  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time

    Banton c Alsop b Hudson-Prentice 6 (Somerset 187-5 v Sussex)

Tom Banton is gone but he is NOT happy about it - and he might have good cause for frustration.

He takes a swing at one outside off stump from Fynn Hudson-Prentice and doesn't appear to hit it.

It flicks off the glove of wicket-keeper John Simpson, who is standing up, and loops up to Tom Alsop at first slip to take the catch.

A half-hearted appeal goes up - but not from bowler Hudson-Prentice or Simpson - and the umpire raises his finger.

Banton stands and looks in disbelief before reluctantly trudging back to the pavilion.

    Middlesex 162-6 v Leicestershire

Leicestershire's Ian Holland bowling against MiddlesexImage source, Rex Features

Middlesex pair Jack Davies and Zafar Gohar have put on 38 runs together as we approach tea but today has been all about the man pictured above.

Leicestershire's Ian Holland has taken four of the six wickets and has figures of 4-26 - going for just 1.85 an over.

  3. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time

    Warwicks v Hants 163-5

Spinner Tazeem Ali is in for his first over of the day and becomes the seventh Warwickshire bowler of the day.

The Bears mixing it up and it's working.

A single apiece to Liam Dawson and Toby Albert from the over takes their partnership to 30.

  4. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time

    Durham v Notts 245-5

The counter-attacking mode continues from new man Lyndon James who slaps Codi Yusuf through cover point for his third boundary.

Yusuf steams in and has a word with the all-rounder in his follow-through. Probably not encouraging.

James responds by punching the next ball through backward point boundary and races to 17 off just 14 balls.

  5. dropped catch

Abell dropped on 13published at 15:27 British Summer Time

    Somerset 181-4 v Sussex

James Coles spins a nice delivery away from Tom Abell and he hacks at it outside off.

It takes a big edge and flies towards Tom Haines with pace at slip but you'd still fancy him to take it.

But Haines puts it down and it's a major let-off for Abell.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time

    Warwicks v Hants 160-5

So Nearly a sixth Hampshire wicket!

Beau Webster gets some real shape back into Toby Albert who is committed to his premeditated shot and top edges to fourth slip.

It's a sharp chance and got to Sam Hain quickly and he can't hang on. Albert gets a life on seven.

  7. 'A third catch for Robinson'published at 15:26 British Summer Time

    Durham v Notts 232-5

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It was just a little nibble from Verreynne but a third catch for Robinson.

Notts were just steering themselves to calmer waters but the 86 partnership is over.

Yusuf has had an excellent session.

  8. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time

    Surrey v Yorkshire 164-5

Matthew Revis rocks onto his back foot and hits a powerful cut past point for four. That's one way to settle any potential early innings nerves.

Vital time in the match right now. Can Surrey kick on and make a decent score or will Yorkshire keep the pressure on?

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time

    Verreynne c Robinson b Yusuf 41 (Durham v Notts 226-5)

Big breakthrough for Durham and a third wicket of the afternoon for Codi Yusuf!

Kyle Verreynne looked in total control but falls after a dangerous 64-ball knock.

Yusuf hits the pitch hard and Verreynne jabs into the ground and it chips off the outside edge through to wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson.

The 86-run stand is broken and Lyndon James joins Haseeb Hameed.

  10. 'You feel this innings hangs in the balance'published at 15:19 British Summer Time

    Somerset 180-4 v Sussex

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

You feel this innings is just hanging in the balance at the moment.

Sussex will feel as if they could grab a few more wickets.

The pitch, as expected, is doing a bit more this afternoon than it did this morning.

  11. 150 runs

150 up for Hampshirepublished at 15:19 British Summer Time

    Warwicks v Hants 154-5

Liam Dawson just leans on a full delivery from Che Simmons through mid-on and it races away for four.

It brings up the 150 in the 53rd over.

Dawson then steers a straight ball around the corner and down to the vacant third man boundary and Dawson goes to 26.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Bairstowpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time

    Surrey v Yorkshire 158-5

Jonny Bairstow has been at his ever-attacking brilliant best this afternoon.

Not one to ever really hang around, the former England man cracks a brilliant straight drive down the ground for four from Nathan Smith to bring up his half-century.

He has raced to 53 from just 63 balls.

  13. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time

    Surrey v Yorkshire 154-5

Surrey captain Rory Burns with bowler Jordan ClarkImage source, Rex Features

The decision by Surrey skipper Rory Burns to have a bowl is looking like a good one at the moment.

Matthew Revis has joined Jonny Bairstow in the middle and he ideally needs to stick it out for a bit to stem the flow of wickets.

Two wickets for just 23 runs have turned the tide in Surrey's favour.

  14. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time

    Worcs 165-5 v Essex

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

There are signs that the effect of the heavy roller is wearing off in this post-lunch period and batting is beginning to look like a precarious occupation.

Shane Snater bowled Kashif Ali with one that kept low before striking the incoming Brett D’Oliveira on the hand with a lifter.

The metronomically accurate Jamie Porter has also found lift from not far short of a length. Nobody has really looked ‘in’ at any point. The bat is being beaten very frequently and any partnership of more than 30 or so looks as though it will be significant.

Rob Jones has posted double figures for the first time this season - now would be a good time for him to push on.

  15. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time

    Durham v Notts 221-4

More agony for James Minto as he takes the edge of Haseeb Hameed's bat, but again it runs safe through the slips for four.

The youngster has not got the rewards for some probing bowling today.

On another day he'll bowl worse and pick up a five-for.

Codi Yusuf is back on and has Kyle Verreynne slamming down his bat to keep out his first ball.

The South African counters with his third boundary.

  16. 'A very fine catch'published at 15:15 British Summer Time

    Surrey v Yorkshire 154-5

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's a good catch from Dom Sibley at second slip. A very fine catch.

It was an awkward height for him but he takes it well.

A lot rests of the Yorkshire captain now.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time

    Hill c Sibley b Clark 3 (Surrey v Yorkshire 154-5)

George Hill has struggled to ever get going since coming to the crease and the frustration gets the better of him.

He takes a wild swipe at one outside the off stump from Jordan Clark and it catches the edge.

It flies towards Dom Sibley in the slips but he takes a good catch.

Yorkshire are under some real pressure now.

  18. Postpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time

    Warwicks v Hants 143-5

Beau Webster goes full again and strikes Liam Dawson on the pad.

The appeal is hopeful and cut short by the umpire. Comfortably missing leg stump.

A ripple of excitement among the Warwickshire faithful as 21-year-old Che Simmons is thrown the older ball looking to inject a bit more raw pace.

It almost does the trick as Toby Albert almost plays on to Simmons' third ball.

  19. 'It's been an interesting day so far'published at 15:10 British Summer Time

    Surrey v Yorkshire 152-4

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

On reflection of that first session, I think Surrey bowled well and as it went on, they upped the ante.

They will be thinking that they got better as time went on, the final overs of the morning session they really went at them.

It's been an interesting day so far.
