Alistair Brownlee is handed a nine-second lead by Jodie Stimpson. The Englishman is so eager to get going on the anchor leg though that he may well have strayed out of the changeover box.
It will be interesting to see if he is pinged with a time penalty.
With four chasers hot on on his tail, Brownlee will have to decide whether to try and stay clear of them on the bike and risk them working together to save energy and close the gap.
Thirteen seconds is Brownlee's lead in the saddle.
This is looking a lot more of puzzle than you might expect given the credentials of England's individuals.
I keep expecting to see England disappear over the horizon in the team relay, but it has not happened yet.
Jodie Stimpson has been well tracked by New Zealand's Nicky Samuels and leads by less than 20 seconds going into her final lap on the run.
Alistair Brownlee sends her on her way with a bellow. He is on the last leg for England.
Billy Ocean junior might want to get out of Ibrox, into his car and back to the sunny Caribbean.
Canada have walloped his Barbados side 68-5. Canada themselves lost 39-0 to New Zealand in the day's first match.
Going on those form lines we are looking at 100+ winning margin when New Zealand play Barbados later today. Each match is only 14 minutes long remember.
Carnage o'clock is 20:20 BST.

"It's Canada versus Barbados at Ibrox now, and guess who's on the bench for the latter? That's right, the son of the legendary British soul singer Billy Ocean. Sin bin for Barbados - although I'm reliably informed that when the going gets tough, Ocean Jr gets going."
At the halfway point of the mixed team relay, England are leading by 16 seconds after good performances from Vicky Holland and Jonathan Brownlee.
Next up over the 250m swim, 6km cycle and 1600m run course is women's gold medallist Jodie Stimpson and then men's champion Alistair Brownlee.
As long as hamstrings and bike chains stay intact, it is surely their gold.

"England's Jonathan Brownlee is giving it 100% out in front and that is exactly what he has to do, you cannot leave anything behind. Jodie Stimpson will have a great chance when he hands over to her, she could start with a 20 second gap over the rest of the field."
England's first man in the triathlon relay, Jonathan Brownlee, parks his bike first, but his lead is only a second.
It looks like it might be heading north from here though. The younger of England's two brothers has put a kick in. He is nine seconds clear midway through the run.
Scotland's Grant Sheldon almost wheeled his bike into the water in his eagerness in transition. His team are just off the chasing pack.

"We've got our first proposal of the Games! A brave chap called James gets down on one knee in the centre circle during a break in the action, pops the old question and Lucy says 'NO!' Not really, she said 'yes', but from where I was sitting, about 200 yards away, she appeared to have serious misgivings about the direction her life had just taken..."

Lucy Dillon:, external "This triathlon relay is mildly panic-attack-inducing. Getting your shoes on! Parking the bike properly! Chafing! Argh!"
Celebritiesrus:, external "There's really no doubt about it, the triathletes are insane! I had to psyche myself up to walk to the kitchen just now!"
Beth O'Brien:, external "Best part of this relay triathlon so far - the awesome dives into the water on the change-over. Looks ridiculous craic."
Is the dive the fifth discipline?
Here come the hand slaps.
Canada's Kirsten Sweetland hands over to team-mate Matthew Sharpe with a lead of just five seconds over Northern Ireland, New Zealand and England.
As the first set of men emerge from the water, individual silver medallist Jonathan Brownlee has closed down the gap to less than half that for England.

"Sometimes sport delivers great scripts. Frankie Jones retires after an incredible career, with a gold on her last ever routine and Wales' first of the Games."
The Malaysian bench leap skywards in delight, their English counterpart crumble in their seats, utterly deflated as 15-year-old Tin-Tin Ho loses the fifth and deciding game of the fifth and deciding match in their team quarter final.
Ho is in tears, only just keeping it together for the post match handshake before dissolving into floods.
England's Mick Gault has taken bronze to win a record-equalling 18th Commonwealth Games medal. The 60-year-old from Norfolk retired through illness after Delhi 2010 but came back to try and match the mark set by Australian shooter Phillip Adams.
Gault finished behind Australian Daniel Repacholi and India's Prakash Nanjappa, with Englishman Stewart Nangle in fifth place.
There is stratospheric drama over in the table tennis.
The deciding match of the women's team quarter final between England and Malaysia has come down to a fifth and deciding game.
Malaysia lead 9-8. Get over there sharpish!

George Killough:, external "Did some very stupid 'sports'. Tea-tray toboggan, caterpillar crash, corridor squash-cricket and big bin bowling. Good times."
Triathlon bods refer to transition as the "fourth discipline". It is England's Vicky Holland who gets to show off her swift shoe velcroing and helmet clipping.
Canada's Kirsten Sweetland, the woman who pushed Holland into third in the individual event behind winner Jodie Stimpson, attacks on the first part of the bike leg though.
It is Sweetland and Holland 20 seconds clear of the rest.

"To Ibrox, where Wales have just demolished Malaysia, 52-0. Defending champions New Zealand have never lost a match in Commonwealth Games sevens, a run stretching back to 1998. They thrashed Canada in their opener, 39-0. Packed to the rafters, by the way."
