London 2012 medallist and BBC Sport gymnastics expert

"Max Whitlock really did set the benchmark. If I've done my maths right he did 16 twists in his routine. He is like a spinning top and the crowd just love it. He is such a good twister and his whole routine is based around that."

Michael Conlan will take on Sean McGoldrick in the 56kg semi-finals after the Welshman wins his bout against Ayabonga Sonjica of South Africa, but plenty of head scratching over how McGoldrick progressed.

It had seemed the first two rounds had been awarded to Sonjica, but McGoldrick claimed the third and was then announced the winner of the fight. Confusing scenes, but McGoldrick won't care. He is through and is guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

"Have Jamaica's netball women ever had so much media attention?

"Usain Bolt is long gone but 25 minutes after losing 50-42 to New Zealand, members of Jamaica's team are in demand as they are asked questions about Bolt's appearance.

"Kasey Evering tells me she is loving her time in Glasgow and that Bolt's appearance in the crowd lifted the team, despite the result.

"'It's always good to see Usain in the crowd. I didn't hear that he was not enjoying Glasgow. I think it's an awesome place and the atmosphere is really great'."

Is Usain Bolt happy at Glasgow 2014? The Times newspaper claim he said he isn't and stand by their story. Bolt has hit back and was all smiles at the netball, responding with "awesome" when asked by reporters what he thought of the Games.

Here is what Jamaica's press attaché, Laurel Smith, told BBC Sport: "Usain is just frustrated that he can't roam about, but it was like that at London 2012. He basically goes to training and comes back.

"You can only play so many video games in your room. He's a free spirit, but it requires security organisation when he wants to roam.

"He even gets a bagman [an assistant] to get his food from the canteen because it would create too much of a stir if he was there. But one thing is for sure, he is enjoying himself in Glasgow."

Wales discus thrower Brett Morse:, external "The hard part done, into the final tomorrow. Cannot wait to get the crowd going and smash it. Thanks everyone for the support."

England cyclist Alex Dowsett:, external "Course recce done and dusted, basically a bunch ride on time trial bikes. Roll on raceday!"

Dowsett, a silver medallist at the Delhi Games of 2010, rides in Friday's time trial before also competing in Sunday's road race.

Max Whitlock of England justifies his status as pre-event favourite as he clocks up 15.466 with a floor routine that could have been even better without a final half-stumble forward on landing.

That score is good enough to take him above Daniel Purvis as the best floor score so far.

Table tennis is blink-and-you-miss it quick. Stick another ping-ponger at each end of the table and you might think that you are guaranteed a few bumps and bruises as the pairs collide in their haste to get in and out of the way again.

Apparently not. The players shuffle by each other like they are on rails.

Wales' Conor Edwards and Daniel O'Connell are about to get under way against Choy Freddy and Katirakei Tetabo of Kiribati.

BBC Sport gymnastics expert and two-time CWG champion

"The gymnastics is going to be absolutely fantastic. We are expecting the home nations to win all three medals in the men's individual. I think Max Whitlock is miles in front but then if I were to predict I would have Daniel Keatings in second, Dan Purvis in third.

"I think the experience will prove too much to the young challengers today."

Scotland's Daniel Purvis is the first Scottish man in action in the individual all-around final. He and fellow Scots Daniel Keatings and Frank Baines, along with English favourite and European junior champion Nile Wilson, all start on the floor.

Purvis has chalked up 15.300 and looks happy with that.

Scotland have a real medal contender in second seed Kirsty Gilmour, and the 20-year-old from Glasgow has taken an early 21-14 lead against Australian Verdet Kessler in her opening singles match.

Gilmour withdrew from the Great Britain badminton programme in the build-up to the Commonwealth Games so she could stay in Glasgow. "Here there's just a short commute every day and there's all the facilities I could possibly have," she explained.

    Leon Taylor
BBC Sport diving expert & CWG silver medallist

"I said it was going to be close and I wasn't wrong. Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch went for it right from the word go and kept cool and calm despite horrendous delays, but the Canadian pair won it with a final dive that was right on the money.

"It is an amazing achievement, they will be elated and a little frustrated at the same time. A Commonwealth silver medal is amazing but they came so close to the gold."

"Now Usain Bolt is taking part in a Mexican Wave at the SECC, where he has turned up to support Jamaica's netball team against New Zealand.

"More photographs, more autographs. If he really is not enjoying his time in Glasgow, then he is doing a fine job at disguising it.

"A huge cheer goes up as his face appears on the big screen. One elderly lady approaches him and whispers something in his ear before patting him on the shoulder. Bolt responds with a beaming smile."

"Sarah Barrow and Tonia Crouch will be delighted with silver. They have missed out on medals at major championships before - they did not get one at Delhi - so if you told them when they came here they would get silver they would have been very happy.

"However, when they were leading going into the final round there is always going to be that element of thinking 'oh so close'."

Bolt's manager Ricky Simms told the BBC the newspaper reports were "utter rubbish", while Bolt himself tweeted:, external "I'm waking up to this nonsense... journalist please don't create lies to make headlines."

Vickie Moore:, external "Even with a smaller budget than London 2012 I'm sure all who have actually experienced the buzz in Glasgow will agree what a fabulous and well organised event this has been."

Lesney Fulcher:, external "I believe Usain Bolt not the press. You cannot compare the Olympics with the Commonwealth Games, it would be unfair on both. I think Scotland have put on a magnificent show which appears to be well organised, well supported and enjoyed by all. They can't control the weather. Congratulations Scotland and well done to all of the competitors."
