    Sussex 25-1 v Glos 417

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Not content with adding 109 for their last two wickets, Gloucestershire took an early Sussex wicket with Tom Haines well caught in the gully by Miles Hammond off the pacy Singh Dale.

The 10 overs before lunch have been a serious challenge for Sussex against tight, accurate bowling, and that examination will no doubt continue after the interval.

When Jack Leaning was pinned by Kemar Roach from the third ball of the morning, Kent fans could have been fearing the worst.

At 111-4, having lost their top order and with 'four No11s' - a phrase banded about quite a bit this week in Canterbury - to come, things were not encouraging - but nightwatcher George Garrett set about proving them all wrong.

Garrett had only scored 50 runs in eight previous first-class innings, 24 of them coming in one knock, but he has knuckled down and dealt admirably with a barrage of short stuff to haul Kent onwards on a rain-interrupted morning.

Joe Denly dragged on from leg-spinner Cam Steel for a typically classy 32 to end a 71-run stand but Garrett remains unbeaten on 43 at lunch with Harry Finch at the other end on seven, four of which came from a sublime cover drive.

    Worcs 171-9 v Durham 244

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Hereford & Worcester

A really handy innings here from Adam Finch.

He's hasn't shied away from being on strike.

And he's played some nice shots.

  4. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 194-4 v Notts 193

Somerset sneak into a one-run lead as the players head off for lunch.

Josh Davey is unbeaten on 44, alongside Tom Banton on 13.

Notts took three wickets in the morning session, starting with the big wicket of Sean Dickson, who was followed into the pavilion by Tom Lammonby and Lewis Goldsworthy.

  5. 150 runs

150 for Marcus Harrispublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 20 April

    Derbys v Leics 294-3

Marcus Harris nudges Luis Reece into the covers, trots through for a single and reaches 150 not out at Derby.

He is laying the foundation for a big Leicestershire total and has so far added 110 with fellow Aussie Peter Handscomb, who has 39.

  6. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 442-8

That wicket of Hasan Ali was the final ball of the morning session, which has probably been just about even.

Warwickshire have added 102 runs for the loss of four wickets, with no batter able to reach a half century and get the total moving closer to 500.

Hampshire will surely be batting not too long after lunch.

  7. wicket

WICKET Ali c Holland b Dawson 4published at 13:02 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 442-8

Hasan Ali shows why he bats at number nine with a quite ridiculous shot!

From the final ball of the session from Liam Dawson, the Pakistan bowler decides to go for a big heave but gets nowhere near clearing mid-off!

  8. Postpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 162-9 v Durham 244

Adam Finch takes a glancing blow on the helmet from Matthew Potts and we have a short break where the physio comes on to carry out a concussion check.

After a short exchange he is fine to continue.

Undeterred, Potts follows up the next ball with another bouncer - which Finch does a better job of avoiding.

Fair bit of the short stuff to the Pears tail end as Durham try to get the innings over and head off for their lunch.

  9. 'Cook's best score'published at 12:55 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 161-1 v Lancashire 146

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

With Sam Cook 40 not out, this is now his highest first-class score for Essex.

  10. 'The man that makes things happen does it again'published at 12:54 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 192-8 v Yorks 159

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

There was always this danger with such a low total, even though they've had a good morning overall, things could still get away from them quite quickly because scoring has been quite free at times.

That lead feels quite healthy given the low scoring nature of the game.

Oh and he's gone, the man that makes things happen does it again, Jordan Thompson and he's got Roland Jones to prod one back at him and that's a sharp chance and well taken by Jordan Thompson.

A third wicket of the morning for him.

  11. wicket

WICKET Denly b Steel 32published at 12:53 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 182-4 v Surrey

Joe Denly won't want to watch that again.

He tries to drive a wide one from Cameron Steel, but the bat is well away from the body and he drags it back into his stumps.

That is the 15th wicket of the season for leg-spinner Steel.

  12. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 181-4 v Surrey

You wouldn't call it David Goweresque but it's certainly a competently played cover drive by George Garrett and it brings him four runs off Jordan Clark.

Four balls later Clark is driven to the boundary at mid-on by Joe Denly - time for some spin from Cameron Steel.

  13. wicket

WICKET Bethell c Brown b Abbas 27published at 12:51 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 425-7

Mohammad Abbas keeps bustling in and has a second wicket of the Warwickshire innings.

Coming round the wicket, he offers a bit of width to Jacob Bethell, the batter is tempted and there is a thin edge behind.

The chance of the Bears reaching 500 recedes a touch.

  14. wicket

WICKET: Leach c Bedingham b Potts 7published at 12:48 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 159-9 v Durham 244

Joe Leach is next to go for the Pears and they are now nine down.

The long-serving Worcestershire man tries to a flick of the wrists off his pads but sends it towards David Bedingham who takes a fine catch.

It's been a good morning for Durham and they are now looking to wrap up the Worcestershire innings quickly with a healthy 85-run lead to boot.

  15. wicket

    WICKET Roland-Jones c and b Thompson 30published at 12:48 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 192-8 v Yorks 159

A disappointing end to a productive partnership as Toby Roland-Jones chips a return catch to Yorkshire all-rounder Jordan Thompson - who now has 4-62.

TRJ added 56 with Josh de Caires, who is 24 not out and has now been joined by Tom Helm.

  16. Tight game at Kidderminsterpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 20 April

Worcs 156-8 trail Durham by 88

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham are looking for the final two wickets of the first Worcestershire innings, having worked hard with the ball this morning.

Four wickets have fallen and any lead on this ground will be invaluable.

Jason Holder was the first to go, bowled by Ben Raine when he was on 18. Matthew Waite was then caught behind for a sixth-ball duck off Raine.

And there was certainly an element of fortune with the next two wickets. Danger man Jake Libby was looking comfortable on 61 when he left a ball from Paul Coughlin which jagged back and hit the stumps.

And a surprise turn of speed from Bas De Leede did for Josh Baker. He took his eye off a short ball which ricocheted onto the stumps off his helmet. He went for two.

It is often the thankless role in the dressing room, to throw the pads on late in the day and come out as a night-watchman, but we are having some super cameos this morning.

George Garrett (Kent) - 33 not out

Sam Cook (Essex) - 36 not out

Josh Davey (Somerset) - 42 not out

  18. Postpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 171-4 v Surrey

George Garrett has his highest first-class score, he and Joe Denly now have a 50 partnership and things are looking good for Kent just for the moment.

Garrett flicks Jordan Clark behind square for four and is now 33 not out, with Denly on 28.

  19. 'Ball is doing more now than first hour'published at 12:41 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 180-4 v Notts 193

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A bit like yesterday when the ball seemed to do more in the afternoon than it did, certainly in the latter stages of the morning. This ball seems to be doing more now than it was in the first hour.

The one that got Lewis Goldsworthy moves quite sharply off the seamer away from the right-hander.

The one that got Tom Lammonby moved quite sharply off the seam into the left-hander.

Four for Josh Davey takes his total to 37 from 74 balls and Tom Banton then hits his first boundary, from Brett Hutton.

They bring their side within 13 runs of Notts' first innings score.
