  1. 50 for Angelo Mathewspublished at 06:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Matt Machan really is living dangerously bowling his "friendly" off breaks to a short leg side boundary. Four sixes in a row are smashed in to the seats by Angelo Mathews. 50 comes from 20 balls for the Sri Lanka captain with one four and six sixes.

Up comes 300 for Sri Lanka. Thisara Perera looks to have given it away to the fielder at long-off, but it drops short of Josh Davey. Six singles from Rob Taylor's latest over.

A tidy over from Matt Machan in between that dropped catch from Coleman. There was also a sniff of a return catch for the Sussex man when Mathews drilled one back at him, but it was too quick for him to get the hands up and stop the ball's pace.

"That was really poorly judged by the outfielder. He didn't think about the breeze. That is likely to cost them a bucketful of runs."

  6. Dropped catchpublished at 06:37 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Angelo Mathews tries to smash Matt Machan in to the David Boon Stand on the leg side. Freddie Coleman looks to be underneath it, but he drops it as he appears to mis-judge the flight and can't cling on as he dives forward.

  8. SL 291-5 (Mathews 21, T Perera 1)published at 06:34 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

One Perera exits and is replaced by another, Thisara Perera is the new man in at seven. He's off the mark with an easy single down to long-off.

  9. WICKETpublished at 06:31 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Perera gets a second six with a wristy flick over square leg, but two balls later, Rob Taylor gets his man as the left-hander tries to hit one over long-on and Calum MacLeod, running round the boundary, takes a smart catch to his right.

I've named my fantasy team for this tournament after Eddo Brandes, a man who was also famous for being a chicken farmer while an international cricketer at the same time. Back in Hobart, tt's Kusal Perera's turn to get in on the six action. Alasdair Evans gets pulled away to the grass banks at deep square leg. He shows his strength on the leg side this time with a drive over the in field for four. That gets an approving nod in the crowd from Sanath Jayasuriya.

"Josh Davey is now the leading wicket-taker in this World Cup with 14 and equals the most by an Associate player in a World Cup with Eddo Brandes 14 for Zimbabwe in 1992 (before Zimbabwe got Full Member status)."

  13. SL 268-4 (Mathews 17, K Perera 7)published at 06:24 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Looks like we may well have another 400+ total here in this World Cup the way Mathews has started. Could be a long last 11 overs for Scotland here. Davey brings a bit of control back despite Kusal Perera slicing him away for four from the opening ball. End of the batting powerplay which finished 57-3.

  14. SL 262-4 (Mathews 16, K Perera 2)published at 06:20 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Amid that excitement in Davey's last over, I forgot to mention Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews is in. He's certainly got my attention now as he opens his innings with a big slog sweep for six followed by a reverse sweep four and then another slog sweep six off Michael Leask.

  15. SL 245-4 (Davey 7-0-57-3)published at 06:16 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

No dream hat-trick for Josh Davey sadly as new man Kusal Perera tucks one off his legs for a single from his first ball.

  16. WICKETpublished at 06:14 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Get one. Get two. Josh Davey goes to the top of the tournament wicket takers with 14 as he picks up Kumar Sangakkara's wicket. The left-hander tries to make room to drive one through the covers, but instead edges through to Matthew Cross.

How often do you see that? A player sits with his pads on for hours waiting to come in after a big partnership and he falls cheaply. Mahela Jayawardene tries to go big off Josh Davey but horribly mistimes it up to mid-off. That's a 13th wicket of this World Cup for Josh Davey which puts him level at the top of the wicket taking charts.

  20. SL 242-2 (24 off the over)published at 06:08 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Save your legs Kumar. Let the ball do the running for you. Alasdair Evans gets the treatment from an attempted bouncer and Sangakkara carves one over point for six. Next ball, he crashes the ball through the covers for four. Not content with that, he pulls out the ramp shot and gets four more down to fine leg. A fourth boundary in a row comes as he slices one down to third man. There's a brief respite with a wide, but normal service is resumed with another four to fine leg. A poor slower ball gets the treatment.
