"It's always interesting to see how swimmers respond when returning for a second race after success in the first - well, impressively if you're Scotland's Hannah Miley or England's Chris Walker-Hebborn.

"Miley, who won 400m individual medley gold on Thursday, sets an impressive lifetime best of two minutes 28:22 to reach tonight's 200m breastroke final. Walker-Hebborn is the fastest qualifier for the 50m backstroke final in 25.12 - a great morning of action."

'Braveheart Wallace' is the headline in the Evening Times

Remember 'Super Saturday' at London 2012? Well, Glasgow 2014 organisers are forecasting a 'Super Weekend' as the city prepares to welcome hundreds of thousands of sports fans.

According to Saturday's Herald newspaper, almost 250,000 tickets have been sold for events being held over the next two days - and tens of thousands more are expected to flood the streets for Sunday's marathon.

There is one face dominating the pages of Scotland's newspapers - gold medal winning 400m individual medley swimmer Daniel Wallace. 'Braveheart Wallace' is the headline in the Evening Times after the Scot revealed he had watched the Mel Gibson film 'Braveheart' to psyche himself up.

Good news for Britain's golden couple of Judo. Bad news for the Seychelles.

Euan Burton of Scotland has disposed of Dominic Dugasse of the Seychelles in the quarter-finals of the men's 100kg category.

His wife and London 2012 silver medallist Gemma Gibbons has beaten Dugasse's compatriot Brigitte Rose to also make the last four.

She will battle Cameroon's Hortense Mballa Atangana for a place in the 78kg final.

Marvellous scenes as the Ibrox crowd roar on Sandun Herath as he pins his ears back and streaks into the corner. He punches the ball away with a wide grin after touching down. Well done sir.

Sri Lanka are game, but every one of their players is giving way several inches and even more kilograms to their Australian opposite number.

It is little more than a training run for the Australians who are 50-0 up with more than four minutes still to play.

"That smile of a lethal goalshooter. Joanne Harten missed at one end, while opposite number Caitlin Bassett then scored what proved to be the winner in the dying seconds. It was an epic contest - just one point separating the fierce rivals. Australia get small revenge for being trumped in the series last year. Will we see them again battling it out for a medal? Probably."

Suffocating drama, but the match comes to an end as England sling the ball long and out in search of a late equalising goal.

Australia win 49-48 and England shooter Joanne Harten is in tears at the end.

Still plenty of netball to play but her side are on collision course with New Zealand in the last four as it stands.

"England's centre Serena Guthrie might have to apply the heat patches after this match and consider having a word with Australia's 6ft 2in wing defence Sharni Layton, who has left her twice on the deck. There were no eyeballs between the pair, although Layton didn't check to see if her opponent was OK. The contest remains as tight as a judo grip. The strong England support are frenzied. Not long remaining."

"Well the crowd are certainly awake now after a surprise swim from Scotland's Cameron Brodie, who with a time of one minutes 57.28 seconds finished ahead of Olympic champion Chad Le Clos.

"The South African clearly has more in the tank but his constant glancing at other lanes is school-boy stuff - and it could really come back to haunt him if he doesn't ditch the habit."

It is getting feisty out there.

England centre Serena Guthrie is dumped to the floor twice in quick succession by Austrlia's Sharni Layton.

Only the most token inquiry as to Guthrie's well-being from Layton, who gets a slap on the backside from her team-mate which looks a lot like congratulations.

Australia have edged ahead for the first time in a long time. They are 43-42 up with eight minutes to go. I strongly recommend tuning in via the live coverage tab at the top of this page.
