Summary

  1. Division Two round-uppublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 29 August

Glamorgan players celebrate a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Gloucestershire are struggling early on at home to Northants - they are 33-4 and only one batter has got into double figures so far.

Luke Procter and Justin Broad are doing the business with the ball for the visitors.

Leicestershire are two down for 36 against Glamorgan with Timm van der Gugten picking up both wickets in Cardiff.

Sussex are going along nicely at Hove against Derbyshire. Openers Daniel Hughes (39*) and Tom Haines (18*) have moved their side on to 60 without loss.

  2. wicket

WICKET Kashif Ali b Porter 24published at 11:55 British Summer Time 29 August

    Essex v Worcs 46-5

Yeah, that one is on us!

Kashif Ali had looked good, but he will look good no more.

The Worcestershire batter rocks onto his back foot but can only chop Jamie Porter onto his stumps.

    Porter's figures? 4.5-2-15-4. Nice.

  3. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 29 August

    Essex v Worcs 45-4

Just four more runs and Worcestershire are away from their lowest Championship score against Essex.

In reality, that is not a worry now thanks to Kashif Ali and Brett D'Oliveira's proactive scamper away from danger.

Ali has unfurled a couple of delightful shots, including a Louvre-worthy cover drive.

  4. Carse makes comeback after betting banpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 29 August

    Somerset 56-2 v Durham

Brydon Carse has been itching to bowl for more than three months and finally, after completing his suspension for breaching betting rules, the England white-ball international gets his chance.

Plenty of aggression in Carse's opening over - and he's unlikely to have that out of his system just yet, especially after being pulled for four by Lewis Goldsworthy.

It shouldn't have been more than a single, but let's just say the fielding at long leg left much to be desired...

  5. Postpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 29 August

    Lancashire v Hampshire 30-1

A lovely shot straight down the ground from Nick Gubbins slows up just before the boundary.

He gets three when it should be four. Normally the ball shouldn't be holding up in the outfield at the end of August.

And again, a fine punch through the offside beats the field but only gets him two.

  6. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 29 August

    Somerset 50-2 v Durham

Tom Abell scored an unbeaten century to steer Somerset to victory the last time they were in County Championship action here and he's started nicely today.

Bas de Leede has just come on to bowl for Durham and Abell promptly punched him twice through the covers for fours to bring up the home side's 50.

He's 13 not out, with Lewis Goldsworthy going well on 26 at the other end.

  7. wicket

    WICKET Leaning c Hain b Hannon-Dalby 8published at 11:44 British Summer Time 29 August

    Warks v Kent 44-3

Oliver Hannon-Dalby has nipped one off the seam perfectly to see off Jack Leaning.

The ball pitched on around middle stump and moved away from the batter, clipping the outside edge on the way through to Sam Hain at first slip.

Kent have been scoring at a decent rate, but keep losing wickets, and could find themselves in a bit of trouble. Warwickshire have a point.

  8. Youngster Hogg off to a good startpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 29 August

    Somerset 35-2 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

While all of the talk ahead of this one was about a championship debut for young Archie Vaughan, it's another youngster who has been among the action already.

Daniel Hogg took 7-66 against Notts last week, the best figures by a Durham debutant. And he had his first wicket today in the sixth over, after Somerset chose to bat.

Tom Lammonby clipped a rising ball to Ben McKinney at mid-wicket when on nine.

Andy Umeed had already fallen first ball of the game after he edged Ben Raine to Ashton Turner at second slip.

Durham have lost Neil Wagner to a shoulder injury for the rest of the season, but Brydon Carse has returned today, following a three-month ban for betting on cricket matches, which he wasn't allowed to do.

  9. wicket

WICKET Sibley c McCann b Lord 9published at 11:40 British Summer Time 29 August

    Notts v Surrey 26-1

Rob Lord has his first Championship wicket and it's a good one in Dom Sibley.

