Boxing pundit Steve Bunce expresses his concern at the number of head and face cuts in the boxing as Northern Ireland's Michael Conlan gets past Sean McGoldrick of Wales to reach the final of the men's bantam (56kg) category despite a nasty wound to his forehead.

Bunce reckons the fight would have been stopped in the professional game.

"There is a chance headguards could come back and it's to stop these nasty cuts," he told BBC 5Live.

Australian Andrew Moloney is the man that progresses to the final at his expense.

Elsewhere Northern Ireland's Michael Conlan has beaten Wales' Sean McGoldrick to make the bantamweight final. He will fight England's Qais Ashfaq for gold who beat Benson Gicharu Njangiru of Kenya and is rewarded with a hug from former Olympic silver medalist Amir Khan.

Scotland have got a firm chokehold on this final. England led 5-4 after four ends, but since then the Tartan Army have been on an unstoppable march and now the hosts lead 14-5.

England just can't get close to the jack and the frustration is clear to see on skip Jamie Chestney's face as he sends an attempted drive sailing past its intended target. Just four ends to go and this one looks to be nearing its conclusion.

Healthy portions of suntan lotion are being applied in the crowd as New Zealand's women go through their pre-match routine while AC/DC's 'Back In Black' thunders out of the speakers.

"The atmosphere is building, St George's flags are everywhere and England's moment is almost here. Can they deliver and book a place in Saturday's final against Australia?" You can watch the match here.

After Australia "did a Germany" in the first semi-final, walloping South Africa 7-1, England are about to cross sticks with defending champions New Zealand in the second.

The Kiwi women have won all four matches so far, conceding just one goal. They only beat South Africa 2-1, however, which puts the magnitude of that Aussie win in context.

There's a little girl called Eva at the gymnastics and it's her birthday so the crowd have just finished singing 'Happy Birthday' to her. She's a little shy, although having thousands of people sing for you can be overwhelming for anyone, I guess. Coming to the Hydro was her birthday present and it's apparently the best present ever.

So how did England's 15-year-old table tennis star get the name Tin-Tin (see 13:52)? The answer lies with her father Charles, who is slightly obsessed by the sport. Just a bit.

"I took the initials TT, for table tennis," says Charles.

Tin-Tin also has a brother called Ping, and she was almost named Pong. Anyway, she is making a name for herself in Glasgow. Her and Liam Pitchford have taken a shock 2-0 lead in the mixed doubles semi-finals against Singapore pair Jian Zhan and Tianwei Feng.

The English duo won the first game 12-10 and the second 11-8. One more game and they will be guaranteed at least a silver medal.

It's a tight contest for gold out on the lawns of Kelvingrove but at the moment it's Scotland's Alex Marshall who is proving the difference between the two sides. Another inspired shot from Scotland's skip puts the jack under lock and key and it's all England can do to keep the Scots to two. 9-5 after 8 ends.

Plenty of time for England to hit back though. Let's not forget their women's pair were 7-1 down to South Africa this morning and they ended up taking that one all the way to an extra end.
