They've done an ok job but I don't know if it's going to be enough to hold on for a medal.

Will Team England start off with a medal in the diving?

    England are first up...

Eeeeek. It's messy again, only 60.30. They set the mark at 276.90.

If three pairs don't go past that then Bragg and Torrance will get a medal.

Somehow that Canadian dive has been scored at 33. The Malaysians then move up into silver with the last dive of the round.

Into the final round we go.

England are in third on 216.60.

Australia first on 224.31. Malaysia second on 222.60

The second Aussie pair are fourth on 213.00.

After that poor dive the English pair are in second but are given a lifeline as the Canadians make a huge error. Jennifer Abel's feet almost go in the water before her fingers.

There's a long wait while the judges decide whether the dive should count or whether it should be a failed dive - i.e. not the dive they have said they are trying to complete.

Either way the Canadians look absolutely gutted. They are out of contention.

This is English diver Alicia Blagg’s first major event since Rio 2016.

She won Commonwealth gold alongside now retired diver Rebecca Gallantree at Glasgow 2014 and their stunned faces became one of the most iconic pictures of the Games.

After the pair finished sixth at the Olympics Blagg moved to Florida to study but she made the briefest of cameos back in the UK earlier in the year to compete alongside Katherine Torrance and secure their place at Gold Coast 2018.

Her immediate future lies out in the USA and Torrance’s regular partner - Scotland’s Grace Reid - will be expected to rejoin Torrance later in the season, but a strong result here could create an interesting challenge for selectors.

The English pair are still holding onto second but only 0.30 ahead of Malaysia in bronze.

Aussie favourites Keeney and Smith are only two points behind in fourth too. Nervy times. Fourth dive coming up.

It’s a capacity crowd of around 2,500 people here for the first diving final of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games but they’re having to be more than a little patient this morning as the venue is experiencing “technical difficulties.”

The judges score pads were working ok for the men’s preliminaries earlier but now they have had to revert to old school score boards!

Not the best of starts for the organisers at the beginning of this women’s synchronised 3m springboard final.

It's a tremendous effort. Both divers executing their dive very well indeed but sadly the synchro is ever so slightly off.

There was a minibus-sized gap between them there.
