    Middx v Yorks 117-7

Yorkshire's lower order are wisely taking the view that if a bad ball comes along, they have to make the most of it.

Ben Coad pulls Ryan Higgins for four and in the all-rounder's next over, George Hill chops it away to the backward point boundary.

  2. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 31-3

Close to two in two balls for Shane Snater!

Terrific length again from Snater as he squares up new batter Tom Bruce and the ball bounces just before the gully fielder.

Snater's figures are currently three for one.

WICKET Bohannon c Elgar b Snater 0published at 15:36 British Summer Time 19 April

    Essex v Lancashire 31-3

Tidy stuff from the Essex bowlers since the restart.

Maidens from both Shane Snater and Sam Cook, with Josh Bohannon still waiting for his first run.

And he remains on nought as Snater finds that edge and that is superbly snaffled by Dean Elgar at slip.

An 18-ball duck for last season's Division One run-scorer.

  4. Postpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 19 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 182-1

A slight chance for Hampshire as Warwickshire run on a mis-field, but Nick Gubbins' throw to the wicketkeeper's end is not accurate enough.

But there is nothing wrong with Will Rhodes driving a Liam Dawson delivery past mid-off for four.

    Worcs v Durham 169-7

Ben Raine's turn to attack as he takes Adam Finch for two fours from three balls.

Then Ollie Robinson follows suit in the very next over off Matthew Waite.

He strokes a boundary off the first bal and then lofts the next over the bowler's head over the long-off boundary for six.

Robinson holds the pose, then resets and does the very same to the fifth ball of Waite's over, hitting it this time slightly straighter over the pavilion roof.

Sixteen off the over and Robinson scorches to 40 off 30 balls.

  9. Tea at Northamptonpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 19 April

    Northants v Glamorgan 93-4

WICKET Tattersall lbw Higgins 5published at 15:24 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 98-6

  11. Postpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 19 April

    Middx v Yorks 95-5

It's all happening at Lord's. Ryan Higgins goes past the edge of George Hill's bat with a beautiful away swinger before the all-rounder responds with a boundary to third man.

Middlesex think they have Jonny Tattersall caught at gully off Ethan Bamber in the next over but the umpire decides that the bat bit was missing from the bat-pad appeal.

150 up for Durhampublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 19 April

    Worcs v Durham 150-7

Play has resumed following a short interruption at Northampton where Glamorgan are 86-4 in the 28th over - with Colin Ingram (29*) and Chris Cooke (24*) the not out batters.

Two wickets in three balls, a tremendous burst from Craig Overton - he can do that to you.

Now Notts are in real danger of being blown away before tea.

  16. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 19 April

    Somerset v Notts 160-7

Brett Hutton won't be full of confidence at the crease.

He looks jumpy as he faces a fired-up Craig Overton after bagging a pair against Essex in his only match of the season.

An edge falls just short of second slip to spare him a third straight duck.

Then he takes a single to get off the mark for the season. And relax.

Simon Hughes has just revealed on BBC Radio Solent that today is Dickie Bird's 93rd birthday.

Happy birthday to cricket's most famous ever umpire.

My favourite memory is of him shouting at a hospitality box at Old Trafford at a Test in 1995 when sun was shining on the pitch from a TV screen.

That's right - a typical Manchester day of blazing hot sunshine!
