    Leeds 1-2 Southampton

    Ian Woodcock
    BBC Sport at Elland Road

Southampton bring on Ross Stewart for just his third appearance since joining from Sunderland in the summer.

The Scotland international striker has had most of the past 18 months ruined by injury.

The man, once dubbed the 'Loch Ness Drogba' in one of football's great nicknames, is a real handful at this level when he's on his game.

Could he yet have a big say on if the Saints end the season celebrating promotion?

  2. RED CARD - Jerry Yates and Japhet Tangangapublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Swansea 0-1 Millwall

Swansea substitute Jerry Yates and Millwall centre-back Japhet Tanganga have both been sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

It's unclear what sparked it all but Yates seemed to throw a punch at Tanganga, apparently in retaliation to something the Millwall player said.

Both teams down to 10 men for the last five minutes or so.

Casper De Norre put the Lions ahead on 72 minutes with his side heading for a fifth straight win to end the campaign.

    Ipswich 2-0 Huddersfield

The excitement is barely being contained at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town are five minutes from being promoted to the Premier League.

Crucially, the players are remaining poised. This is a slick way to get the job done.

  4. goal

GOAL: Coventry 1-2 QPRpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Jamie Allen (83 mins)

Great work from Haji Wright who beats a defender and stands the ball up to the far post where Jamie Allen is waiting to nod in from a few yards out.

Still time for a Sky Blues equaliser!

  5. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 3-1 Watfordpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Isaiah Jones (84 mins)

That Hornets goal only seems to have stung the hosts into action.

Luke Ayling is afforded loads of space down the right and cuts it back to the similarly unmarked Isaiah Jones who has time to slot it home and seal the points.

  6. 'Canaries lethargic'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Birmingham 1-0 Norwich

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport senior football news reporter at St Andrew's

It’s all about Birmingham at St Andrew’s but, from Norwich’s point of view, they are limping into the play-offs.

The Canaries have been lethargic this afternoon and, while they were always likely to finish in the top six on the final day, there has been little evidence to suggest they are going into the play-offs with any momentum.

Two wins from their final seven games – if results stay the same – is not form which will frighten prospective opponents Leeds.

Every team in the play-offs this season has its weaknesses, though, and in Gabriel Sara, Josh Sargent and Borja Sainz the Canaries still have the talent to take advantage.

  7. 'Game petering out'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Leeds 1-2 Southampton

    Ian Woodcock
    BBC Sport at Elland Road

Leeds boss Daniel Farke stands at the edge of his technical area looking pensive.

This game, along with their automatic promotion hopes,is petering out in fairly unspectacular fashion at the moment and it'll be interesting to see how many stay behind to for the lap of appreciation at the end of the game.

Make no mistake, these fans will be back and in full voice in a couple of weeks for the second leg of their play-off semi-final against as yet undecided opposition but this has been a chastening few weeks after a season of so much promise.

  8. Postpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Plymouth 1-0 Hull City

Liam Rosenior has emptied his Hull City bench, the last man to emerge from it is Billy Sharp, a name etched in promotion folklore down the years.

Can he help Hull keep their dwindling play-off hopes alive, and condemn Plymouth to relegation in the process?

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Leicester 0-1 Blackburn

    This game is not over!

Leicester have less than 10 minutes to make this an historic campaign.

A win would see them reach 100 points and equal a 104-year record of 32 wins in a second division season.

Harry Winks goes looking for a leveller, and clatters an effort off the crossbar.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Birmingham 1-0 Norwich

Lengthy stoppage in the second half as Shane Duffy has taken a blow to the face.

This game looks destined to finish well after the games involving the other sides in the battle at the bottom.

Danny Batth comes on to replace Duffy, who they will want in the play-offs, barring a Hull miracle this afternoon.

  11. 'Impactful Sarmiento'published at 14:08 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Ipswich 2-0 Huddersfield

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

Jeremy Sarmiento is a real impact player. He does what good subs do - they don't dwell, they don't take their time. He makes the impact.

Sarmiento has just come off the bench, but takes all of two minutes to threaten with a shot that is blocked.

  12. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 2-1 Watfordpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Alex Bangura (78 mins)

Watford weren't on level terms for long!

Five minutes after Hoedt's leveller, Middlesbrough are back in front thanks to Alex Bangura.

Sam Greenwood twists away from a few tacklers and pulls it back to the penalty spot to Bangura who sends it into the goal despite not making the cleanest of contact with the ball.

    Bit of a shinner there.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 14:07 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Sunderland 0-2 Sheff Wed

All Sunderland of late, and maybe there will be some lingering nerves in the Owls end.

Adil Aouchiche is denied by keeper James Beadle from the latest opening.

  14. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Leicester 0-1 Blackburn

Leicester come close to putting Blackburn on edge again.

Ricardo Pereira swings a deep cross into the mixer, and in the end it takes a Harry Pickering clearance on the line to protect Blackburn's lead.

Just moments later, Stephy Mavididi smashes an effort just over the bar for the hosts.

  15. CLOSE!published at 14:05 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Birmingham 1-0 Norwich

Paik Seung-ho and Keshi Anderson who combined to conjure the breakthough are withdrawn by Gary Rowett with Lukas Jutkiewicz and Juninho Bacuna introduced.

Jutkiewicz has been involved in last-day Blues drama three times down the years, the club's longest servant is hoping that today will finish in their survival for the fourth time.

His first involvement is to rise at the back post but glance a header wide from Ethan Laird's fine cross.

  16. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 1-1 Watfordpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Wes Hoedt (73 mins)

    Equaliser for the Hornets.

Wes Hoedt flicks in Yaser Asprilla's corner to level things up.

  17. goal

GOAL: West Brom 3-0 Prestonpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Darnell Furlong (68 mins)

    That will definitely do it.

Darnell Furlong was involved in the first two goals and he has scored the third after good work from Conor Townsend.

  18. goal

GOAL - Rotherham 5-2 Cardiff Citypublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Jordan Hugill (69 mins)

It's a second goal for Jordan Hugill who takes advantage of Nat Phillips' horror backpass to score the hosts' fifth.

Who saw Rotherham scoring five today? Get yourself a lottery ticket if you called this one.

  19. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Leicester 0-1 Blackburn

Sammie Szmodics cannot contain his celebrations and wheels away with his shirt off.

The referee can't ignore it and shows the obligatory yellow card.

  20. 'Life sucked from St Andrew's'published at 14:01 British Summer Time 4 May 2024

    Birmingham 1-0 Norwich

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport at St Andrew's

It was a great instinctive header from Paik Seung-ho after Anderson's shot hit Gibson, a quick reaction to guide the ball into the corner to give Birmingham lift off - until the news from Leicester came through.

Whatever Blues do here it will not be enough if champions Leicester do not recover to beat Blackburn.

The news of that goal has sucked the life out of the atmosphere here.
