Grace Reid practically floated across poolside after collecting Scotland’s first Commonwealth diving gold medal for 60 years.

“Scottish diving is in an amazing place right now,” Reid tells me.

“We’ve come so far as a nation because at my first Games at Delhi 2010 there we’re just three of us competing and now we’re up there winning two medals.

Her success takes Scotland’s aquatics medal haul (including swimming) to 11 here at Gold Coast 2018, which is one more than they achieved at their home Games (Glasgow 2014) four years ago - and Reid goes again in the 3m event on Saturday.

Is that a sport that does video reviews worse than football?

Certainly the system is pretty slick at the hockey.

Each team as one referral per match which, like in tennis, they choose when to call for.

India cashed in their chip during the third quarter. Instantly the referee's mic was turned up and his conversation with his colleague in the stands rings out over the PA.

Melodramatic organ music in the background, the video scrubbing back and forth on two big screens, even the emergency services are intrigued.

India's appeal against the initial decision is turned down, they lose their referral and we go on. Minimal fuss, middling entertainment.

    Women's rugby sevens

Disappointment for England's team in the women's rugby sevens as they have been beaten 29-12 by Australia in their pool B match.

Tries from Abigail Brown and Deborah Fleming gave England a 12-5 lead after seven minutes, but Australia fought back in the second half for their second win in two matches today.

For England, it is one win, one loss after earlier beating Fiji 17-5. Wales lost for the second time, with a 29-7 loss against Fiji. England can still reach the semi-finals but must beat Wales tomorrow (09:59 BST).

New Zealand look the team to beat in this competition. They thrashed Kenya 45-0 earlier on today and racked up another seven tries with a 41-0 destruction of South Africa.

She's going to face mental challenges going forward. She has the Europeans coming this summer where she will face tougher competitions. She has to use this experience to prove she can run with the big girls.

This is something she has learned about herself. I'm looking forward to seeing her progress and I think her mental state is getting better but it has to be tested.
