Now for a poem from Amerah Saleh.

More lyrical loveliness that boggles the mind with its impressive pace and inspires with its thought-provoking message.

Right, we've had an update on Scotland's Callum Hawkins.

The runner collapsed while leading the men's marathon in the early hours this morning, in distressing scenes that saw him trip over a kerb before hitting his head on a barrier.

We're pleased to report Hawkins is making a good recovery, and will stay in hospital overnight as a precaution.

This is like the family wedding where everyone has had a little too much and wants to get in on the act during the speeches - first your dad, then your grandfather, and before you know it all your uncles are up sharing anecdotes...

I've lost track of who was supposed to be speaking and who's just freestyling.

After a busy 11 days, BBC Sport's Steve Cram is enjoying the ceremony this evening and he expects it to be a lot of fun.

"This evening is all about youth and equality which have been central themes across the Games. We will also have a nod to Birmingham in 2022 where the next installment will come from. Australia have been great hosts and they love their sport."

This all feels very poignant in a way I'm not too sure why, perhaps that's what ballet does to you?

The Queensland Youth Ballet join the stage too, fluttering between the fairylights decorating the stage.

And the winner is... David Liti! The weightlifter from New Zealand takes it, he broke the Commonwealth record at +105kg to take gold and then pushed Lauititi Lui of Samoa, who had collapsed during the tournament, up on to the podium to take silver and share in the moment.

    A nice touch.
