They don't look like tears of joy. They look like tears of pain. She's come through a tough two days and I hope she hasn't hurt herself too much. She's got the gold. Job done.

    Heptathlon

As Katarina Johnson-Thompson comes over the line she immidately falls to the floor in tears.

Tears of joy? No. Tears of pain by the looks of it. She seems to have injured herself.

Eventually she pulls herself off the track and starts to smile as she realises she's bagged the Commonwealth title.

  3. Emerson 'ran her heart out'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Denise Lewis

She ran her heart out. She was determined to get that bronze medal and what a way for her to announce herself on the world stage.

Bronze Medal - Niamh Emerson (England)published at 11:21 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Heptathlon

Niamh Emerson needed to put eight seconds between her and Celeste Mucci of Australia and she's only gone and done it! Emerson finishes in 2:12.18, while Mucci is fifth in 2:29.73.

What an incredible achievement for the 18-year-old from Derby.

Liverpool's Katarina Johnson-Thompson finishes fourth in the heptathlon 800m but it's enough to take overall gold!

England team-mate Niamh Emerson finishes in style to win the 800m by a country mile. Is it enough for bronze?

There's a hint of a smile, we haven't seen too much of that from Kat over the past couple of days. She will be delighted to put this to bed.

That's it! England have beaten Canada and secured their place in Saturday's final.

Guard Rachael Vanderwal has been key to this impressive victory with her sharp shooting.

England will face Australia or New Zealand - they're on court next - with the hosts big favourites to win the title.

Women's basketball has only featured once in the Commonwealth Games - in Melbourne 2006 when the Aussies won and England took bronze.

Can England cause an upset and snatch gold?

In the 800m not much can go wrong. Gold beckons for Johnson-Thompson. Niamh Emerson has a real chance of getting a medal - she's a pretty good 800m runner.

  10. 'Johnson-Thompson can dominate heptathlon'published at 11:12 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Jessica Ennis-Hill
London 2012 Olympic heptathlon champion on BBC TV

Kat was kind of thrusted into a home Olympics at London so hopefully she's going to come away with a gold here and get herself into a different mindset now where she can dominate this event.

Kat is a strong 800m runner with a 2:07 but she doesn't need to do that today. She can run a 2:10 and hopefully Niamh Emerson can follow her for bronze.

Gold Medal - Grace Reid (Scotland)published at 11:10 British Summer Time 13 April 2018

    Women's 1m springboard

    Grace Reid's done it!

She becomes the first Scottish female diver to win a Commonwealth medal.

Reid finishes with a score of 275.30 ahead of Georgie Sheehan of Australia, who takes silver, and her compatriot Esther Qin, who recovered from a bad start to take bronze.

Katherine Torrance of England has to settle for a fifth-place finish.

    Diving

Katherine Torrance is gutted. She can't believe it.

The English diver was in a bronze medal position but she fails to keep her legs straight on her final dive and she only scores 35.10.

She's up into second but there are still four divers to go.

Johnson-Thompson's looking more confident today. A bit business-like but I still think she's a bit out of sorts.

She's done her thing and done what she needs to do and she's in touch of completing the job now.

I think Kat has come in a bit of a downbeat fashion, maybe it's underestimating the climate or the time zone? She hasn't performed as well as she could do but it's not all negative. She's got on with it and she's in touch within a gold medal. That's what it's about.

Canada raise their game at the start of the final quarter and at one point close the gap to 10.

They call a timeout - what cunning plan do they have for these final five minutes?

Or perhaps England have a surprise of their own?
