  1. Bronze Medalpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 2 August 2014

The Australians peg back two points before Alison Waters kills a forehand which leaves a scrabbling Kasey Brown helpless.

Match point for England it is. And Waters' partner Emma Beddoes provides the killer blow at the first attempt for a 2-0 (11-3 11-5) win. Cue tears of celebration.

Rachael Grinham and Kasey Brown both have Commonwealth doubles medal in their trophy cabinets. But the Australians need to climb an Everest-scale mountain to get another one. England's Emma Beddoes and Alison Waters lead 9-3 in the second - they're just two points from nicking bronze.

"Good on Northern Ireland light-flyweight Paddy Barnes, winner of his country's first gold medal of the Games. Barnes, a two-time Olympic bronze medallist, also beat Devendro Laishram in the quarter-finals at London 2012. With Olympic bronze medallist Michael Conlan and 19-year-old lightweight Joe Fitzpatrick to come this afternoon, that tally could be tripled."

England v Australia is always one to get the juices flowing, especially when there's a medal at stake. This time, the colour is bronze as English pair Emma Beddoes and Alison Waters battle Kasey Brown and Rachael Grinham for that final place on the podium.

Beddoes and Waters have one foot on the stage, leading 1-0 in the best of three match. Watch how they fare.

Nigeria's Paul Kehinde is the early pace-setter in the Para-sport men's lightweight powerlifting competition.

Kehinde, who is competing in Group B, lifted 202kg for a total of 215.6 with the main competitors to follow in Group A, including England's Ali Jawad.

The winner is determined by a formula which equates each athlete's bodyweight to a coefficient, which in turn is multiplied against their best result.

  6. Barnes beats Laishram - men's light flyweight finalpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 2 August 2014

Northern Ireland's Commonwealth men's light flyweight champion Paddy Barnes, speaking to BBC Sport: "Devendro Laishram is a strong fighter and wiry, I didn't have a plan I just got stuck in. I fought him before in the Olympics in London, again then it was a tough fight. The boxer who wins the first round wins the fight 99% of the time, so winning that was key."

Some breaking news. Botswana's Amantle Montsho, who finished fourth in the women's 400m final on Tuesday, has been provisionally suspended after failing a drugs test.

Her A sample was found to contain a banned substance and a further test of the B sample will take place in London on Monday.

Montsho, 30, is also remembered in the UK as the athlete was memorably pipped by Christine Ohuruogu to World Championship gold in Moscow last year.

Devandro Laishram flings everything at Paddy Barnes in the last round and that is enough to convince two of the judges to award him the marks for that battle.

But it is not enough to win the war.

Barnes has done enough previous groundwork to stay ahead on all three cards and regain gold.

  11. Boxingpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 2 August 2014

Paddy Barnes is putting in lots of good work to the body of Devendro Laishram and it is beginning to sap the Indian's energy and enthusiasm.

Barnes takes the second of three rounds on all three of the cards and is surely set fair for gold. Laishram will have to produce pyrotechnics in the final round to bring the fight to and early end and he looks like has run out of juice.

More from Commonwealth women's flyweight champion Nicola Adams, who has been speaking to BBC Sport: "Women's boxing has definitely excelled since 2012. The competition has improved, the girls are getting more talented all the time, and the number of participants has grown.

"Having this gold medal makes all the hard work worth it. I would love to be in Rio, I just want to inspire the next generation, I love boxing so much. I'm going to have a little rest and relax on holiday now then I'll be back in the gymn again."

There are unlikely to be any arguments in the Drinkhall household tonight after wife and husband pair Jo and Paul took gold to lead an England clean sweep in the mixed doubles. However, the happy couple might have to delay their time to reflect on Glasgow 2014.

"We're moving into our new flat on Monday - we've waited two years for this," said Paul, who married Jo (nee Parker) in 2013.

"With regards to the moving, I do all the work outside the sport," joked Jo.

"Jo makes things up to do when there is nothing to do, just to keep the mind focused which is good because all the jobs get done and I put my feet up and watch the TV," added Paul.

All three of the judges gave the opening round to Paddy Barnes but it must have been close because Devandro Laishram returned plenty of fire, with one particularly eye-catching combination in the middle of the round.

England already have one pair in Sunday's men's doubles final in the shape of Nick Matthew and Adrian Grant. But compatriots Daryl Selby and James Willstrop can't set up an all-red-and-white affair.

Selby and Willstrop are swatted aside 11-4 11-4 by semi-final opponents David Palmer and Cameron Pilley of Australia at the Scotstoun Sports Campus. And that means the gold medal match goes by the formbook - second seeds Palmer and Pilley will meet the top dogs of Matthew and Grant.

    Amir Khan
Former world boxing champion and BBC Sport expert

"This is going to be a great fight between two fighters who are going to keep on coming forward. This is the moment for Paddy Barnes. I am sure he would love to turn pro one day with a Commonwealth gold medal.

"Devendro Laishram is a strong and solid fighter, he is very aggressive but I am sure Paddy knows what to do, he will be smart in there."

Paddy Barnes backed team-mate Michaela Walsh to beat Nicola Adams in her final. I'm sure he will be asked his opinion of the result once his own final is done.

Now though he has his own business to deal with. India's Devendro Laishram is ranked third in world at light flyweight.

All four of the women's flyweight medallists pose with their neckwear in shady corner of the SECC, before Michaela Walsh and the two bronze medallists are ushered away to leave Nicola Adams alone in the glare of the snappers' flashbulbs.

Adams confirms to the television cameras that at the age of 31 she has enough left in the tank to go on to Rio 2016.
