“I am yet to locate any blue Smurfs in tonight packed crowd but there is a big group of Minions, aka Colchester Women’s Cricket Club, have come to support England - despite the colour of their outfits.
“There is nothing impartial about this crowd tonight in Essex, they’re fully behind the home side and they’re being pretty vocal in their support."
It's not easy for spinners to grip the ball when the outfield's damp, but Durham-born Hazell completes her spell for the addition of three more singles. It looks like she's leaving the field as well - we noticed her limping earlier.

Quote MessageThis is the last over from Hazell. She has been the key for England, Lanning and Perry have fallen since she has come on.
Hazell to bowl her fourth over straight through, she strays with a high full toss which Jonassen whacks wide of long-on for four.
The experienced Alex Blackwell joins Jonassen at the crease, and Australia have to start again here. Just three singles from the over.

Quote MessageWhat a big wicket. Sciver hasn't bowled much in the series but first ball she's got Perry, that's a massive wicket for England.
Perry b Sciver 30 (Aus 67-3)
A huge wicket - Perry is undone by the change of pace as she's drawn into a false shot and bowled by medium-pacer Natalie Sciver's first ball. England jubilant.
Quote MessageI think we have battled away, it was a good little partnership but we lost a wicket as we were just getting going. We've got some really attacking options to come in so we are confident we will have something to bowl at. We trained here last night and noticed the dew became a bit of a factor.

Perry expertly bisects long-on and cow corner with a first-bounce four. A big let-off for Australia, that drop.

Quote MessageFor all England's fizz and energy in the field there was a slight mis-communciation there, Gunn not sure if the fielder was coming in from the boundary and it was a bit late.
Aus 60-2
Hazell nearly has a second wicket - Perry skies one high over mid-on and Jenny Gunn shells the catch sinking to her knees. And to add insult to injury, she throws to the unattended stumps and Australia profit to the tune of an overthrow.
Knight to continue, bowling round the wicket, and she's taken for six singles by Perry and Jonassen but will be happy not to concede a boundary.

Quote MessageHow about that? Wicket with a pie. But I wonder whether this is a smart move from Australia with a left-hander coming in to face two off-spinners?
Jess Jonassen, who won the player of the match award on her Test debut in the last game of this multi-format series, is the new batter. Hazell, who's limping slightly as she walks back to her mark, is denied a wicket maiden as Perry knocks a single - but she nearly has a second wicket as the left-handed Jonassen swings and misses. We're at the half-way mark.

Quote MessageMeg Lanning will be absolutely fuming. After being tied down by some good bowling it was a full toss that she didn't get hold of and it went into the hands of cow corner. That is very much Hazell's wicket, she was really making Lanning struggle. Dani Hazell back in the England side and loving life.
Lanning c Greenway b Hazell 28 (Aus 50-2)
Just what England needed - the frustrated Lanning attempts another big blast as Hazell serves up a full toss, and is caught by the diving Lydia Greenway coming in from the cow corner boundary.
Perry rides her luck a little - chipping the ball just over the fielder at mid-on but a sliding stop by Natalie Sciver at long-on cuts off the boundary. 50 up for the Southern Stars.
Gunn's off after that one expensive over and England turn to the off-spin of Heather Knight, who's likely to bat in the middle order today rather than her usual opening role in Tests and ODIs. Australia's second-wicket pair plunder some singles, while Knight serves up a juicy full toss which Lanning powerfully swats for four through mid-wicket.
