"Finch and Warner would come at you and put pressure back on the bowlers. McCullum would dance down the pitch and make the bowlers think. That's why they're that good."
Moeen Ali brings some spin into the attack to add a different dynamic to England's attack. Scotland are dealing almost exclusively in singles at the moment, much to England's liking. Three more are added to the total and Scotland reach 66-3 before drinks are brought on.
Anthony Shaw:, external I'm worried that if I sleep before the end I'll wake up to a headline of 'Scots thrash England in stunning comeback!'

"They'll get these 304 if they bat until 10 o'clock tonight...probably halfway through their second innings as well. England are just a little bit better, they're not giving them the easy short ball or the wide one to drive. And that's what you should expect."
Better pace and better line is giving England the advantage. Finn keeps it tight and restricts the Scots pair to a couple of singles. Yes, the batsmen are not of the quality of Australia and New Zealand but it is an improvement nonetheless.

Ex-New Zealand captain on BBC Test Match Special
"It's been a relatively successful transition from the 10 over mark from Anderson and Broad to Woakes and Finn. The run-rate hasn't escalated in any way. If Scotland are going to threaten in any way they are going to have to score off the back foot without a horizontal bat."
Woakes offers an appeal for an lbw against Coetzer, but the ball was only just clipping leg stump (leading to an umpire's call on DRS) and the appeal is turned down. The pressure is increasing on Scotland as the over goes for just a single.
JC Wiggly:, external You may take our wickets but you'll never take our freedom.
Finn continues and continues well, going for just a couple of singles. Coetzer's early boundary blitz has been stemmed and Scotland are finding it much harder to score now.
England look much livelier in the field now. Woakes' second over is a good one and would have been a great one had a top-edged pull from Coetzer carried to Finn at fine leg and not skipped just past the fielder's outstretched hand and gone for four.
Gavin: As an Englishman living in Scotland, I'd like clarification on whether Norman Tebbitt's infamous 'cricket test' equally applies *against* supporting England!

Not bad - the view from the back of the TMS box. The box itself is sitting atop a structure of scaffolding, which I hope is secure.
Steven Finn went for 49 runs from two overs against New Zealand. He currently has 1-3 from six balls. I'd call that a significant improvement. The new man for Scotland is captain Preston Mommsen.

"The dangerman in a sense has gone. It was just a little nibble outside the off-stump, it may have got a wee bit of bounce. England have now made a large step forward in preventing Scotland getting anywhere near this total."
Steven Finn is into the attack in place of Broad and he makes a much better start than he did against New Zealand. A shortish delivery to Machan catches the outside edge and is easily taken by Buttler. England are starting to take control of matters.
Dave Ramshaw: Sir Geoffrey says England would have to bowl terrible to lose this. That's exactly what they've done for the last six months.
The new man is left-hander Matt Machan, who looks nervous and almost prods his first ball straight to Buttler. He does a better job with his third ball, a short-pitched effort which he pulls for four to bring up Scotland's 50.

"I guess the width was the thing that lured Coleman into it. Maybe he felt he didn't want the run-rate climbing too much, but the stroke wasn't on. Not a difficult chance but Morgan had to leap to make it comfortable. England don't want Scotland to stay in the game for too long."
