England have lost their way a bit as this game draws to a close.

There's two ends to play and Australia look to have taken an unassailable 11-20 lead, putting a real marker down for the knock-out stage and chances of a medal.

The Australians have scored 3-13 in the last eight ends.

They are still in a bit of shock but Katherine Torrance and Alicia Blagg are delighted with their surprise Commonwealth silver medals from the synchronised 3m event.

“It’s crazy what we’ve done out there today,” Blagg tells me. “We’ve had so little time training together and I live out in Miami and have had two hand surgeries over the last few years."

Torrance adds; “I can hardly believe it as we knew other pairs were making mistakes but we saw it and just though ‘we’ll do our thing’ and that saw us through.”

They both laugh when asked about the rivalry with the swimmers but insist it is there and that they’re “proud” to have put the divers on the medal table at the first opportunity.

It's a huge ask for England to catch up now, as Australia steal another one in the 15th end to make it 11-18.

A bold final shot from Chestney in a bid to snatch the advantage was just off target and the Aussies came away with the score.

Three ends to play in this one.

“She will come to you. Just keep jabbing Paige. She will come to you.”

Lots of shouting from the stands here as England’s Paige Murney takes on Northern Ireland’s Alanna Nihell.

“You’d don’t need to chase it,” comes the shout. “Sit back, sit back.”

Round two ends. A nice three-shot combo from Murney.

'An example to everyone'published at 04:26 British Summer Time 11 April 2018

    Women's 60kg

A bit of Chelsea Dagger to welcome England's Paige Murney. She is making her Commonwealth Games debut just five years after she took up the sport of boxing - and she says her biggest supporter is her mother.

“My mum has never missed a bout and does a lot to help me put more of my time into boxing,” she said. She also found time to praise her coach at Leicester’s Unity Boxing Club, Ajmal Butt, and he returned the compliment, calling her “an example to everyone else in the gym”.

Murney usually competes at 64kg, but has trimmed down to compete at lightweight due to the weight divisions at the Commonwealth. She also teaches a women’s boxing class and once gave Labour MP Liz Kendall a boxing lesson. Her fighting idols are Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali.

Wales are closing in on a brilliant Games. The nation has 22 medals, 14 shy of its number in 2014.

But they already have more gold medals and there’s time to spare yet.

At the boxing a little later today, Rosie Eccles will try to move in from the bronze she is already guaranteed when she faces the roars of a home crowd in her 69kg semi final against Australia’s Kaye Scott.

Eccles knows how to deliver the goods. Her most recent job is as a cycling courier delivering fast food to customers.

Big smiles after a big performance from England’s Alicia Blagg and Katherine Torrance.

It was a final full of high drama, shocks and ultimately a surprise success for the English pair who have only had around three weeks of training together!

Medal favourites Maddison Keeney and Annabelle Smith of Australia as well as the Canadian duo Jennifer Abel and Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu both dropped utter clangers to throw away their strong medal positions.

“Even I dropped one of my dives,” Blagg tells me, “but we fought back and Kat was amazing in her first Commonwealth Games!”

I’ve decided I’ll count and photograph as many Borobi mascots as I can today.

Here we have Borobi near a lot of posh sponsorship tents, hence his tuxedo.

On the lifeguard hut he’s in his lifeguard get up.

I’m a fan of the approrpriate attire. I wonder if I head to a night spot, will there be a well-oiled Borobi.

Perhaps the big man would be clutching a kebab or sprawled out on the deck.
