"England's Rebecca Gallantree - who won synchro gold with Alicia Blagg earlier this week - is 29, some five years older than the next oldest competitor and 14 years more senior than the youngest diver in this 3m final.

"She almost retired after London 2012 when British Swimming axed her funding, but she won an appeal and hasn't looked back since. There'll be no medal today in what is likely to be her final Commonwealth appearance, but on-course for Rio."

"It's the consistency which is costing England's Alicia Blagg at the moment. She's put down some great routines and there is a lot of support for her but twice now she's dropped big points and the teenager will need a big finish to challenge for a medal."
