James Anderson, I kneel before you. He is almost single-handedly winning this match for England with wickets, catches and now a brilliant run out. Ramdin drives at Jordan, with Gary Ballance just spilling a very tough, diving chance at cover. Anderson runs round to pick up the ball, hurling at the non-strikers' stumps, where the dozy Jason Holder is nowhere near getting back. Direct hit, goodnight Vienna.

If yesterday had us sleeping on the job, then today sees every ball as a event, a little grenade to damage West Indies and move England closer to victory. Anderson into the eighth over of a marathon spell, now with the Ramdin as his foe. Ball swinging a little less than before? How long with Anderson stay on for?

"Careless shot by Blackwood, schoolboy stuff. It's a familiar decline from West Indies. England are well on top for victory, but they've now got deal with the pair who held them up in Antigua."

I know that the Windies need runs, and that Blackwood likes to hit down the ground, but this really is baffling. England have also out-thought him, by posting mid-off just that touch deeper. It was good from Anderson, who had to leap at full stretch. Jason Holder the new man. One more wicket for England and they will that they are through the Windies.

"Brilliant catch from Anderson. But that's a real self-destruct shot - not the type of shot to be playing when you're trying to save the game. There's no excuse for that."

What is that shot? If you look up 'stupidity' in the dictionary, you might well see a picture of Jermaine Blackwood. At a time when the Windies need to blunt the England attack, he has fallen on his sword, belting Chris Jordan straight to mid-off where James Anderson (who else?) takes the catch. The England win is now the most likely result.

James Gutteridge: This is right around the time when we could use Plunkett and an in form spinner. Not sure what Jordan and Moeen are contributing.

What was I saying about the danger from James Anderson's end? First ball of the over, Denesh Ramdin gets a lifter that takes the edge of the bat and just evades the leap of Joe Root at gully. Almsost a carbon copy of the Blackwood dismissal. Didn't England used to have quite a tall bloke that fielded at gully? When Jimmy looks for the in-swinger, Blackwood drives down the ground for four.

"The England team don't get involved in boring draws. Jimmy Anderson has just produced an incredible spell, but he can't do it all on his own - he'll need some back-up."

Chris Jordan replacing Stuart Broad after drinks. He went to the same school as Rihanna, you know. Not that anyone has ever mentioned it. In bright sunshine, Jordan has two has and a gully, with the ball showing no great desire to move from the straight. It's almost a game of two ends. Wobbly danger from one, up and down from t'other. Like when Richard Hadlee used to do the bizo for New Zealand.

Elbows, disgruntled Yorskhireman: Perhaps the four Yorkshire players currently wasting their time carrying drinks in the West Indies could amuse themselves by reworking the Four Yorkshiremen sketch:

"They 'ave it easy today with them plastic bottles. When I were a lad, we used to carry water to t'pitch in stone jars, bite marble out of t'top with our teeth, and t'water looked black as coal juice. Stone jars! You were lucky. We 'ad to take pigs' bladders out to t'pitch. And it weren't water in them bladders neither…"

"James Anderson is really making it talk. He's bowling well because he's pitching it up, and he also looks like the pressure is off after breaking the [England wickets] record in the last Test match."

Anderson, the sorcerer, returns to the end of his run to rub the ball in an attempt to conjure one more bit of magic. Blackwood waits, bat like an axe, then tickles a rare bad ball fine for four. That's four more runs between England and victory. How long can England keep Anderson going for? What do they do when he comes off? What do they do when he retires? That's drinks. Jimmy's earned half a mild.

Akshay Mistry: James Anderson is single-handedly trying to drag England through to a win against the West Indies.

Denesh Ramdin joins Jermaine Blackwood, the skipper knowing that there is plenty to be done in order to save this match. Stuart Broad, the supporting actor in the James Anderson Show, is bowling with four slips, a gully and a backward short leg. Trouble here! Ramdin comes for a third, Blackwood isn't moving, Ramdin gets back thanks to a poor throw. There's all sorts of panic going through the Windies team, both in the middle and in the dressing room.

It's been simply brilliant from Anderson, moving the ball both ways. Samuels hung his bat, tried to withdraw, but it was just too late. The Burnley man has taken 3-1 with the new ball, 3-3 since coming into the attack this morning. Stokes actually applauded Samuels as he walked past, but didn't say a word. The Windies lead by 74 but now with only five wickets in hand. At the rate they are scoring, England will still have a sniff at tea. Oh Test cricket, how you make fools of us all.
