Matthew Boyce is given a life by Stuart Broad in the field after he sends a fuller ball from Darren Sammy high into the sky, only for a back-pedalling Broad to misjudge the flight of the ball and miss the chance to claim a fifth Foxes wicket.

The run-rate has gone up over nine with neither Umar Akmal or Boyce managing to find the boundary ropes. Singles at this stage will not be enough.

Matt Fisher returns and Jos Buttler and Steven Croft flay him to the boundary as the youngster strays down the leg-side.

Adil Rashid keeps things tighter at the opposite end before Buttler heaves another huge boundary over mid-wicket. He dances down the pitch and just flicks his wrists as the ball sails into the Western Terrace. It's a good spell from Rashid though, who finishes with figures of 0-32.

  3. WICKET Morgan (b Cosker 15)published at 20:55 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

A big blow for Middlesex as they lose England one-day captain Eoin Morgan who is bowled Dean Cosker.

Could this be the breakthrough that Glamorgan need?

Josh Cobb races to his half-century off only 31 balls as sends Daryl Mitchell and Ed Barnard for huge sixes in consecutive overs.

No bowler is safe from the Northants batsman as Saeed Ajmal is launched over mid-off for a maximum before being sent to the mid-wicket boundary.

The spinner then commits the cardinal sin of bowling a no-ball, as Cobb moves into the 60s.

Northants need 76 off the final six overs, but with Cobb at the crease the Steelbacks will feel they have a chance.

Umar Akmal swivels and sends Luke Fletcher for a big six but can manage a single off the rest of the over.

Another tidy over from Stuart Broad sees the England bowler go for only four runs sees the run rate creep up to 8.5.

Despite the relatively modest total set by Notts, the slow pitch is making it difficult for the batsman to score as free as they may like.

Despite Tom Westley being dropped on the boundary at fine leg, it's been a fine performance from Essex as we reach the halfway mark.

Surrey will need to upset the current partnership of Westley and Ravi Bopara, because Essex are looking rather comfortable at The Oval.

However, they won't want the run-rate to climb any higher. The visitors need 91 off 60 balls.

Liam Plunkett is bowling quick - one delivery just nudges over the 90mph mark as he angles the ball into the ribs of the batsmen. He's well supported by Glenn Maxwell, who spins the ball hard to keep the batsmen quiet.

Jos Buttler flays Glenn Maxwell for a huge six that goes far back into the stands, before Adil Rashid bowls a tight over. The run-rate is climbing for Lancashire - they need 82 from 36 deliveries.

  8. Malan (36 balls, 9 fours)published at 20:50 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Dawid Malan continues his rich vein of form as he reaches his half century, setting Middlesex on course for victory in Cardiff.

Brilliant fielding from Paul Collingwood... how many times has that sentence been typed over the years, I wonder? The former England captain is pretty much square on to the stumps but makes no mistake as he runs out Wes Durston, who had set off on an optimistic run which was never really there.

  10. Postpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Middlesex have reached the halfway stage and they're looking in good shape in Cardiff. Dawid Malan is keeping the visitors ticking along, hitting nine fours in his 46.

Moeen Ali is being treated to bit of his own medicine as Richard Levi sends the balls straight back over the England player's head for six before Josh Cobb clobbers the ball to the cover boundary.

The Northants pair switch roles against Saeed Ajmal but the Pakistan bowler traps Levi lbw. It brings an entertaining innings to end after Levi had hit six fours and a six in 28-ball 42.

  12. WICKET Prince (lbw Maxwell 32)published at 20:42 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

That's three wickets for Glenn Maxwell. He bowls it straight and Ashwell Prince is hit low and directly in front of the stumps. An easy decision for the umpire.

Yorkshire have restricted Lancashire from scoring freely but Jos Buttler is fighting back as he heaves Maxwell for a huge six into the stands.

Middlesex are looking good here despite losing Joe Burns for 21 off Andrew Salter's fine delivery.

The in-form Dawid Malan is keeping things ticking over in Cardiff as they approach the halfway mark.

  14. WICKET Agathangelou (c Patel b Broad 14)published at 20:37 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Stuart Broad has his first wicket in a Notts shirt in the T20 competition for five years as Andrea Agathangelou picks out Samit Patel at mid-wicket, seconds after the fielder had been moved into that position.

The Foxes will now be relying on Umar Akmal if they are going to get close to Notts' score.

  15. WICKET Brown (c Ballance b Maxwell 21)published at 20:35 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Karl Brown will be fuming with himself. Glenn Maxwell bowls a juicy full-toss and Brown hits it straight to Gary Ballance at mid-wicket. A horrible way to go.

Ashwell Prince is still in, looking dangerous on 30, and he's been joined by Jos Buttler.

  16. Postpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

Stuart Broad's first over for Notts in a T20 since 2010 goes for just a single before Umar Akmal pulls the final ball of the over to the boundary.

West Indies bowler Darren Sammy enters the fray but Andrea Agathangelou and Akmal are struggling to pierce the well set field and manage just four singles.

Despite the relative quite out on the square, the Foxes are up with the rate. We could have a low-scoring thriller on our hands this evening.

  17. Postpublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

After losing Alastair Cook without early on, Tom Westley is doing all the scoring as he looks to turn their fortunes around.

Since Cook departed the crease, he's hit three fours and a six as Essex reach the fifty mark after six overs.

  18. Postpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 5 June 2015

A better over from Richard Pyrah is spoiled by an excellent flick to the fine leg boundary from Ashwell Prince who moves to 27 not out.

Adil Rashid's second over is better directed, as the spinner settles into a rhythm. He is straighter and causes Karl Brown some problems before the Lancashire batsman slog-sweeps him for a boundary.

Middlesex haven't let the early loss of Nick Compton affect them too much after he was bowled by Wayne Parnell.

Dawid Malan has hit his eighth four of the night from just six overs to move to 36 not out. A storming start for the visitors in Cardiff.

Josh Cobb and Richard Levi are rebuilding for Northants, although they may need to start hitting a few more boundaries with the run-rate heading towards 12 an over.

Levi sends Saeed Ajmal for two boundaries as the Pakistan bowler's first over of the summer for Worcestershire leaks 12 runs.
