Summary

  • Eng 114-5 - win by five wickets

  • Sciver hits career-best 47 for England

  • Aus 111 all out - Shrubsole 4-11, Sciver 4-15

  • Blackwell 24 & Harris 24 (3 sixes)

  1. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 17.2 overs

    Aus 91-6

Rebecca Grundy has had a change of ends, she'll bowl the 18th (and presumably 20th) overs. Healy into double figures, the field is shuffled for the big-hitting Harris, who hits the ball back low to the bowler, who can't hold on. Ouch.

  2. Aus 90-6 (Healy 9, Harris 17)published at 17 overs

Brunt ends her spell of 0-27 with a dot ball but with three overs left, some big hitting from Harris could yet make this a very tricky total for England to chase down.

I tell you what, Katherine Brunt does not get hit like that very often. She is walking back to her mark looking very confused. Harris got in to a good position and if you bowl length to her she will hit it out of the park.

    Aus 90-6published at 16.5 overs

Harris smacks a two to deep extra cover - then smacks a slower ball from Brunt over the leaping Greenway at deep mid-wicket for another six.

  5. Aus 82-6published at 16.3 overs

Interesting move - England go back to the pace of Katherine Brunt for her last over, so they could be finishing up with spin here. Harris steps across her stumps with one eye on a Jos Buttler-style ramp shot, but can't connect cleanly and they can only shuffle through for a leg bye. But Healy blasts a single to mid-off to get Harris back on strikie.

  6. Aus 79-6 (Healy 7, Harris 9)published at 16 overs

Hazell completes her spell with a wide and two singles - she finishes with 0-26 and Australia have four overs to go. Can "Amazing" Grace Harris fire them into three figures?

Harris is a strong girl. We saw in the last game her hitting a big six and she has done it again here. This is the future of women's T20 cricket, producing players with power who can clear the rope.

  8. 6 runs

    Aus 76-6published at 15.4 overs

Harris, a powerful young all-rounder from Queensland, is off the mark with a two - and having got her eye in, smashes a Hazell full toss over mid-wicket for the first six of the day.

  9. Aus 68-6published at 15 overs

Grace Harris is the new batter, Healy can't get the last ball of the over away. Healy is being watched by her fiance Mitchell Starc, who's sitting on the pavilion balcony with Aussie men's coach Darren Lehmann. They'll be called into action later for the men's international.

I've been a bit disappointed by Blackwell this series. She has this release shot over cow corner, but she doesn't adapt and give herself other options. You know, if she doesn't rotate the strike, she will go for that shot. She needs another release.

    Blackwell c Elwiss b Sciver 24 (Aus 68-6)

And once again, an Australian batter tries to step up the pace with a big leg-side heave, and skies the ball over the ring of off-side fielders. This time it's Georgia Elwiss taking the catch. Will Australia bat out their overs?

  12. Aus 68-5published at 16.4 overs

Edwards continues to shuffle her bowlers - looks like it's just the five being used today, we've not seen Wyatt or Knight bowl - as Sciver returns. Blackwell and Healy plunder four singles.

  13. Aus 64-5published at 14 overs

More ones and twos from Blackwell and Healy as Hazell whizzes through her third over. England are rather having to rush through their overs here (possibly after those wides Shrubsole bowled earlier) - they've got 20 minutes left to get six overs in.

Elsewhere in the world of women's cricket, Ireland and Scotland are due to meet today - but Ireland have just retweeted a photo from someone saying it's "bucketing down", external.

It will be an interesting second half. We thought in the last match that England were miles ahead but then the batting let them down and they collapsed. Perry and Schutt will be able to extract some swing from this pitch.

  15. Aus 59-5 (Blackwell 19, Healy 2)published at 13 overs

Sciver's off, despite having taken a wicket with her last ball, as left-arm spinner Grundy returns. It's still pedestrian progress from Australia, Blackwell gets down on one knee to sweep but Katherine Brunt earns a round of applause for an excellent diving stop on the square leg boundary, and an inch-perfect throw over the stumps for good measure. You need a good arm from those square boundaries at Cardiff.

Australia need to think about acceleration here, but conservative acceleration as they don't have many wickets to play with. If they are to post a competitive total here you sense it will be down to Blackwell.

  17. Aus 54-5published at 12 overs

Alyssa Healy joins Blackwell in the middle, Australia desperately need a big partnership but keep losing wickets. Hazell is quickly through her over, while TMS's Charles Dagnall has noticed a lightbulb has blown on one of the floodlights. Hopefully the others will stay in place, I think they'll be needed today.

Really important breakthrough for England. It is a bit lucky as Perry slashed at a wide one. But it has broken the momentum. Perry was starting to go nicely. If England can keep Australia under that 100 mark it will give them a huge psychological boost.

Another breakthrough for England as Perry is foxed by a wide slower ball from Natalie Sciver and chops it onto her stumps trying to hit through the off side.

Steady progress from Australia, but one feels they'll need to step up the pace to set a competitive total here. We've reached the halfway point.
