.

Today Greg Rutherford could become the first British long jumper to hold all four major titles and only the fifth Briton in history to hold Olympic, European, Commonwealth and World crowns.

All he needs to do is jump into the sand further than anyone else. But how far can black sheep really jump?
