  1. 'I tried my absolute best' - Piastripublished at 16:14 British Summer Time

McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who finished second at the Austrian Grand Prix: "Intense, I hope it was good watching because it was pretty hard work from the car so tried my absolute best but could have done a better job when I just got ahead momentarily but it was a good battle, bit on the edge at times. Probably pushed the limit a bit far but it was a good race and that's what we were here to do, race each other and try and fight for wins. That's what we did today, it was close for me but not quite enough. Thanks to the team. To have the kind of pace we did whilst battling each other, it was very impressive. I can't thank the team enough for the car we've got.

On if he was surprised to push team-mate Lando Norris so close: "I thought it was possible. Qualifying, yesterday, was unfortunate with the yellow flag. I felt like the pace this weekend has been good. Once I could stay in the DRS, it felt pretty good. Once I dropped out after the first stop, it was tough to make the progress to get back. Some things to go over to see if we could have done anything better."

  2. 'It was a perfect result for the team' - Norrispublished at 16:09 British Summer Time

McLaren’s Lando Norris, who takes his third win of the season in Austria: "It was a tough race, pushing all the way through, it was tricky, hot and tiring. It was a perfect result for the team, a one-two is exactly what we want and we did it again so I’m very happy.

On the battle with his team-mate Oscar Piastri: "We had a great battle that’s for sure, it was a lot of fun and stress. A nice battle so well done to Oscar [Piastri], hopefully it was a nice one for everyone to watch.

"Inside the car it was obviously tough especially in the DRS, it’s so tough round here and it’s hard to get him out of the gap but once I did I could manage things pretty well, but it was still quick so it was good fun."

Champagne momentpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time

The trophies have been handed out - by former F1 bigwig Bernie Ecclestone, who give Lando Norris' cheek a little stroke - and now it's time for the Briton, Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc to spray each other with expensive champagne and celebrate.

Piastri's lead over Norris at the top of the drivers' championship was 22 points before today's race, now it's down to 15 points.

Oscar Piastri, meanwhile, is sitting all alone in the cooldown room, no friends to watch the highlights with. "Ah, that was fun," says Lando Norris when he arrives. The Australian then tells his team-mate and Charles Leclerc to look, as the incident with Franco Colapinto flashes up on the screen. That could've been a big moment in the title race, had Piastri's race been ruined.

  9. Norris wins in Austriapublished at 15:49 British Summer Time

Gabriel Bortoleto and Fernando Alonso embrace after that race - I keep forgetting the Spaniard is rookie Bortoleto's manager. The Sauber is on cloud nine as he picks up his first points of the season in eighth, Alonso ends his day in seventh.

Lewis Hamilton finishes fourth, George Russell is fifth and Liam Lawson comes home in sixth to cap off a positive weekend for. the Racing Bulls man.

Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Ocon complete the top 10.

Fantastic racing from the two McLarens throughout, this must surely be the most excitement we have seen at the front for years. Credit to the entire team for letting them play. And it ain’t over yet!

Motivational pep talk for Lando Norris, his engineer keeping his spirits high as we close in on the end of this Austrian Grand Prix. The problem for Norris, however, is a three-way fight between Fernando Alonso, Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg.

It looks like the front-left upper flap on Lando Norris' wing has a little bit of damage, it's nowhere near as stable as it should be.

I'm guessing that will be from running over kerbs and potentially a little bit of gravel.

  19. 'Opportunity for Ferrari to score reasonable points'published at 15:38 British Summer Time

    Lap 66/70

    Ben Edwards
F1 commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's an opportunity for Ferrari to score reasonable points here, especially with just George Russell behind them in fifth place. Ferrari may well move ahead of Mercedes in this race [in the constructors' championship] which will be a good boost for the team.

They've made quite a few changes to the car for this weeknd and it does seem to be working reasonably well.

It's not up to the pace of the McLarens, they are in a bit of a world of their own at the moment.

  20. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time

    Lap 65/70

Can Lando Norris keep hold of the race lead? It looks like he will, but the gap is under two seconds and Oscar Piastri isn't too far away.
