"Could we be on for an early finish?

"Northants and Alex Wakely could've only dreamed of this kind of start last night, but the Steelbacks are well and truly on top here against the defending champions.

"It's fair to say the home crowd are stunned and it's that man David Willey doing the damage once more for Northants."

Anyone else been to the cricket dressed as ketchup or mayo before?

  3. Birmingham Bears 36-4 (Clarke 7, Javid 13)published at 8 overs

Shahid Afridi is never the easiest man to get away and he starts by conceding just three runs off his first over.

He mixes up his pace so well, which makes it very tricky for the batsmen.

Birmingham Bears have struck just two boundaries in the first eight overs.

  4. Birmingham Bears 33-4 (Clarke 6, Javid 11)published at 7 overs

Olly Stone comes into the attack and clocks 91mph on the speed gun with just his second ball.

    That's some serious pace.

Birmingham Bears are still struggling to find the boundaries, but they'll just be happy not to have lost any more wickets.

Now it's time for Boom Boom!

  5. Birmingham Bears 26-4 (Clarke 3, Javid 9)published at 6 overs

David Willey has been right on the money so far this morning.

He's not giving the batsmen any width and causing all sorts of problems with his pace and swing.

It's the end of the powerplay, and Birmingham Bears have just 26 on the board. Where do they go from here?

  6. Birmingham Bears 22-4 (Clarke 2, Javid 6)published at 5 overs

Ladies and gentleman, we have an over without a wicket!

But it's another fine one from the big South African Rory Kleinveldt as just four runs come from it.

  7. Birmingham Bears 18-4 (Clarke 1, Javid 4)published at 4 overs

Ateeq Javid gets off the mark by clipping David Willey off his pads for four.

What a start for Northants this is.

Ian Bell has got a snorter there. That one got a bit of extra bounce and caught the edge. This semi-final is almost won and lost. The majority of Edgbaston is shell shocked.

WICKET Bell (c Duckett b Willey 4)published at 3.2 overs

    Birmingham Bears 14-4 (Clarke 1)

Ian Bell's gone! What is going on out there?!

The England man plays a swipe outside off stump but the ball bounces a bit more than he expects and he nicks David Willey behind.

Willey has three wickets in his first eight balls. The home fans are stunned.

  11. Birmingham Bears 14-3 (Bell 4, Clarke 1)published at 3 overs

Well, the rest of the over didn't see any more wickets so I guess that's an improvement.

Plenty of rebuilding work to do now for the Bears, but they've got two experienced men at the crease.

Goodness me, what a start this is for Northants. They won the toss, chose to bowl and they have three wickets in the first three overs.

Wow, this is absolute chaos in the middle!

Tim Ambrose is the latest man to go, chipping a simple catch back to Rory Kleinveldt.

It's a disastrous start for the Bears and plenty of responsibility will now lie with Ian Bell.

Rikki Clarke is the new man.

  14. Birmingham Bears 8-2 (Bell 3, Ambrose 1)published at 2 overs

David Willey loves the big occasion.

After finishing the game with a hat-trick when Northants won the title in 2013, those two wickets in his first three legal balls meant he had taken five wickets in his last  six balls at Finals Day.

  15. wicket

WICKET Porterfield (b Willey 0)published at 1.3 overs

    Birmingham Bears 6-2 (Bell 3)

William Porterfield is gone first (legitimate) ball!

David Willey bowls a wide but follows it up with a perfectly straight ball which Porterfield plays all around and the ball clatters into his stumps.

    Willey loves Edgbaston doesn't he!?

What a magnificent start from David Willey.

He's found some swing straight away and catches Bears' skipper Varun Chopra on the crease.

It looked plumb and the finger went up straight away.

  17. Birmingham Bears 4-0 (Chopra 2, Bell 2)published at 1 over

Nice steady start from Rory Kleinveldt as just four come from his first over, all in singles.

Looks a flat batting track though.

What will Birmingham Bears be happy with? Probably too early to tell, but you'd have to say 180 will give them a good chance.

So here we go then. Varun Chopra will face the first ball from Rory Kleinveldt.

  20. David Willey's swansong...published at 10:53

Northants v Birmingham Bears (11:00 BST)

One man who will be looking to impress today is Steelbacks' star all-rounder David Willey.

The 25-year-old lit up the quarter-final victory against Sussex with the quickest T20 century by an Englishman.

However, just a week later he announced he was joining county champions Yorkshire next season.

Will he get the perfect send off with some silverware at Edgbaston?
