Aussie music fathers? Obviously you guys are kids. The Seekers are the Godfathers for five decades, and "I am Australian" the song, even more of an anthem than Advance Australia Fair. Youtube it at Australian rugby league grand final 1994 in front of 80,000

Never a great sign as an actor when they have to put your character’s name in brackets after yours.

Still there is a queue to catch a moment with Home and Away’s Sophie Dillman at the Channel Seven stall.

Who knows, maybe she will follow the path of Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance and, er, Craig McLaughlan from Aussie soap to the Hollywood A list and I will only able to say I saw the tent she was in rather than Dillman herself.

The second section of the rhythmic gymnastics team finals is now under way, with the gymnasts currently performing their first rotation, which involves what can only be described as a shiny hula hoop.

Gymnasts will record scores for the hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon rotations. Then the final team score is the sum of the 10 best scores by the three gymnasts. England and Wales are involved.

Meanwhile, as well as the team event, the top 16 individual gymnasts will qualify for the all-around final, while the best eight gymnasts per apparatus will qualify for the respective hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon individual finals.

    Uganda 37-30 Scotland

There's no sign of Scotland getting back into this one, with Games debutants Uganda pulling further ahead in the third quarter.

Uganda need to win this one by a big score to have a chance of reaching the semis.

Look, the quality of You're the Voice is not in doubt, but is it that good?

So good that every Australia belts it out when they hear it? So good that the PM can take flak for not knowing the words?

Is there a British equivalent? Hey Jude? Wonderwall?

You're the Voice isn't in that league, is it?

Ian Hale: To be fair, I'm with the Aussies on this one - You're The Voice is a belting tune. It never made it big here in the US though, according to my power-ballad loving American wife who now loves it almost as much as I do once I started inflicting it on her.

Anything else would have been something of an upset.

Australia sweep aside England in straight sets to reach the final of the men's beach volleyball.

They will play either New Zealand or Canada, who are on court next.

    Netball: Uganda 26-21 Scotland

The crowd in the netball arena are massively behind the underdogs Uganda.

Uganda, in their first Games, hold a five-point lead at the halfway stage.

Can Scotland bring it back and reach the semi-final? And as they are trailing, does that make Scotland the underdogs and will the crowd switch allegiances?

I'm not having it that John Farnham is the father of Australian music.

What about Nick Cave, or AC/DC? INXS? Men at Work?

    The plot thickens.

According to our Aussie broadcast friends ABC, there was something of a furore when none other than Australia Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull didn't know the lyrics to You're The Voice during the very same singalong at the swimming.

Now then, I need this one explaining to me.

Why, apart from the fact that John Farnham is an Aussie, is You're The Voice such an anthem down under?

Before each Ashes Test over the winter, they had a singer belt out England's rouser Jerusalem, before You're The Voice was used as the response.

Very odd. Then James Vince nicked off and all was right with the world.

I thought that the lifeguard's hut poking over the top of the stand at the beach volleyball was slightly unnecessary - there's no water in the little arena, after all.

It turns out that it's housing the DJs, who are doing the sort of dancing that even your dad would be ashamed of.

    Men's semi-final: Australia 1-0 England

Let's be honest here. Beach volleyball is brilliant. Part sport, part being on the beach in the sunshine.

Funnily enough, Australia are half-decent at it. As the sun just begins to dip down, they have taken the first set against England in this men's semi and halfway to the final.
