  1. UAE 68-8 (Anwar 12, Tauqir 0)published at 08:16 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

In comes Mohammad Tauqir, at 43 years old the oldest skipper in World Cup history. He fails to add any runs in his first three balls. His decision to bat looks brave but foolish now.

"What an ugly looking dismissal that was, after that excellent six down the ground first ball.

"Naveed is trying to give himself some room for the cut shot and it clipped the wicket.

"At least he went down playing a few shots. But this is going to be a very small total India are chasing down."

Naveed's short but entertaining innings comes to an end as he backs away to try and chop an Ashwin ball to the off side and is bowled. That is the spinner's fourth wicket and India are cruising.

  5. UAE 67-7published at 08:12 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

Speaking of introductions, say hello to Mohammad Naveed, who plants his foot first ball and absolutely smashes the ball down the ground for six. Then, from the final ball of the over, he is dropped by Raina at slip after poking at the ball.

"First ball, left-arm spin. This is going to be a procession I think. The Waca isn't known for its spin but it is too much for the UAE.

"The UAE just haven't come to terms with the extra bounce. Hopefully they had a good knock in the nets where there is some bounce, but they've come to the middle and I don't know whether it's the occasion that's got to them or the quality of the bowling, but they haven't performed."

That's how you introduce yourself to a game. Ravinda Jadeja's spin proves as effective as that of Ashwin as Javed prods and edges a good-length ball for Raina to claim his third catch of the innings at slip.

Great work from Dhoni. He almost turns a wide into a wicket from Ashwin's third ball, as he gathers and flicks off the bails in quick time. Javed's foot was just down, though. The batsman then flicks one in the air over leg slip but the ball falls safe. Anwar finishes the over with a strong cut short through cover for four. He is very unlikely to win this game for UAE, but Anwar is their best hope of avoiding embarrassment here.

"The only reason for Mustafa to review that is because they are running out of wickets and they need to use some reviews.

"His bat wasn't even close to it. Mustafa watched the review on the big screen and started walking. There was no doubt about it."

  10. UAE 54-6 (Anwar 6, Javed 2)published at 08:04 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

Amjad Javed, who hit very cleanly to score 42 in 55 balls against Ireland, is the next man to try his luck against this dominant Indian attack. He survives his first ball, clipping through square leg for two.

Mohit starts with a loose short ball that Anwar (who has looked good on the pull) swivels on to collect a single through mid-wicket. Four balls later Mustafa is trapped in front and Michael Gough's finger goes up. The batsman reviews it but having watched the replay on the big screen he starts the long walk without even waiting for the third umpire's decision. UAE will do well to make 100 now.

"India will be disappointed if UAE don't put up a decent total. They need Sharma to get a decent knock, because that hasn't happened yet on this trip.

"But India look strong and imposing at the moment, and a team to be really reckoned with."

  13. UAE 51-5published at 07:55 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

More dangerous turn from Ashwin tempts the left-handed Mustafa into a dabble, which he misses as Dhoni takes. The batsman is a bit wiser with the next one - a similar delivery, which he leaves. He then gets off the mark with a flick to leg for two runs.

  16. UAE 49-5 (Mustafa 0, Anwar 5)published at 07:52 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

UAE fans haven't had much to cheer but they can savour Anwar's shot from the first ball of Mohit's latest over - a powerful pull to the boundary through square leg. Anwar almost gets another boundary with a flick off his pads, but Dhawan does well to dive and stop.

"Khurram was sucked in there. Dhoni had moved leg slip in, about five or six metres off the bat.

"It tempted Khan to play the sweep and he wasn't good enough. He top-edged it, and it was an easy catch.

"But the simple act of changing the field just puts doubt in the batsman's mind and changes things.

"It is great captaincy by Dhoni, he is one of the most pro-active skippers around."

  18. UAE 44-5published at 07:49 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2015

India think they have another as new man Rohan Mustafa initially offers a shot before pulling his bat away, but not quite quickly enough. MS Dhoni thinks he might have nicked it. The umpire doesn't, though, and India opt against a review.

India and Ashwin strike again. Khurram looks to try and sweep to leg, where there is space to pick up runs, but he top-edges and the ball loops for an easy catch for Suresh Raina coming round from slip. The UAE have not been able to deal with Ashwin.

"One thing they haven't done well is win much when they travel. I think in the 10 days before the World Cup started, they prepared well and made plans.

"The win over South Africa was the game that told me they are going to be a real force in this competition."
