    Derbys 72-5 v Leics 574-7 dec

    Straight out of the textbook.

Ben Mike overpitches and David Lloyd strokes it through the covers for four runs to reach 50 off 63 balls.

It's a bit of a solo hand by Lloyd at the moment and he needs some support if Derbyshire are to get anywhere near avoiding the follow-on.

    Somerset 454 v Notts 193 & 48-2

    It's that man again!

After his heroics with the bat yesterday Craig Overton takes the first wicket of the morning at Taunton with a beauty.

The ball pitches just outside off and then moves back inside sharply to go through the tiny gap between bat and pad and take out middle stump.

Haseeb Hameed didn't give much to aim at but Overton has bowled him through the gate.

Big wicket for Somerset, major setback for Notts.

A regulation catch for stand-in wicketkeeper McKenna and he receives plenty of pats on the back from his Essex team-mates.

    Essex 377 v Lancashire 146 & 22-1

A change behind the stumps for Essex as 19-year-old Ronnie McKenna is called up to keep as a substitute.

No word as to why Michael Pepper is absent for Essex but we will let you know when we get it.

Basildon-born McKenna plays for Essex's 2nd XI but has never played a first-class match. He's looked fairly assured so far despite probably being a little nervous.

Certainly Essex start the day by far in a better position.

The wicket is probably more favourable to the batsman than it has been on either of the two proceeding days.

There's a lot of cricket to be played and it may well go deep into tomorrow before we have a final result.

    Just what Middlesex wanted.

Ethan Bamber gives Ben Coad a bit of width with the opening delivery of the day's second over and he obligingly slices it into the hands of Leus du Plooy at gully.

Coad goes without addition, ending a stand of 62 with George Hill. Yorkshire are 139 ahead as Dan Moriarty comes out to bat.

Essex seamer Sam Cook said everybody in the side has chipped in this season which has seem them off to a positive start to the campaign.

Essex are well on top against Lancashire at Chelmsford as they look to wrap up victory inside three days.

"To be 220 odd in front having them one down I don't think we could have asked for much more. It puts us in a really strong position," Cook said.

"It's nice to see everyone in the runs and wicket taking being spread around. Everyone is contributing."

Cook also said he relished the opportunity to face Australia spinner Nathan Lyon with the bat on Saturday having made 49 as nightwatcher.

He added: "Coming up against people like that in county cricket is a test of your skills and obviously I want to get better in all aspects of my game."

By the close, Notts were 38-1 in their second innings after Ben Slater fell for eight, leaving them trailing by 223.

Batter Nick Gubbins has warned Hampshire not to take it for granted that their match with Warwickshire is heading for a draw.

Left-hander Gubbins notched his third half century of the season - and is unbeaten on 67 - as Hants resume day three on 140-1 in reply to Warwickshire's first-innings total of 455.

"The nature of these flatter wickets means the game is quite attritional but we've seen enough cricket to know things can happen on day three and four," Gubbins said.

"There are cracks in the pitch which are a bit wider and we still think something can happen on day three and four.

"We need to make sure we are the ones driving the game forward."

David Bedingham and captain Scott Borthwick have put Durham in a commanding position at the start of day three against Worcestershire in Kidderminster.

The Pears started well in the early stages of day two but the loss of Jason Holder and Jake Libby (61) put them on the back foot as Durham bowled them out for 184 to establish a first innings lead of 60.

Bedingham continued the form he had shown after making his Test breakthrough for South Africa in the winter, with his second fifty requiring just 24 balls as he raced to three figures off 79 deliveries before eventually departing for 138.

By the close, Durham had extended their overall advantage to 379 with five second-innings wickets intact to leave Worcestershire facing a daunting task to avoid a first setback of the season.