The Surrey opener steers it low into the hands of second slip. It looks like he wants to leave it, but it catches the low part of the bat and is like the chance you see given in practise before play.

Ryan Patel comes in at number three for the visitors.

  10. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 29 August

    Lancashire v Hampshire 20-1

A little bit short from Tom Aspinwall and Fletcha Middleton rides it well with a fine cut shot to the point boundary.

It is not easy going for the batter so Middleton will be pleased to get his first four.

  11. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 29 August

    Essex v Worcs 14-4

Finally some respite for Worcestershire as Kashif Ali soft-handily edges through gully for four.

    A much-needed boundary after a horror start.

Those four wickets fell in 13 balls.

  12. Postpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 29 August

    Yorks 42-0 v Middx

Perfect start from the Yorkshire perspective, with Adam Lyth and Finlay Bean continuing to rattle along at more than five an over.

Middlesex have struggled to establish early control in games all season and they're under the pump again here, so it's time to ring the changes as Tom Helm enters the attack at the Kirkstall Lane End.

  13. Farhan thrown the ballpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 29 August

    Notts v Surrey 19-0

We have only had six overs and Notts captain Haseeb Hameed turns to Farhan Ahmed.

The 16-year-old off-spinner is straight into the action - who said teenagers were incapable of doing much before midday?

  14. wicket

WICKET: Lammonby c McKinney b Hogg 9published at 11:24 British Summer Time 29 August

    Somerset 25-2 v Durham

Daniel Hogg, who took a seven-for on his Championship debut last week, is among the wickets again for Durham.

The 19-year-old beats Tom Lammonby's outside edge and then, with the next ball, tempts him to pull - but the left-hander makes a hash of it and the ball sails up into the hands of midwicket.

Tom Abell is next man in for Somerset.

  15. wicket

WICKET Hose c Pepper b Porter 0published at 11:24 British Summer Time 29 August

    Essex v Worcs 10-4

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Two in three balls for the Jamie Porter and wicketkeeper Michael Pepper combo.

Adam Hose pushes unconvincingly outside off stump and nicks off to Pepper.

Quietly, Worcestershire's lowest Championship score is 24.

  16. wicket

    WICKET Bell-Drummond c Bethell b Rushworth 9published at 11:22 British Summer Time 29 August

    Warks v Kent 23-2

Daniel Bell-Drummond tries to angle one through third but finds the hands of Jacob Bethell at third slip.

That is a nice way to celebrate your first England call-up!

  17. Notts new boyspublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 29 August

    Notts v Surrey 18-0

Brett Hutton has a new new-ball partner for Notts this morning.

Rob Lord is making his first-class debut, having done well in the One-Day Cup.

He was playing for Cheshire earlier in the summer.

Behind the stumps with South Africa wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne making the first of three appearances.

His last match was 11 days ago in a Test in the West Indies - the perfect example of the itinerant life of a modern international.

There is also a debut for off-spinner Farhan Ahmed, the 16-year-old younger brother of England leg-spinner Rehan.

  18. Big day for Archie Vaughanpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 29 August

    Archie VaughanImage source, Getty Images

Archie Vaughan is set to make his County Championship debut today.

The 18-year-old son of former England skipper Michael was given a round of applause and I'm sure a few words of advice by his team-mates before play started this morning.

How do you think he will get on during his first class bow?

  19. wicket

WICKET Jones c Pepper b Porter 1published at 11:19 British Summer Time 29 August

    Essex v Worcs 10-3

Who says the Kookaburra is hard to take wickets with? Not Essex.

They were the only team to win with the different make of ball earlier in the season and are going through Worcestershire here.

Jamie Porter holds the ball outside off stump, Rob Jones is turned around and Michael Pepper takes a good low catch.

  20. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 29 August

    Warks v Kent 22-1

Four slips in position for Warwickshire and the last of the four has spilt a regulation chance.

It came a little quick and he is fairly close, but still very very catchable.

Ben Compton has a life on 1.
