    Johnson-Thompson leads heptathlon

Olympic heptathlon gold medallist on BBC TV

I think KJT looked a little lacklustre yesterday, just not in the groove, not feeling it. Maybe that anticipation of being so far ahead, not having much competition, has left her without that fire in her belly.

It's about getting through these next events unscathed, getting that medal which we all predicted she would and not beating herself up about the score.

    Men's 10m synchro final

Ooooh, Scotland's James Heatly and Lucas Thomson have a chance to overtake the Aussies above them... but they don't complete a more routine forward 3½ somersaults dive to the highest standard required.

England's Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow make their play for the title with a big 90.72 dive, then team-mates Matthew Dixon and Noah Williams score 65.70.

Daley and Goodfellow's quality shines through when it matters. They have a whopping lead now with their hardest dive to come in the final round.

"Three-two-one... GO!" James Heatly counts the Scottish pair in to their fourth dive - an inward 3½ somersaults - and they nail another decent dive.

Heatly and Lucas Thomson score 71.04 to gain ground on those above them.

England's Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow hit back with an effort that is closer to their best, scoring 78.72 to take the lead.

Matthew Dixon and Noah Williams can overtake them again though. They go for a tough dive... and they've nailed it! A score of 82.17 puts them top.

    Men's 10m synchro final

James Heatly and Lucas Thomson look slightly disappointed with a back dive in their second attempt. The judges agree, giving them a score of 48.00.

A pair or two down the line go Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow. "Too quick," chunters Daley as he climbs out of the pool. A score of 46.80 for the English pair.

Next up are Matthew Dixon and Noah Williams. Nice synchronization, if lacking a touch of technique. Their 46.20 tally leaves them fifth, a place behind Daley and Goodfellow.

Turns out Heatly and Thomson's effort was decent - they are third.

Dramatic lights in the boxing venue as we await bout one of the day.

As well as the 20 home nations fighters bidding for final places today there’ll be seven Australians. There are plenty with flags and sporting the green and gold here already.

Should be an unbelievable day in this makeshift TV studio.

“Come on Taylah,” some in the crowd shout as we await Taylah Robertson, the Aussie facing England’s Lisa Whiteside.

Here's a face that even your nan will recognise. It's Tom Daley! After being forced to pull out of the individual event, he links up again with Dan Goodfellow in the 10m synchro final.

They are the favourites to win gold here, although England team-mates Matthew Dixon and Noah Williams, along with Scottish pair James Heatly and Lucas Thomson, will be hoping to have something to say about that.

Daley and Goodfellow start with a comfortable inward 1½ somersault, scoring 51.00 to go second in the early placings.

The pairings of Dixon/Williams and Heatly/Thomson both score 50.40 with their opening dives.

After a slow first 1300m it's a mad rush for the line with six runners at the front battling for the four automatic places.

Jake Wightman is the best placed of the British athletes with a lap to go. He is in second. Charlie Grice is just behind in third. This is a slow race so that's good news for Scot Chris O'Hare as he sits and hopes for a fastest loser spot through to the final...

Bad times for England's Jenny Duncalf and Alison Waters, who have missed out on a place in the women's doubles semi-finals. Duncalf and Waters - silver medallists at Glasgow 2014 - lost 2-0 to New Zealand's reigning world champions Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy.

Despite that disappointment, medals hopes are not all lost for the home nations.

Wales pair Tesni Evans and Deon Saffery are aiming to cause a shock against Australia's world bronze medallists Rachael Grinham and Donna Urquhart in the next match at OXenford Studios.

    Boxing semi-finals

    Luke Reddy
BBC Sport on the Gold Coast

Some quick maths tells me we have 20 home nations athletes trying to reach the Commonwealth Games boxing finals today.

We already know Northern Ireland’s Kristina O’Hara, Wales’ Rosie Eccles and England’s Sandy Ryan will have finals tomorrow.

The 20 looking to join them know they are guaranteed a bronze at least but many of them will see that as a disappointment right now.

Hopes are high for a golden Saturday.

The semi-finals start at 03:02 BST when England’s Lisa Whiteside has to face an Aussie in her own back yard. That will not be easy.
