    Kane Charig

The big UK match-up in the men's 65kg has come to an emphatic end with Wales' Kane Charig going 10-0 up on England's Charlie Bowling - the British Open champion.

As soon as a ten-point gap opens up on the scoreboard, the bout is stopped on the ground of 'technical superiority', a polite way of saying someone is being ground to dust.

F.Y to your I, do not attempt to engage Charig in some jokey banter comparing him to his WWE namesake, Kane.

The British number one says that it is an "insult" to even call that staged steel-chair-and-showbiz stuff wrestling.

And, judging by the way he has dealt with Bowling, you don't want to make him feel insulted.

    Into the semi-finals.

Family bragging rights on the Gold Coast have so far been going the way of Scotland’s Seaonaid McIntosh over her more decorated older sister Jennifer in the shooting.

Seaonaid has reached two finals out of two, compared to one for Jennifer, and earned bronze in Thursday’s 50m rifle prone event.

Can the elder sister level the medal tally up for these Games in the women’s 50m rifle three positions final which is starting now? She won two golds back in 2010 in Delhi. Their mum has also won multiple Commonwealth shooting medals in the past.

Other home nations athletes in this event include England's Katie Gleeson, Wales' Sian Corish and Rachel Glover and Gemma Kermode of the Isle of Man.

    The Prestigious One

    It's time.

Scotland's Joe Hendry is the British champion in the men's 97kg class, but he is a whole lot more besides.

He also is a pro wrestler in WWE-style UK promotions, going by the name 'The Prestigious One'.

The 29-year-old is also a nephew to SNP MP Drew Hendry.

Hendry, in red, is taking on Nicolaas Verreynne of Australia...

...and the home-crowd favourite does the bizzo, pinning Hendry for an automatic win.

    A gut-punch of a defeat for Hendry.

That silver medal for Laura Halford a few moments ago was a historic one for Wales.

It takes them to seven golds, nine silver and 10 bronze medals and means they have now achieved their highest medal tally at an overseas Games, beating the tally of 35 in Auckland in 1990.

There's plenty more opportunity to come too. Not least in the rhythmic gymnastics over the next few hours.

So Laura Halford's silver in the hoop final gives Wales its first rhythmic gymnastics medal of the 2018 Games.

A reminder of how incredible the team's eight medals back in 2014 were.

Frankie Jones won six of them and is here watching her former teammate Halford - who also still has the ribbon final to come.

Oh no! Halford has been pushed out of the medals with the last gymnast of the final - Sie Yan Koi's - performance is enough to take silver.

Scotland are moments away from a bronze medal in the women's pairs. Claire Johnston and Lesley Doig have a five point lead going into the final end.

They only have six woods left. Basically, Canada haven't got a chance of overturning this deficit.

Relief all around at the Aquatics Centre - well at least for England, perhaps not his opponents - as Tom Daley appears for training ahead of the synchronised 10m platform final later.

The 23-year-old was left "devastated" earlier this week after a hip injury and 'other ongoing medical problems' saw him pull out of the individual competition.

He will line up alongside fellow Olympic bronze medallist Dan Goodfellow in the event which begins at 02:47 BST, but how will they perform with so little training time together?

They’ve had difficulties in the past with injuries hampering preparations, however there are only six pairs in the final and even 80% of their best should be enough for a medal if not gold.

After winning the heptathlon long jump competition, Katarina Johnson-Thompson has extended her lead over Canada's Nina Schultz from 126 points to 225. She doesn't have the best javelin throw in the field but something will have to go very, very, very wrong for the Brit not to be leading after that.

There are two events left. The javelin at 03:25 BST and 800m at 11:05.
