Richard: Can this get any cheesier?

Anon: Good luck to everyone involved with the Commonwealth Games handover at Victoria Square in Birmingham today

OK, this is the Games' Yugambeh Farewell, with a few words from the group's future leaders.

Wow. Time to slow it down a notch, I think we're all out of breath after that surprise visit from the king of the track.

Hang on, who's that!? Only Usain Bolt... on the decks, giving it a big two-step and just generally loving life.

AND HE HAS THEM ON STAGE DANCING!

    Love it.

Anthony Callea returns, accompanied by a rather lairy tropical blue shirt, and this time he's singing You Should Be Dancing. It feels like a message aimed directly at all those still seated in the Carrara Stadium...

The London 2012 Olympics had Games Makers. The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games has, wait for it... Games Shapers!

"Throughout these Games a large group of people have put their hearts and souls into making them a magical experience for all of us," says Sebastian as he welcomes them to the stadium.

"They’ve helped define the Games - there’s a good reason we call them our ‘Games Shapers’.

"Thousands of ordinary people doing really extraordinary things - giving so much love and energy and commitment to bring the Games alive and to help bring us all together.”

One more for the road from Guy Sebastian.

Organisers describe him as one of Australia's "most enduring, successful and talented male artists". Singer, songwriter, producer and television judge; is there anything this man can't do?

Sebastian is another one to come from the Australian talent show scene, being crowned the first winner of Australian Idol back in 2003 - that's three years before Welsh table tennis starlet Anna Hursey was even born.

Time for Guy Sebastian, and I'm reliably informed the denim-shirted popstar is performing 'Like It Like That.

Catch your breath, we're rattling through the hits quicker than a re-run of Top of the Pops 2.

A change in beat, this is Yothu Yindi with a twist, performing their international hit Treaty.

The founding members of the band have joined with a cross-generational, cross-cultural group of musicians from Arnhem Land, Katherine and Melbourne to form Yothu Yindi and The Treaty Project.

It's all going down now The Blenders have joined the party. The barbershop-inspired acapella choir crack out 'One Summer'.

Cue more spontaneous toe-tapping from me, and plenty more slightly aggravated glances from my colleagues.

OK, must admit when I first read this I thought British boxer Anthony Crolla was performing at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony... on the Gold Coast... in Australia.

Glasses firmly in place and I can inform you it's actually Anthony Callea, a former Australian Idol contestant who boasts the fastest-selling single of all time by an home artist - namesake Crolla is probably enjoying a relaxed Sunday morning back in Manchester.

CALLEA is singing 'Without You', and if you're lucky you can catch him when embarks on his biggest concert tour to date later this year. Just doing my bit for the Aussie tourist board...

Right, this dapper trio call themselves The Koi Boys and became famous down under after their appearance on The Voice Australia a couple of years back.

Now, if you're ever on the Gold Coast, you can pop in and catch their live show at Koi Dining and Lounge Bar - though better to bag a ticket, I'm told the popular doo-woppers sell out weeks in advance.

So, from casual covers and gentle jams they've gone to performing in front of a worldwide audience - and got one live-texter nodding along and tapping his feet...

Lovely stuff from Danny Faifai, Kevin Keepa and Ngahere “Nuz” Ngatai.

Mid-song, Ricki introduces the Games' 'everyday heroes'.

"These Games have connected the world," she says.

"We’ve shared experiences we’ll always remember, and we've remembered that we're all so much stronger and better together.

"We've got so much to be grateful for and so many people to be grateful to, so it's time to say 'thank you' to the awesome local legends - starting with our everyday heroes.

"(They are) the people who each and everyday keep the heart of the city and state pumping. Thank you guys, thank you so much."

    No, you're welling up...

As you might expect from a National Slam Poetry champion, Solli Raphael has a way with words.

Rattling off inspirational rhymes with an unmistakable Aussie twang. Quite the performance...

What were you doing at 12 years old?

Well, Solli Raphael was winning an all-adult poetry competition at the Sydney Opera House, bagging the National Slam Poetry crown in the process.

That makes the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony probably only the second-biggest gig of Solli's career.

He's on the 'earth stage' - named so because it, errm, looks like the earth - performing one of his thought-provoking poems 'Unite'.

Solli, now 13, aims to use the platforms of performing and writing to tackle current social issues.
