Steady the buffs fellas I have to get some detail into these descriptions as well you know. Four routine singles is the gist of this Moeen over. So his best ODI figures remain 2-34 against India last year.

  3. Sco 132-6 (target 304)published at 04:19 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

England content with their spin twins and Root, who has a best of 2-15 against the West Indies, has only conceded the one boundary in his opening four overs, just the three singles in this one. So 172 from the final 20 overs and only four wickets remaining.

But the skipper is in the right place to pouch this one at mid-wicket. Moeen has his best ODI figures currently, 2-33. What a spell I've had since replacing Phil, I've taken 3-14 in 21 balls.

  5. Sco 127-5 (required rate 8.04)published at 04:13 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

Some spin there for young Joseph Edward Root. It deceives new man Matthew Cross who spoons it upwardly but short of the in-field. For all talk of Morgan's innovations, the fields are fairly routine.

Not much doubt who the man of the match is going to be. The last remaining hope of preventing Moeen picking up the award is on his way. Aberdeen-born Coetzer is no stereotypical large hirsute redheaded Scotsman brandishing an agricultural claymore, he is a composed character with a beautifully straight bat. But he knew the required rate was nudging eight and he tried to loft over long-on, did not time it at all and found mid-on.

  7. Sco 118-4 (Root 1-12 from 2)published at 04:04 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

Richie Berrington is the new man, he's made an ODI century too, an unbeaten 101 against Ireland last September. Four off the over.

Thanks Phil, well if this was New Zealand chasing this total we'd all be home by now. The Scots HAD been going well, adding 40 in the last five overs, but Mommsen departs, hoisting Root to the mid-wicket boundary where Broad takes a comfortable catch.

  9. Sco 114-3 (run-rate 4.56, required 7.60)published at 03:59 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

Moeen continues and Scotland are contained after their recent little flurry. Halfway through the overs and there is still life in Scotland. They need 190 more runs to cause a major upset. I've been commanded to take my sweater and so I leave you in the very capable hands of Mr Jamie Lillywhite, who will see you through to the close.

"We all know what can happen if a partnership can start to blossom. This England side has not got much variety and Root is the only 'sixth' option I can see out there. I'm sure the Scots will see Joe Root as time to take the attack to the opposition."

  11. Sco 111-3 (Mommsen 24, Coetzer 67)published at 03:57 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

After Woakes' poor over, Eoin Morgan turns to the off-spin of Joe Root. It doesn't stem the tide of boundaries, though, as Mommsen sweeps him for four. Four singles on top of that take Scotland to Nelson.

  12. Sco 103-3 (Coetzer 65, Mommsen 18)published at 03:53 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

England almost hit back immediately as Mommsen punches a lofty shot just past the outstretched hands of Moeen off the spinner's bowling. Mommsen makes the most of the let-off with a drive down the ground for another four. Scotland are on the charge. This pair have put on 49 and are in a positive mood.

Coetzer has found his groove again. He smashes three more fours - the first down the ground, the second a flick to fine leg and the third a pull through square leg - off Woakes. Has Scotland's danger man decided it is now or never? It would appear so.

"Have they got any big hitters? Unless they have got someone who can take the bowlers apart, more teams chasing 300 lose than win."

  15. Sco 85-3 (run-rate 4.04, required 7.55)published at 03:46 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

Scotland are back in the boundary game as Coetzer fires one through midwicket to the boundary. Anderson dives and looks to have stopped it but the third umpire decrees he was touching the boundary rope when he pushed the ball back. Mommsen follows this up by hammering a drive down the ground for another four. Scotland needed that.

"There are three teams who are better than England on paper - Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, but better people than me say on paper doesn't win a competition. If England start performing well they'll be a force to be reckoned with."

  18. Sco 74-3 (Finn 1-12 from 5)published at 03:42 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

England are not blowing Scotland out of this game, they are slowly strangling the life out of their challenge. Finn bowls the innings' first maiden, as Mommsen is pinned at the striker's end.

  19. Sco 74-3 (Mommsen 8, Coetzer 50)published at 03:38 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

Coetzer reaches his 50 from 64 balls with a flick to leg from Moeen. At one stage it looked as though he would reach it much quicker. Scotland take just three from the over and the required run-rate creeps up again.

  20. Sco 71-3 (Mommsen 6, Coetzer 49)published at 03:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2015

If Scotland are to win this game they need to make something happen soon. Coetzer has looked the most likely man to do that so far but after a flurry of early boundaries he is now struggling to get the ball away. Credit to England's bowlers for this. Finn goes for four from his fourth over to leave him with figures of 1-12.
