  1. Essex leadpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 147-1 v Lancashire 146

New bowler Jack Blatherwick strays on to the pads of Sam Cook and that is an easy single for the night-watchman.

It also takes Essex into a first-innings lead, all with the luxury of nine wickets in hand.

What a position they are in.

  2. 50 runs

50 partnership for Middlesexpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 183-7 v Yorks 159

    Yorkshire are suddenly leaking runs.

Toby Roland-Jones pulls Mickey Edwards twice for four in the same over and when George Hill overpitches, Josh de Caires drives through mid-off in textbook fashion for another boundary.

Hill then strays outside leg stump, de Caires tickles it to fine leg and that is a 50 partnership, brought up from just 49 balls.

  3. Postpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 163-4 v Surrey

You can only imagine what Surrey are thinking.

George Garrett tries to turn Dan Worrall to leg, the ball takes a leading edge and lobs up into the air - and lands in a convenient gap between converging fielders.

Worrall tries him out with a short one, but the nightwatcher calmly takes his bat inside the line and it flies harmlessly through to Ben Foakes.

Tremendous morning for Gloucestershire adding 98 for the last two wickets in just 19 overs

Zafar Gohar led the way making 60, and together with Zaman Akhter added an invaluable 86 for the ninth wicket.

Sussex didn’t help themselves with some sloppy bowling, and will rue dropping both Miles Hammond and James Bracey yesterday with both going on to score half centuries.

  5. Latest from Hovepublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 20 April

    Sussex 2-0 v Glos 417

Sussex have begun their first innings at the 1st Central County Ground after finally finishing off Gloucestershire when Ajeet Singh Dale gave Jack Carson a return catch.

The visitors added 98 to their overnight 319-8, thanks to Zafar Gohar (60) and Zaman Akhter, who was left on 45 not out.

England's Ollie Robinson failed to take a wicket - his figures were 0-83 from 21 overs.

  6. Middlesex ahead at Lord'spublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 20 April

    Middx 169-7 v Yorks 159

Having been 136-7, Middlesex now have a modest lead at the home of cricket, thanks to Josh de Caires and Toby Roland-Jones.

De Caires clips Mickey Edwards through mid-wicket for four and advances to 16 not out, one more than his partner.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Dean Elgarpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 137-1 v Lancashire

A beautiful straight drive from Dean Elgar gets him four off Will Williams.

And he guides one past short midwicket and comes back for two more runs to take him to a half-century.

That follows on from 80 in his first Essex game and a century at home to Kent last week.

He is already proving to be a superb acquisition.

  8. wicket

WICKET: Goldsworthy c Clarke b James 3published at 12:26 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 170-4 v Notts 193

Lewis Goldsworthy doesn't hang around long as Lyndon James finds the edge to have him caught behind.

This is turning into a good session for Notts as they have a fourth Somerset wicket down while they are still in front.

Somerset are 54-3 in this morning session.

  9. wicket

WICKET Crane c Nair b Procter 61published at 12:25 British Summer Time 20 April

    Northants v Glamorgan 271

Luke Procter threatens the throat of Mason Crane with a short-pitched delivery which he can only glove to Karun Nair at slip - a far easier catch than the brilliant one he took earlier to dismiss Colin Ingram.

That is the end of Glamorgan's first innings, and it's a far healthier total than seemed likely when they were 27-4 on day one.

ben Sanderson finishes with 5-92 from 26 overs for Northants.

  10. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 159-4 v Surrey

Kemar Roach is absolutely convinced he has Joe Denly leg-before - but the umpire isn't and the Kent batter survives.

Denly and nightwatcher George Garrett have now added 48 since the dismissal of Jack Leaning.

What a great job Garrett is doing - he flicks the final ball of the over away for a single and is now 23 not out from 46 balls.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Baker b de Leede 2published at 12:22 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 137-8 v Durham 244

It goes from bad to worse for Worcestershire.

Another Pears batter goes without offering a shot as Josh Baker lasts only two balls before being bowled by Bas de Leede.

It's slightly unfortunate as Baker ducks away from a fast delivery from de Leede the ball rears up, hits him on the helmet and drops down onto the stumps.

The sort of thing that happens when things aren't going your way, it could have bounced anywhere.

The hosts still trail by more than 100 runs.

  12. 'Lammonby has not been flowing like he has been'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 167-3 v Notts 193

    Annie Chave
    BBC Somerset

Tom Lammonby hasn't looked particularly comfortable, he's not flowing like he has been.

I'm sure he'll be very dissapointed where as I'm sure Notts will be very pleased to see the back of Lammonby who has been in great form this season.

  13. 'Lyon has to get to grips with the cold fingers'published at 12:20 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 130-1 v Lancashire 146

    Roland Butcher
Former Middlesex and England batter on BBC Essex

I think the first thing that Nathan Lyon has got to get to grips with obviously the cold fingers.

As a finger spinner it's important to be able to feel the ball and to also find out if there is any spin in this pitch.

He's got to get a feel of that ball.

  14. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 20 April

    Northants v Glamorgan 270-9

We rather underplayed the half-century by Glamorgan's Mason Crane in our most recent Division Two update.

It was in fact the first 50 of a career in which his previous best first-class score was 29.

Crane now has 60 not out after depositing Luke Procter over mid-wicket for four.

Wonder what he can do on this pitch with his leg-spin when it is their turn to bowl.

  15. wicket

WICKET Mousley b Prest 30published at 12:19 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 401-6

Tom Prest's part-time spin does the trick for Hampshire as he removes Dan Mousley.

It is another very full ball and Mousley is effectively yorked. Well bowled by Prest.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Libby b Coughlin 61published at 12:17 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 134-7 v Durham 244

Big wicket goes down for Worcestershire as Jake Libby is bowled by Paul Coughlin.

It's a strange wicket and there must have been some very late movement as Libby appears to have his stumps covered and leaves the delivery, only to hear his bails tumble behind him.

Libby had been doing a good job of anchoring the Pears' innings and his departure could spell bad news for the hosts.

  17. 400 up for Bearspublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 401-5

Dan Mousley should be stumped by Ben Brown off Tom Prest's part-time spin, but the wicketkeeper fails to take it cleanly.

The next ball misses everything and the batters scamper two and that is the 400 up for the Bears.

  18. Not outpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 126-2 v Lancashire 146

Sam Cook's nuisance factor to Lancashire must be through the roof.

This time, Will Williams hits him on the pads. Bowlers, slips and wicketkeeper are all convinced.

    The umpire is not.

Cook has survived one dropped catch, two huge appeals and added 30 valuable runs.

  19. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 153-4 v Surrey

You can't bowl there to Joe Denly.

Dan Worrall strays outside leg stump and the right-hander flicks it down to fine leg for four.

Kent's 150 comes up as he clips another wayward delivery through square leg and moves on to 23 not out.

  20. wicket

WICKET: Lammonby lbw Hammond 17published at 12:11 British Summer Time 20 April

    Somerset 167-3 v Notts 193

Brett Hutton has his first wicket as he traps Tom Lammonby lbw for 17.

That's the second Notts wicket of the morning and comes as Somerset close in on the visitors' first innings total.
